We use Vudu for streaming rentals. There are times it does not work or has bandwidth issues and drops to 480 or lower resolution to keep from buffering, just like nextflix and everyone else. These issues usually happen on weekends and other high use times and are dependent on your IPS. If you are planning a night of anything more than casual watching, you'd be better off on purchasing (or renting) a DVD. Imagine having your 8 year old over with several friends with the promise of watching a movie just to find out the service is down or slow. Or that 3rd date with someone special and your Vudu keeps buffering! If purchasing from Vudu and keeping in your Vudu account, keep in mind they will have server crashes, server changes, upgrades, etc. Your account could be lost, deleted or damaged. They will be happy to reestablish your account but if you don't have receipts showing the movies you purchased, your out every purchase you made. To make things worse, they do not e-mail receipts of purchases, they keep that in your account... the same one that may have been lost or damaged! Bottom line, Vudu is great for casual rentals on any night that if things stop working you won't be upset saying, "Oh well, time to go to bed", but for anything more, you really should think about something more reliable. Keep in mind, these comments apply to any on line streaming service, not just Vudu.
Have like 352 movies I bought. I can't access any of them. The app doesn't work, you can't download them for offline viewing any longer. I have stopped buying movies on vudu. Garbage service.
Don't waste your money! They promise bonuses and rebates for pre-orders and they NEVER make good on them. You contact customer service and they are absolutely no help. RIPOFF ARTISTS! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
Nothing I purchase or rent plays right. It all buffers like $#*! and I have to restart everything for it to work right and it still doesn't. So frustrating
Tried linking my UltraViolet collection with VUDU per instructions. Received a successful link message to find my movies from UltraViolet nowhere to be found. Stay away. Shame UltraViolet is closing.
I use NordVPN for security. When a VPN is connected and I try to login to Vudu the Captcha human verifier will run continuous without end. With a VPN connected using Vudu is not possible on a PC. Definitely a failure by the company or more likely a disregard for consumers who choose to use a VPN.
It take to long to buffer and you can't even watch the movie you bought without it taking to long to load. Why buy movie on the go if the vudu app doesn't even work.
Was looking for specific movies on amazon that could only be watched by either subscribeing to hbo or other paid networks to watch movies like showtime or etc to watch the movies I wanted so tried VUDU cause I just wanted to rent specific movies without having to subscribe to hbo or other networks to watch and I am very happy that I did I could rent or buy all the movies I wanted and think they look great better then amazon and as far as the reviews I've read from others that say the movies stop playing or stopping or cutting out I've never had one issue with that so it must be there wi-fi network but yet they blame VUDU that's pretty pathetic cause I think they offer great service and I haven't needed to contact them for anything cause like I said I've had no problems for over a year with streaming movies or whatever off there network will be a customer for a long time and will be renting or buying not very often off amazon
We used Vudu after receiving a promotional code for a free movie. First of all, the process to even redeem the code is ridiculous. You have to enter one code, followed by all of your personal information only to be given a second code that can only be used once you sign up for a Vudu account. After going through this unnecessarily lengthy process, I logged into the site only to be met with disorganized chaos. There is no user-friendly way to sort out rentals from purchases and new/upcoming releases from older ones. It isn't even easy to sort out family movies from adult ones. Not all of the movies accept promotion codes, and there is no useful way to narrow that search down either. You have to just sort through everything until you find what you want. I logged into the site on our Roku on our TV so we wouldn't have to watch the movie on my small computer screen. It wouldn't even give us the option to enter the code on the TV. I looked through all of the menu options, and it wasn't there, so we decided to just watch the movie on the computer after all. When I tried to use the code, it wouldn't work. It didn't even say the code was invalid. It just said the code wouldn't work. After over an hour of trying to figure it out, I finally drove to the Red Box down the street and rented the movie we wanted for $1.99. It was absolutely worth it! I wish I had just done that to begin with and not even given Vudu my time. I would not recommend Vudu at all. Why would I give my money to a platform that is insanely complicated and disorganized to use that doesn't even work as advertised?
