I wish I had seen these reviews before signing up for one of their promotional offers. I got 8 bottles of reds for $50, and then waited for an email regarding a next shipment so that I could decide if I wanted to accept or reject the shipment. No email ever came. Instead, on a day that I was expecting another package delivery, the Vinesse delivery came. Without inspecting the shipping label, I signed for the package. BIG mistake. It turned out to be an unasked for delivery of 6 bottles from Vinesse.
After several phone calls to 'Customer Service' it turns out the only way for me to know a shipment was about to be sent, was if I went to 'my account' every day, to watch for the notification. I have never belonged to a wine club where they did not clearly let you know beforehand that a shipment was pending, and where you could either accept or reject it.
We finally settled on a lower price, and now I have 6 bottles of wine that I had never asked for, and probably could have gotten equal or better quality, for half the price.
Stay away from this company!
God forbid you try to cancel. I emailed to unsubscribe, got charged over $150 for 6 bottles of wine. Emailed again to request a cancellation and get a refund. No answer, tried again after I recieved an email that wine had shipped. Emailed again to stop the shipment and recieve a refund. Crickets. Called several times, no answer. Wine came, called again finally an answer with the most snooty man stating he can not give me a full refund even if I go through hassel of shipping the wines back. Horrible customer service and definately not worth over $150 fpr 6 bottles. You might think the anitial promotion is a steal but not worth it, trust me! It is a recket and shame on the "cutomer service" rep.
Same as everyone else, no advance notice of wine being delivered. I cancelled my membership and still got wine delivered, now they want me to pay for it to be returned and a restocking fee!
I joined Vinesse as part of a promotion from united airlines. I ordered wine and did NOT receive any notification of my order, no projected shipping dates, no info on my member number, nothing. About 2 weeks later I get an email from FED EX saying a shipment is being delivered the next day and I have to sign for it. Um I have a job, I am not home all day, and that this point there is nothing I can do.
The next shipment only indication that something was ordered/etc is a charge on my card. I chatted with someone on their website and was able to go in and I tried to stop the shipment. I thought I was successful. Two days ago I got another email from FEDEX saying my shipment is being delivered the next day and I have to sign for it. Due to the Pandemic I am not at my apt but in another state for the duration. People vacation, have jobs, etc you can't expect them to be home with no notice of a shipment.
I tried customer service. I called due to the pandemic no one is there. They told me try and use the online chat or email support. The online chat must have been a computer because the responses were not complete, and the time between my question and their response was 2+ minutes. I told them I wanted to suspend shipments during the pandemic the computer response was they cancelled my membership. I have no idea what this means. I will have to protest any and all charges which is a big pain in the neck. What a rip off.
I only gave them 2 stars is because the wines I received were good, but the hassle of dealing with is not worth the wine. I can go to the store and buy them there.
I ordered their introductory special. Info said no strings or obligations. I understood I was joining a wine club, but previous clubs always notified me to ask if I wanted the next shipment. They, apparently, offer no notification. I received a shipment and called immediately. I had to return the wine to California at MY EXPENSE ($30) and sustain a 15% restocking fee. I had originally paid by check, and they had WITHDRAWN $153+ FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. When I called 2 weeks later to inquire about my refund, they claimed they never received the return.
A total scam. There are better, cheaper wine clubs out there.
JUST STAY AWAY. THESE WINES ARE REALLY WORST. I TRASHED ALMOST 4 WINES FROM THE INTRODUCTORY OFFER. THEY SAY INTRODUCTORY OFFER AND ONCE YOU PROVIDE YOUR PAYMENT INFORMATION, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS THEY KEEP DELIVERING PACKAGES EVERYMONTH AND CHARGE YOUR CARD FOR 192 DOLLARS. 12 BOTTLES OF WINE 192 DOLLARS WHICH TASTE REALLY WORST...
After canceling the wine club over a year ago, I just received a case of wine. Returned it to the company, but they said they that they would refund except for restocking which is BS. When I asked where my refund was, they said they received the shipment but were waiting on a call back to process the refund. After asking for the restocking to be waived the said they couldn't because the shipment was on a delay and not canceled. Long story short I am out $40.00 due to their shadyness.
Canceling any time without penalty is a lie! Also, if you decide to return the wine, you will have to pay for shipment and 15% restocking. Avoid this company!
You guys don't get very good ratings. After having experiencing it first hand, I can see why. I filed a BBB complaint. I doubt that they will do anything.
First the club sent the wine to my billing address (It only took 2 days) no one was home and it was sent back (took 3 days). It's now the 19th of February and I have been waiting since the 7th for the replacemnt. The best they can tell me is its on their refrigerated truck enroute to Fedex (12 days). No time frame available. I acncelled my membership.
