DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY WILL SHIP YOU WINE WITHOUT YOUR AUTHORIZATION, WHEN YOU REFUSE THE UNEXPECTED SHIPMENT AND ASK FOR A REFUND, THEY WILL DEDUCT SHIPPING COSTS AND A 15% RESTOCKING FEE FROM YOUR CREDIT. A REAL SCAM! MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR SINGING UP FOR!
Two issues. My cart check out was a promo price but I got charged $177. I later tried to cancel the subscription but NEVER got a response from their customer service.
Joined the American Cellars club which is part of Vinesse. Introductory bottles of wine were good, so decided to stay with the club. The second batch of 6 bottles had 4 decent and 2 bad wines. Third shipment had 4 bad wines and 2 good. They also double shipped an order and charged me twice. I had to call Vinesse and stop payment for their error, and have the double shipment cancelled. Then they sent a letter on April 7th, stating that I would be charged a $30 yearly fee due to a new California law. Before receiving any more shipments I cancelled my membership on April 14th. They still charged my credit card for the $30 membership. I called and they refused to reverse the charge. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT BUY FROM VINESSE! Besides the hassle and errors of using Vinesse, I found the wines to be over hyped, and I can find better wines at a better price locally.
Like many of your reviewers, I received wine I did not order. I said prove it and they sent me a "confirmation" - so I asked "confirmation of what?" Apparently they sent an email which basically said YOU MUST DO SOMETHING TO OPT OUT OR YOU WILL RECEIVE ONE. And then it gets better - they do not have a working email! It goes to an "UNATTENDED SITE."
SIgned up for membership and then cancelled. They continued on and then didn't accept responsibility. They also dropped off shipments without my direct signature and continued to bill me. When calling about it, they offered to charge me a fee and restocking cost, and then cancelled... STAY AWAY FROM VINESSE and their TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Very poor service. Automatically sends wine and if wine is not accepted they charge you for shipping and handling and restocking fees. Stay away from any deals offered. Very poor company to deal with
We do offer replacement shipments for returned shipments at no additional charge, as we know sometimes deliveries take place when customers are not available to sign. Our terms can be found on each offer you enroll through explaining the automatic shipments and we are happy to chat about it with you!
I received 6 bottles of wine which was vinegar with residue in the bottom. I called the customer service to inform that that is not wine. Vinesse refuse to replace the wine, two weeks after they sent onother case of 6 bottles of vinegar and charge my card $144.00. DO NOT ORDER VINE FROM THIS Co. It's a FRAUD
NO STARS
Hello Michael,
We are very sorry to hear you did not have a good experience with Vinesse. We do stand by our satisfaction guarantee, so I'm not sure why you would have been refused a replacement. We will be reaching out to you in order to resolve this matter. If we are unsuccessful in reaching you, please do not hesitate to call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-823-5527, Monday through Friday, 6:00am -4:00pm PST. We look forward to assisting you!
After an initial purchase 'deal,' I didn't hear anything from Vinesse for 2 months. Since my wife and I are retired, we are often away from home. When we returned from a roughly 2 week road trip, we found that UPS had tried 3 times to deliver a half-dozen bottles of wine (cost with delivery charges, over $120), held the wine for a few days and returned it to Vinesse. I was shocked when my charge card was billed for about $40, for a wine I didn't specifically order, which I never saw, didn't expect, and was returned to seller. This was supposedly a return delivery charge and restocking fee.
Vinesse had my cell phone number and could have either texted me or left a phone message some time during the 2 weeks we were away and we could have either had UPS hold the wine longer for a small charge, or returned earlier, since we can set our own schedule. None of this was done. When I called Vinesse on this, their rep stated that in the literature sent with the original deal, this return/restocking information was stated (true). When stated that I didn't even know that the wine was coming, they offered to send another 6-pack (for the same $120+) but absolutely refused to refund or credit the $40, simply restating their written policy. Fortunately, when I disputed this with my credit card company, the nondelivery charge was removed, but their customer rep was absolutely dedicated to getting the company that money. After the discussion with her, I immediately cancelled my membership. The only good thing I can say about these guys is that their wine quality is actually pretty good, but service is really bad!
