I use Venmo on a daily basis almost. It's a convenient way to share a bill among friends. It's kind of social media for finances as I can like my friends transactions as well (if they are set to public). I don't like much that PayPal is behind this company but so far it's working smoothly. Yet, I wouldn't recommend to transfer large amounts of money, I limit to around $100, as it isn't bank.
I have been using Venmo for about 3 years. It is useful when going to restaurants with friends and it is difficult to split the bill. I have also found it to be extremely useful in living with roommates. One person will pay for water, PG&E, or WiFi and everyone else will Venmo them for it to split the cost. I dont know anyone in my friend group who doesnt have it. The only problem is that is takes a day or two to process, so if you need the money immediately its probably not your best option. I recommend this app to anyone who is sharing costs of small items.
My son recently died and I've had people want to send donations. EVERY single person has had difficulty finding me by phone number or email. If they sent a friend request that worked on some of them. I chatted with Venmo this morning and was given a laundry list of things to try, how can some people get through but now I have to share a QR code, change this setting, change that setting, oh, and they can try by your user name. I find this embarrassing, disgusting and unacceptable. It shouldn't be this much work, especially in my time of grief, and more so that they claim how "easy" it is. I have one more person trying to send a donation and if they can't get it to work I am shutting this ridiculous app down and will NEVER use it again.
This company froze my small business account for verification, once account was verified. Venmo decided to to freeze and keep my money. Every time I tried contacting Venmo to see reason for this decision. I never got reason or explanation. Company then stated just wait 180 days w/o reason. This was truly my first experience with being robbed..
This guys are the worst kinds of of business matt in the dispute is rude dont even look at or help I didn't not make the payment and he said I did wow then I call customer service and they hang up on me how bad they are they don't have a yelp this company not good at all
Sent money via VENMO to the wrong person. Immediately realized and did everything I was supposed to do but the jerk wouldn't send the money back. Couldn't cancel once it went through. They did nothing and the person got to keep my $250. Beside just being a dishonest jerk it was 9 days before Xmas. Merry freaking Christmas. What a way to make a living. Just open as many acct. As you can and wait for someone to make a mistake, they won't do anything about it. I will never use them again.
I recently had displeasure of working with Venmo over a charge dispute, unfortunately after unsuccessfully disputing the charges venmo kept allowing the vendor to charge my account monthly so I closed my account with venmo
I just signed up for a venmo card my husband was using it for his business so I decided to use it for mines. I signed up and received a payment. I tried to transfer to my bank it didn't work. Okay so I order the card. It takes a week or so to come. I called customer service they are saying my acct is frozen and under review? This makes no sense! I waited for the card because customer service said I'd be able to use the card when it came. Got the card tried to activate now my account is restricted? I have to wait for a specialist to unfreeze my account and they also only answer emails. BS Venmo… I WILL NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO USE THIS SERVICE!
On 9-7-23 my venmo account was frozen called customer service told to send ID and wait 7 to 10 business days, on 7 day account was still frozen, venmo customer service stated that weekends don't count for 7 to 10 day wait, Told them they should of told me, on 9/16/23, I get a email stating account is unfrozen go to use card at Walmart and it declined call venmo and they stated account frozen check email, I check email and they frozen account again and then closed my account and stated they will hold money in my account for 180 to prevent lose and if they have funds they will email me to transfer
On May 31, an acquaintance sent me $399 and when I tried to transfer my money to my bank I had trouble opening my account (with a total of $436 because I had money I had never transferred to my bank account) and never had access to it. Venmo froze my account of until they could investigate and every time I called they just gave the story "will contact in 5 to 7 days". Eighteen days later, they closed my account because someone (a scammer) proved to be the owner of my email I had for 15 years! I asked them to reimbursed my money, but every time they said it had to be investigated by a different department! I'm going to sue them in small claims because they have been everything but sincere and honest. It seems the scammer is in their own company! How can they believe what a scammer says? They were played by him/her and Venmo needs to have better a better scammer policy not naive, inefficient investigators! I'll give Venmo a 0( ZERO)!