I responded to Vinesse's introductory offer that came in the mail. I didn't want to get hooked into automatic shipments, so I paid by check (March 9,2021). For the same dollar amount, my checking account was charged DIRECTLY on March 18. The check was never cashed. Instead, Vinesse took my checking account number and routing number, right off the check.
This means that they can and will auto-debit me for future shipments WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
I'm not putting up with that. I'm closing my checking account and opening a new one.
DON'T WRITE VINESSE A CHECK... Also, the wine was pretty bad :p
So I signed up for this with a promo that came with my husbands cigars. I hated the wine and threw out 3 of the 6 bottles. Tried canceling and their website is made to confuse you. It sends you in circles and the cancel button takes you right back to the front page. I emailed and had them say they would cancel and that no orders were currently pending. The next day a $149.07 charge hits my account. I email and nothing. I contacted my bank and this company said that a delivery was shipped to me and they never recvd a cancellation request. They provided a ups delivery note. My ring never caught this delivery and I never signed. I have always had to have someone 21 or older sign for all wine deliveries. They then said - In their very confusing email- that they would submit a refund but not in the form of the wine. As of today no refund. And no crappy wine. When I contacted them again this is what I got: contact customer service. So who has been emailing me? And apparently they are liars. So no wine and I'm out $149.07. This is a scam.
I usually don't write reviews about companies, but the treatment received by Vinesse deserved that I take the time to narrate my experience. This company excels at scamming customers. Their website will publicize something like free shipping and handling for orders with at least 12 bottles and then charge you for it since it doesn't apply for club memberships; the announcement on their website reads: "FREE SHIPPING on 12+ Bottles!" Then, there's the fact that club membership advertises a price, and then you get charge something completely different. The best part of all is when you call their customer service and are abrasive in their treatment. They blame the customer and take zero responsibility.
I was part of the "World of Wine" club, which states that their wine is "$20.25–$23 per bottle
Plus tax and delivery". I ordered 12 bottles, taking the highest price of US$ 23 that comes to US$ 276. Tax in Texas is 8.25%, so that's another US$ 22.77 for a total of US$ 298.77. However, the charge was US$ 378.78, which would be for shipping and handling, according to their representative. That's US$ 80.01 for S&H, which for 12 bottles their homepage says it was going to be free, and the regular rates chart says is only US$ 42.
There are better and cheaper options for better quality wine where the customer is important and treated with respect. Also, they won't surprise you with higher than initially promised prices.
Please don't fall for this Company. Worse company ever. You make a one time purchase and it becomes a membership! They start charging you monthly without your consent and if you want to send package back they will charge you 15% to restock and you have to pay the shipping! THIS IS A FRAUD! PLEASE STAY AWAY! I WONDER IF SOMETHING CAN BE DONE AGAINST THE COMPANY!
We are sorry that you feel this way about our company. We have many different offers that are for our wine clubs and each one explains the shipments you will be receiving. If you want to make one time orders, our website is the best place to do it and our customer support team is available to chat about any questions you may have when making your purchase.
What a rip off!
You can go to their website and see the price but because of only getting 4 bottles they can rip you off. Will never buy from them again!
I just ordered wine from Vinesse for the first time and absolutely loved every drop that hit my tongue. Worth every penny. Dont ask, just order some and try it for yourself!
Hello,
Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We put a great deal of effort and time into each and every one of our wine club shipments. We're enthralled you have enjoyed the selections sent to you thus far! Thank you for choosing Vinesse, cheers!
I ordered a six-bottle sampler of reds. Tried the first two. Neither was any good. I won't make them take back the rest and I sure won't share it with my friends! They would think I made it myself.
This is the best wine Ive had in awhile and ironically it isnt locally bought. The wine showed up within 7 business days, which is when it was promised to show. No complaints with that!
Hello Greg,
Thank you for providing us with your feedback. We're thrilled that you have enjoyed the wines that have been sent to you thus far. We put a great deal of time and effort into each of the shipments we send out to our members. If you ever have any inquiries or issues, please don't hesitate to give us a call/send us an email! Thank you for choosing Vinesse, cheers!
Biggest complaint is that you only ship UPS, which is the worst shipping company ever. They would not allow me to redirect shipment to a UPS store. Fed Ex did when I was in WSJ Wine club (got out of it because I joined this one) You need to allow the use of FedEx, or any shipping company the customer wants! I had to pay for wine that I could not accept at home because UPS only delivers when I am at work which was shipped back. I then had to pay a restock fee, then had to pay to have it shipped back to a UPS store which charged me $10 to pick it up. All in all, 6 bottles of wine that was supposed to cost about $90 cost me about $180! RIDICULOUS!