Look, I'm seeing all these one-star reviews, and I realize experiences can differ greatly so maybe, generally speaking, they have some customer service issues, but all *I* know is I had the most amazing experience. I had signed up for an account, thinking I got the first 3 rentals at 99¢. This seemed to be confirmed when I got my first at that price. Next day, returned excited to get the sequel, but couldn't figure out how to get the price drop on the next movie. It was almost 8pm, so I figured their customer service was long closed, but decided to give them a ring. I got a real, living person with one button press in a phone tree and a total wait of less than 3 movies. Told my story to a great agent named Jared. He apologized but explained the deal had changed from three 99¢ movies on new accounts to only one. I was really bummed but accepted his apology, expecting that to be it. But then he said to give give him a minute, so I sat on hold a short while and he came back and said he put 3 dollar credit on my account! I was blown away and VERY excited--there's no way I could justify spending 4 dollars on a rented movie to my hubby, so it was very cool to have it that cheap!
Seriously, can't speak for anyone else but I was amazed by the customer service. Just saying. (I mean, plus great quality, easy subs, intuitive player on Xbox one app, very impressed)
I have had an account for years with Vudu and it has worked very well 100% of the time. I have read some of the negative reviews and see they are blaming their crappy internet service on Vudu. And the fact they have used all of their capped download/streaming limit or crappy bandwidth on Vudu. I would like to suggest they do more research on their ISP and maybe upgrade or change service provider. Vudu provides the best catalog selections and the best quality audio/video there is. Netflix offers a lot but most is crap. We canceled Netflix because they keep raising their prices and it's not worth it. I don't know anything about Vudu customer service as I have never needed it. I love Vudu. I own over 250 movies on Vudu and have never had a problem playing any of them. Also, If any of your movies have the "Movies Anywhere" symbol, You can connect and watch them on other services like Amazon Prime/Apple TV/and other streaming services that are associated with "Movies Anywhere". "Movies Anywhere" Streams movies and is free to sign up on as well.
3 years ago I put in the new Ghostbusters and the ring a couple days ago I went to watch them Ghostbusters was changed to paranormal activities and the ring was changed to Alfred Hitchcock The Ring from the 1920s I tried to explain to their customer service that I've watched Ghostbusters many times and why was it changed and where would I get a code for a 1927 movie they're exact words were we want the proof of purchase.I said I put it in 3 years ago why do I have to do that because you changed it?
I love vudu I have almost 500 movies and I hardly ever have a problem. I get new releases generally a few weeks before on bluray and it's great I give it two thumbs up
Peeuuw VUDU- One of the worst customer service entities I've ever encountered. They just don't care
Received a $25 gift card for VUDU for Christmas from my wife. Now let me preface by saying that I use the DVD to Cloud function they have quite a bit whereas you convert your DVD's to Cloud for a couple of bucks. I love that function! Getting back to the gift card, I scratched off the PIN and it smeared so I couldn't read it. Used a coin and softly scratched and it still smeared. No problem (I thought) as I just figured that I contact their customer service dept, submit a pic of the GC as I'm sure they'll want as proof and I'm good to go. Couple of days max right? NOT... Still going on after almost 6 weeks now and this after having to resubmit everything including pics as they "lost" my original request which they told me that would "escalated" immediately. I'm at a loss as to what to do but I guess I'll just wait this out as I'm clearly dealing here with people of very low customer service experience and to be fair, maybe not their fault but possibly victims of poor training if any.
After downloaing lots of movies and TV episodes for my 5 years old to watch while traveling...
All of the sudden, none of the downloaded items ard recognized by the PC nor by our Apple products... Vudu's answer is to REdownload ALL my items agzin and PAY again my internet provider for the 100'S of GB of downloads...
It's a money making scam...
I gave it 5 stars, would have given 4. However... a lot of 1 star on here doesn't have anything to do with Vudu from reading their review.
I have had Vudu for a few years... in the beginning it would buffer with me as well, however, I had 6 mbps, I now have 24 mbps and it never buffers even on 4K movies.