BEWARE!
I am very disappointed in Vinesse and the way they do business. I had enjoyed their wines and was comfortable with going online to delay or cancel a shipment, but in December I was looking at my checking account balance and there was a $268.00 charge pending on my debit card from Vinesse. I called Vinesse and they claimed it was a Christmas "bonus" shipment. It was a bonus alright... to Vinesse. I had not ordered the wine and it was not part of my agreement. It was also approximately $100.00 more than I usually spend on a shipment. They claimed to have sent a mailer prior to shipping the wine that I was supposed to send back if I didn't want it. I did not receive a mailer and that practice was not what I agreed to in joining the club. I was told they could not cancel the order since it had already been shipped, but I could refuse the order when it was delivered. They sent me an online form to complete requesting a refund and I was told it would take 7-10 business days to see my refund. That was on 12-23. On 1-6, I get an email that I was entitled to a credit minus shipping, which was more than $20.00 and it would take 7-10 additional business days to show up in my account. I have disputed the shipping charge, and I will by no means do business with a company that uses these unscrupulous tactics to make a dime.
SCAM Alert, I registered to this service as offered by Delta Airlines and was VERY VERY disappointed, the selection on wine is CRAP and the "Shipping Charges are RIDICULOUS! I ordered 2 bottles and got charged $57.00 out of wich 17 were Wine and $30.00 for Shipping and Handling. Fortunately I was able to stop the 3rd Shippment because they charge $15.00 per bottle shipped! So You end up Paying a total of $26.00 dollars for a crap quality bottle of wine! Save yourself the hassle, on any supermarket for $26.00 you can get a SUPERB Bottle of Wine
I purchased an introductory offer from Vinesse (8 bottles) for $39.98. I sent a check to avoid them later charging my credit card for unwanted shipments. A month or so later I got an email advising that a new shipment was being sent. I immediately called customer service and told them to cancel that shipment. They said "too late, it shipped yesterday". I had not been notified before and had no opportunity to decline! I told them I would not accept that and would refuse the shipment, which I did do when it arrived. I also formally canceled my "wine club account". When my next bank statement arrived there was a charge from my checking account paid to Vinesse for $137.71! I complained to the bank and they are working on it. A few days later Vinesse emailed me to say they had credited "my account" for $96 that I could use to purchase wine! Apparently they had charged me for shipping the refused wine shipment both directions to the tune of $40+! If there happens to be a class action suit against Vinesse, count me in!
VINESSE asked me for access to one of my credit cards as a part of participating in a monthly shipment of wine and I approved a 6 bottle per month program and the resulting set charge to my credit card. This month VINESSE doubled my shipment and doubled the credit charge amount without my approval. Subsequent calls to VINESSE customer service indicated that VINESSE has evidently sent out a letter about this double shipment and because I didn't say no, VINESSE says they were legally allowed to make the shipment AND double the amount being charged to my credit card. I know what it feels to be robbed and this feels EXACTLY the same without the gun!
Dear Jay L., we appreciate your posted review and regret for your experience with the ‘toast to the holidays’ order. Our intentions with the holiday order was to delight our wine club members with the additional wines to enjoy over the holiday season at the convenience of no additional shipping cost. It appears you may have not received or had opportunity to read our letter we had sent our members about this special holiday order. We did send out the letter notification well in advance. We take this issue very seriously and would like the opportunity to work with you, as we have a few options to rectify your negative experience. Please call our customer service line at (800) 823-5527, Monday - Friday, between 6:00 AM PT - 5:00 PM PT. Thank you.
My husband ordered a case and we tasted the first bottle and it was awful. If you were a junkie looking for a fix, I guess you would drink it. We cancelled our subscription. Hope they honor it.
