Today 4/21/2021-no fluently English speaking CS guy (sounds like African or Indian guy) needs more training on how to be an effective customer service. He was so fast and he put this echoing noise on me while he claimed he was explaining which I didn't hear any of those because of that noise then when I told him I didn't hear anything because of that echoing noise, he told me this "You let me talk & talk then you will tell me you did hear it & you want me to repeat it"? Is that how Western Union trained this guy to work as customer service? I told him he was rude & I don't want to talk to him. Zero star for him. Whoever you are, or for those who are like him, go online even YouTube, you will learn & get ideas on how to be an effective customer service or just learn the basic to work as customer service. Next CS who helped me correct the name of the receiver is really good. Kudos to you & to those who are like you. Western Union needs more employees like you. Mahalo
Western Union is facing competition now and to describe the problem with Western Union, I'll talk about RIA. We have family in Brazil and sometimes need to send money, especially with Covid. First few times, we sent it with Western Union because our local grocery store, though it has RIA, doesn't send money to Brazil via RIA. Every time we've sent money with WU, we were quoted the amount they would receive in local currency, but our family there always got quite a bit less than what was promised. Every time with RIA, 1) we paid a lower fee and 2) they got exactly what was promised. We don't plan to use Western Union any more.
Why is it western union given people hard time to collect their money? After all your service is not for free. Why is there a problem to send 1500 or 2000?
And people are allowed to send to countries like mexico? And yet there is a problem to collect? This sucks..
I was trying to transfer money through Western Union online. But it is not letting me to transfer its asking me to use another method to transfer. I called my bank and they told me that it shows nothing at Bank's end if any transfer was initiated or cancelled. So they asked me to contact Western Union instead. I called Western Union spoke to 3 different people. Spoke to Tanya first she was helpful said I have to go to WU physical location to do the transfer. But I wanted to do it online then she transferred me to Sharlene or Sharlee such a rude representative. People like her leave a bad reputation for the whole company. She was very rude. Was not even answering my question. Seems like she was not even understanding what I was asking. WU should get rid of such employees. Then she transferred me to Mavick who was very helpful and was able to answer why I was not able to do the transfer. Please I request WU to keep employees who understand customer's issues instead of wasting our time. Please get rid of employees like Sharlene who are leaving a bad reputation of the firm. Traditional money transfer aka Western Union will get beat by online transfer cause - convenience, I go through a credit review to send with Western Union while online and crypto is easy. F banks and bureaucracy.

W. U. is undoubtedly the worst of the worst! Thoroughly incompetent, unreliable and dishonest. Recently attempted to transfer a large sum to the Philippines where my wife was waiting at the airport. The transfer was processed, they took the money out of my account and held the funds. NO customer service relief. No email, no telephone, no chat... Now I am trying to recover my money through my bank as "stolen funds." Don't be victimized by this relic of the past. Joined Remitly, resent the $1000. 00 in a matter of seconds.
My transactions are canceled and I only find out when I call. I have to make inquires to another department why I am being blocked from making transactions. I have no criminal record, work hard to earn my money but I cannot decide who I want to send my money to. I am finished even trying with WU, ooh and yes now I have to wait for 5 to 7 working days before my money is returned into my bank account. As I said its just a sad situation.
WU recently instituted a new policy which constitutes harassment and intrusion into personal affairs. A money transfer to my family in China which was being repeated over a year was rejected. I spent 2 hours getting to their compliance dept. which finally told me they were just checking for possible fraud and there was no issue. My money was tied up for 10+ days. I was assured by the first contact that I should not have this problem again. The second time, after 4 days I saw the transfer had not gone through and I had to call. The rep started asking personal questions about how long I knew the transferee (my wife) and even how we contacted each other, when last seen etc. The sheer arrogance! This despite the record of probably 20 transfers in your system. I finally gave up answering their personally intrusive questions and told them to cancel and return my money. This will be another 10 day wait for me. I'm done with WU for good.
I tried to send money from NYC to Florida for a security deposit on an apartment I saw on a real estate company online. Already had made contact with the owner and everything was good to go. Sent the money which they refused to give the recipient. Next day they asked me to sent pictures of both receipts on the recipients phone which I did. Texed all the required info/tracking number/senders name/me and of course the recipients name.The recipient had proper ID/drivers license. Then came the interagation of who the recipient was did I know them personally what was the money for. Then they killed the whole transaction which by now I was ready to do. I understand that there are a lot of scams out there. But for God's sake what happened toyou guys. Just tell people if they get scammed by someone that you're NOT responsible that's all. I mean you've lost all reality of your purpose which was to send and receive money quickly. I will never use them again and it's a shame because I was a long time customer but you managed to run me off.
It's so bad that its unbelievable. Forget refunds if someting goes wrong. They will do everything to drag it out for ever. The staff are not trained. Dont really know anything. I am out of pocket as they made an error with a transfer and I have not received a refund and they dont even answer e-mails.
Disgusting service and attitude towards customers. We tried to send money from Ukraine to Germany, the money was accepted from us and not sent to our recipient. For a week they fooled our heads with calls and different stuiped questions. As a result they said that they would not send the money, because Ukraine is not a safe country. Is it ok that you accept money in Ukraine? Was it safety to take our money? If it's not safety for you in our country, you should close the representative offices in Ukraine in general and do not waste your clients' time.
Sent money 11 months ago. Recipient didn't receive it. Followed up refund for 6 months. They said recipient received it, which is not true. I asked for details of withdrawal transaction to help me investigate but they said case is closed and can't give me the information I'm asking for! Terrible service! Go elsewhere!
I called the customer care number 800 789 124 for help because I was refused by an agent location as they calmed that they only allow customers to receive money after 4pm and the operator was extremely rude handling my complaint. I will never use western union services again! Western union is quick to collect your money and service fees but very slow to hand over the money to the receivers.
If you need the money, then I would suggest using Walmart to Walmart. DO NOT try to. Pick it up in person at Dollar General, they aren't trained very well, I had a western union sent on Friday, and didn't get the money until Monday. So. If you don't need the money right away Western Union would be for you.

I got a notification from my bank that my account was changed with a large amount then i found out it was done through Western Union, Unfortunately Western Union had the information that someone try to use my personal account and they allowed my account to be hacked and did not do anything to stop it or help a customer in any way.