I do like to have a hard copy, however, we are dropping most hard copies and opting for this video library on Vudu. It is convenient, good quality, intuitive. Love the way you can click on actresses/actors and shows you all their movies they have in stock, and love the sorting. They give great deals weekly like $4.99 movies, 99 cent rentals, bundle packages... they also have some new movies where you can opt for the hard copy and the digital immediately! WE have done this, the movie comes from Wal-Mart I think... I would have given 4 stars, deducting 1 because customer service isn't too great, its ok, but mainly because you can't upgrade a standard version to a HD version. I had opted to upload a dvd and pay only $2 for standard version and wished I had went HD... They should have a button to upgrade any standard to HD if you change mind or come across more money. The upgrade would be $3. Instead, customer service said they would delete the movie and you had to go in and buy the HD full price after you had already paid the $2.
They have gotten better over years. Looks like they are here to stay.
Anyway... great movies, great weekly deals, great intuitive site.
I have been using VUDU for a while now, I get blu-ray movies and redeem the digital codes, I purchase movies directly from them as well when there is a deal, and I like my UV accounts with them. The service is generally good.
However, their customer service is atrocious. I accidentally made a purchase because I wasn't properly prompted on their website whether or not I wanted to confirm my order. I notified VUDU immediately afterwards, I never touched the movies that were part of the bundle. It was an accident. I called them, it took about 15-20 minutes on hold then I got someone who seemed less than sure of themselves, but confident that I would get a refund. This was February 8th. I never heard back, never got a confirmation number for the call/dispute, etc. I called back on February 14th, again with a long wait, finally got through to someone, they said they would have to look into it, put me on hold for another 10 minutes.
Finally the rep came back on, they did apologize for the very long hold time, and they said that I would hear back sometime in the next 3-4 days, this was on top of the week I have already waited.
I then got a reply email from them today saying I was SOL.
Bottom line, I will continue to use VUDU for my blu-ray digital redemptions, but I will absolutely not be a customer of theirs in any other capacity. The buck stops here.
I thought it was an awesome idea to be able to create a digital movie library you could view just about everywhere. However I have been dealing with VUDU for several years now and I have 51 movies or more that have been removed from my library. I have spoken with several reps, I have talked with a supervisor, I have even written the corporate office and sent the letter certified to insure it was received. I have not heard back from VUDU. I have verified through movies anywhere that the movies were pulled on VUDU'S side. When I spoke to a socalled manager he advised that the issue seems to stem from an issue with ultraviolet which some other customers have experienced the same issue, but since they never had an actual license with them it was nothing they were willing to do. UNBELIEVABLE! If ypou enter into a partnership with someone you are taking part of that responsibility! The fact that VUDU doesnt seem to care and is unwilling to refund my money or movies even though they can clearly see the movies were once there is crazy to me. I cant believe that they do business this way. And are currently getting away with it. Ive never had any other issues with VUDU, as a matter of fact I would always suggest to friends and family that they should open an account with them. I still use the app because even though I have 51 movies or more missing my I still have over 400 movies in my personal library. I am not giving up on this injustice though, I will continue to pursue even look at legal action until there is a resolution to this problem
No help from those son of $#*!es! Cant watch 600gb I paid for!
Do not give them a cent! They turned me to torrent and hacking.
My life goal? DESTROY VUDU
This company has issues with it's app on Samsung TVs. Common errors in playback, distirted video and sound, sometimes parts of the movie are unplayable. They also do not recognize proper HDCP compliant computers and require your monitor be connected to PC by HDMI, even though DVI cables are also HDCP compliant. So, my advice to Samsung TV owners is: Only buy movies from Vudu that are part of MoviesAnywhere, so you can play them with the Amazon player, and NEVER rent from them.
Answer: I would just stay away from vudu altogether. They are the worst company I have ever interacted with. I spent a lot of money on videos with them and I cannot watch any of them because the just buffer literally every 5 seconds and then I downloaded them through vudu to go and they won't play on there either. I keep getting a message that vudu cannot authenticate my account. I e-mailed customer services 3 times and have never received a response. I have wasted about $1000. 00 on movies that I cannot watch. I have started using amazon prime video and other sites as well and have no problems whatsoever. Just stay away from vudu they are just taking your money.
Answer: I have had nothing but problems with vudu. My opinion is just stay away and use another company. They are the worst. You will waste your money.