We're sorry to hear you weren't happy with the wines that were sent to you. If you would like you can take part in our satisfaction guarantee and receive varietals of your choice. A representative in our customer service department would be happy to assist you in this process. We can be reached at 1(800)-823-5527, and our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST. Thank you for giving us a shot, and we hope you have a happy holiday season.
I received an offer from UA two months ago saying that I can get 2500 miles for $49. So I signed up for the membership. After a while, my boyfriend who lived in the same apartment with me also signed up for the membership. We just noticed today that they sent my boyfriend the second shipment with the charge of $123. The weird thing is that his account has no miles. We contacted the customer service. The staff said that they have a terms"Enrollment miles and discounted introductory wine offer limited to one per household." I return to the promotion website and couldn't find it in anywhere. Then I found "terms and conditions" with a link. After I click the link, I found this sentence. This is fraudulent advertisement! They didn't even put it on the promotional page. Everyone please be aware of this. And the wine is not good, especially for the second shipment. $123 for 6 bottles of wines. You can get a better deal at other wine club. We both canceled our membership and will never buy wines from this club!
Avoid! They send you a letter offering 6 boxes. What you don realize is that at the bottom of the pagw you return, in very small letters, it says you actually is joining their club! Pathetic!
Clicked on Hawaiian miles offer. Read every fine print. Placed order and was given zero information during the process or on the receipt that the offer I selected did not qualify as apparently I was a repeat customer and therefore would be not valid but decided to just go ahead and complete the purchase AT TRIPLE THE PRICE of the offer I selected. Called immediately after seeing the large $$$ hold on my CC and they refused to cancel the order even though it was only "in processing". I therefore can clearly characterize these guys as CROOKS! Think you can just refuse shipment? Guess again, they also use aggressive shipping agents who slam on door for minutes and pound doorbell repeatedly to get you to accept shipment by just opening the door... and then will put it down, leave quickly and call it delivered with no signature!
In the end, working with the BBB, sending proof of emails, image captures of the offer and lots back and forth dialogue refuting their lies, I finally got these scum bags to concede the offer and refund my $$. Never again. Avoid the hassle and look elsewhere.
Wine is nothing exceptional and the charges are ridiculous! Just saw I had a $30 charge added also. Can't reach them by phone to cancel or return for credit. REPORTING to BBB!
I cancelled my order and membership and they charged me $30 for cancelling. I cancelled as soon as I was notified I would be getting a shipment in the following month.
Hello John. Thank you for your review. For cancelling your wine club membership, we do not charge our members a cancellation fee of $30. There may be a misunderstanding relating to the $30 fee, which an annual fee that is assessed, but then is issued as a voucher (credit) to the member's account and can be used towards an upcoming wine club shipment or towards any wine shop purchase made online. We would be happy to do a review of your cancelled membership account and further discuss the $30 charge. Please contact our customer support line at phone # 800-823-5527. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM PT - 5:00 PM PT.
I signed up through United Mileage Plus for the Vinesse Wine Club and received two orders. I found the wines were overpriced compared to the quality, and was discouraged to find that none of the wines are available in the open market, signalling to me that these are relabels of some other brand. I cancelled my membership. Before I cancelled my membership, I was curious to see what the sparkling wine program offered. However the only way to see the total price on the website is to 'join the club'. So, I click the button to join and see the cost with taxes and shipping and realize that it's ridiculously overpriced. So I immediately cancelled my membership. Moments later I receive a cancellation confirmation email. Then, three weeks later a half case of overpriced sparkling wine lands at my door. I notified them of the mistake, I'm sent an email stating that I can 1) return the wine at my own expense 2) will be charged a 15% restocking fee, and 3) will be issued a credit, not a refund.
Beware that their 'guarantee' is a lie. They state "No Strings, No Commitments. We want you to enjoy your experience. Because we know that when you have a great experience, you'll let your friends and family in on the secret.
Whether you're a new enthusiast or an experienced wine lover, we know you'll appreciate our value and convenience. We like simple."