Hello Don,
Thank you for the feedback with your review as it will help us become better as a company! We apologize that your experience with us was anything less than an outstanding one. We do strive to meet and exceed all of our members wine needs! We understand the frustration and inconvenience with needing to be present to sign for shipments of wine, as many of our members are busy during business hours with work and what not. Due to the shipments containing alcohol, it is against the law for a courier to drop off the shipment without first obtaining a signature from an adult 21 years or older. For shipments going to CO, we have certain obligations with UPS as our courier. Typically, for members that aren't able to arrange for someone to be around during business hours, we recommend shipping your wine to a workplace. This is generally a convenient alternative, and it actually saves $2.50 on having our shipments delivered to a business. If shipping to your workplace isn't a viable option, another possible solution is to have the shipment held at the local UPS facility, as they will hold the shipment for up to 5 business days, free of charge. You can arrange for this after they attempt to deliver your shipment to your residence. You would be able to swing by a local UPS facility on a week end and start enjoying some of our delicious wines! In reviewing your account, we do see that we had to send out a replacement shipment to you due to the failed delivery of the first shipment. We did issue a refund for the first shipment, in the amount of $59.99, which should already reflect in your bank account. It was a refund less our 15% restocking fee. We have this in place due to the condition in which wines are returned to us after being returned to sender are often unable to be resold and they are disposed of. We take special measures to ensure that the wines reach you in optimal condition so that you can enjoy them immediately. If you don't see the credit on your account, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Support Team as they will be happy to look into this for you. We issued a credit immediately upon receipt of the return of the first order. Again, we would like to thank you for the feedback you have provided us. It is through these types of encounters that we are able to improve and provide an even higher standard of service.
I previously wrote a review complaining about Vinesse customer service. I had called and spoke to an agent and requested no more cases sent, however another case arrived and I was billed.
A customer service agent reached out to me and offered assistance to review and resolve the case. They made arrangements to have the case returned and issued me a refund. And this was over a fair amount of time because I do not often get the time off during working hours to deal with this stuff. They were very accommodating.
Vinesse is certainly not a scam. The wines that I tried from them were quite good, i had maybe one that I thought was really not up to scratch, but quite enjoyed the others. I would have given them 4/5 stars initially if they had only given such great customer service from the beginning.
If you are looking for a wine club, Vinesse is certainly an option, and I would recommend them. If for any reason you do not receive the customer service you expect, reach out to them, they appear quite willing to go the distance to make you happy.
Thank you Adam, we appreciate the follow up with your initial review. Glad we were able to assist you with the matter!
I wish I had seen all the reviews on here before trying their promo offer. I received my wines, the California ones were actually quite good, the French and Italian not so much. However I had the same issue with the wines "attempted delivered" for 3 days when there was no note or notification, they were sent back to vinesse who resent it which was good on their part. However I spoke to a customer service agent after I received my wines and said that with all the delivery hassle I had no further interest in receiving any more wine. He said that he would cancel and make sure I didn't receive further shipments. I just got charged again, and after calling customer service they tell me that there is no note on the account that I ever spoke with anyone and my account was not cancelled. So now the shipment cannot be cancelled(so they claim) and I am certain that when I try to return it they will stick me with hefty "restocking" and shipment fees. This should never have happened as I called their agent and explicitly said I no longer wanted any further shipments. If they simply said no problem we will cancel shipment and refund payment, then I wouldn't be here taking the time to write a negative review.
Answer: I don; t know what the policy is. They did agree to cancel the monyhly membership after much talking but claimed the box of wine had been sent out. They asked me not to accept the wine but UPS delivered it to a neighbor, therefore, I had to pick it up and return it. I had to pay UPS for returning the wine. It cost me money and I got no value.
Answer: I am in the same position! The website isnt even working and I cant find a phone number
Vinesse has a rating of 1.3 stars from 317 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Vinesse most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wine club. Vinesse ranks 100th among Wine sites.

We offer a wide variety of red and white wines from all of the world to better accommodate said wine needs. We'd like to apologize for any confusion over future shipment dates when you enrolled into our wine club! Our aim is not to send any unwanted shipments to our members. We think there might be some confusion over the Member Service Portal as well. This is the tool on our site that helps customize each and every one of your wine club shipments with us. We list all information about past, present, and future shipments within the Member Service Portal. You wouldn't need to check this on a daily basis to keep tabs on any upcoming shipments, as these dates are listed under any wine clubs you may belong to with us. In addition, you can alter the shipments dates by delaying the shipment to better fit your wine needs. We also give you control over how many bottles are sent, as well as the wine preference that will accommodate any requests you may have. In addition to the Member Service Portal providing shipment info, we also supply this information in the confirmation email that is sent when you first enroll with us. We provide the first, second, and third shipment dates to keep you well informed of shipments that will be arriving. Of course, you can alter these dates and delay any shipments for up to 6 months at any given time. Again, we're very sorry for any confusion over how to manage your wine club with us, but we would like to thank you for your feedback. We will work even harder in bettering our brand to best fit your wine needs in the future!