The secret is this company is a scam, leveraging the good brand of American Airlines, Hilton, and United Airlines to dupe customers.
Hello Brent,
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to apologize for your experience as we aim to ensure all of our members have a unique and personable one. Our wine directors work very hard to search the world of wine to ensure that we are able to deliver you the good life in exotic and delectable wines! Using our 20+ years in the industry, we try and mix in these newly discovered wines with the varietals from the many different wineries we have built relationships with. Many of these wineries do not sell to the public, and we pride ourselves on being able to offer them to our members, as you wouldn't have a chance to try them otherwise. We understand that with such a wide variety in taste preferences from person to person, some of our members will be over the moon about a specific varietal while that same varietal might not have others writing home about it. We do want to ensure that ALL of our members receive wines that they absolutely fall in love with! To help with this goal, we have a satisfaction guarantee for every bottle that we send out. What this means is that we will replace any wine you aren't satisfied with within a 45 day period, at no cost, in your next wine club shipment. If you don't have an upcoming wine club shipment, you can still take part in receiving replacements, we just ask that you cover the shipping cost for the replacement bottles. If you would like to take part in this, or acquire more information, our customer support representatives would be happy to take care of this for you. We can be reached at 1-800-823-5527 Monday - Friday 6:00am-5:00pm. If for any reason you are unable to call to inquire about replacements, you can shoot us an email at support@vinesse.com and we will get back to you within 3 business days. In reviewing your membership with us, we show that you had enrolled into the Sparkling Wine Club via the Member Service Center on 8/04 and cancelled it the same day. We do try to inform our members prior to enrolling with us that shipments are processed immediately after the enrollment process is completed. We mention issuing a credit to your account due to the various ways of paying for the wines we offer. When we say credit, it is the same thing as a refund and your account will reflect that when we issue said credit. We would like to apologize for any confusion in this matter and will be reaching out to you to find a working resolution for you.
I like the wine selection, all the wine taste good and I don't have to go to the store reading what the wine will taste like. I think I am paying for convenience. It is easy to cancel.
Answer: I don; t know what the policy is. They did agree to cancel the monyhly membership after much talking but claimed the box of wine had been sent out. They asked me not to accept the wine but UPS delivered it to a neighbor, therefore, I had to pick it up and return it. I had to pay UPS for returning the wine. It cost me money and I got no value.
Answer: I am in the same position! The website isnt even working and I cant find a phone number
Vinesse has a rating of 1.3 stars from 317 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Vinesse most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wine club. Vinesse ranks 100th among Wine sites.
Dear S. S.,
Thank you for taking the time to send us your review. As a wine club provider, Vinesse does take a great deal of care in the wine selection process when choosing wines to feature to our wine club members. We also realize that our wine club member's taste for wine is a completely subjective from one another, and we want each and every one of our members to be satisfied with every bottle they receive. For that reason, we do offer a 45-day satisfaction guarantee with our wine bottles. This means we will offer to replace any bottle of wine our member is not satisfied with within a 45 day period of shipment delivery, at no cost additional cost. The replacement bottle(s) will be included in the member's next wine club shipment. In a situation where there is a double wine club shipment and the member is charged twice, we would want to have the duplicate order cancelled before shipping, but if it had already shipped, we would then take the efforts to have the shipment returned. Then would address the duplicate charge, to offer a credit for the returned shipment. Regarding the $30 annual membership fee, the fee is returned back to our active members in a form of a $30 wine voucher that is mailed to them. The wine voucher can then be used towards a future wine club order or can apply it towards an online purchase from our wine shop. If membership is cancelled and the member did not redeem the wine voucher, in most cases, the wine club will issue a $30 credit back to the member's account that was used for billing. I would love the opportunity to further review your membership account to confirm what all transpired, especially the outcome of the $30 annual membership fee. At your earliest convenience, can you please either reply back in a private message or contact our customer service line at 1-800-823-5527 so I can further assist you? Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM PT - 5:00 PM PT. Thank you.