I just opened venmo so a friend could send me $25 for cab fare to the er, needless to say they froze my account so I had to take a $1200 ambulance ride. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I still can't access the $25 and Noone will tell me why! Needless to say, I will never use this horrible app again!
I have been trying for 3 weeks to get my money returned for 3 Venmo transfers that ended up to the wrong person. Venmo will not correct the error. Why?-because will only correct one miss payment in a 60 day period. Venmo is not available by phone. They won't contact the person paid in error. They won't provide me information so I can contact the person who took 3 of my payment. Does this seem fair? Heck NO!
I suggest you avoid Venmo unless you like being a victim. I am.
I paid someone using Venmo and they never got paid even though all the payment systems are working according to the bank. I paid them again and they put me in debt 1000 for the transaction which is so unscrupulous they should have refused the transaction. I realized that I don't have enough money in the bank account to cover the transaction so they made me owe them the whole amount I was to pay. I contacted the person I was paying and they never received the money at all. Extremely unscrupulous to steal 1000 from someone just because they owe someone else money. Now I am owing 2000 for this month and half is going to thieves.
In June over $1000 was stolen from my Venmo account due to my account being compromised. Venmo did absolutely nothing to stop it or help me. Makes me wonder if it might be one of their employees. Andrew Kortina the creator of Venmo cares more about padding his half billion dollar networth than investing a small fraction of that to upgrade their very flawed and, in my experience, ineffective security protocols which make any money held in the platform at an extreme high risk for theft. In addition, their so called customer service clearly has no interest, as a matter of policy, to assist their customers when a security problem exists. As a matter of fact, my own experience I was more or less blamed for transactions that I never approved nor I was aware of them taking place in the middle of the night.
Venmo arbitrarily put a one month hold on my money and won't assit in linking my bank account for deposit. Venmo has NO customer service. Over 20 attempts to get help or an explanation. Phone calls are a total waste of time. They tell you to read articles that are not helpful. Chat is a joke. BBB notified. Do not use Venmo if you need your money quickly.
Venmo supports the crook and does NOTHING for the honest person. Crooks are making a great living off your hard-earned money. We made a phone call to the service rep the minute it happened and filed the paperwork right then. We were told to call our bank and stop our payment. We did and now we are in a roundabout email chain that NO ONE will help. Drop and DO NOT use the wasteful company.
I'm a long-time Republic Wireless customer. As such, by definition, my phone number is a mobile number. But not according to Venmo. After I sold an item to someone who wanted to pay by Venmo, I tried to open a Venmo account. But they rejected my application, saying my number was a "landline" number. I tried, repeatedly, to see what evidence I could offer so I could open an account, but they just kept falling back on the landline bit. I can only conclude that they'll let you open an account with SOME carriers' mobile numbers, but not mine.
I worked hard, completed a job for my client, my client sent my $500 payment with Venmo.
I go to instant transfer it, and they denied the transaction. Now, due to their "security protocol" it will take up to 15 F-ING DAYS to get my money….MY MONEY! 15 F-ING DAYS. A business' funds are the lifeblood of the business.
And to make matters worse, you could not understand a thing the reps were saying which caused even more frustration!
I WILL NEVER use this service ever again and tell as many people that care to listen!
I encourage others to do the same!
Funds went to different person. I did actually what venmo suggusted and that person will not respond. I contacted venmo they Sent me around to 4 or 5 different people and been in contact with Mark F. They told me try better next time. So going off that they don't know how to fix it and if thats how this app operates then I don't
Want to do business where your not gauranteed the money will not go to the right person. This was my 1st and last time, just horrible experience. Don't choose VENMO use something else. Not worth it. 1 star is to high.
Venmo is a complete joke and worthless if you have a problem. Works good if there are no snafus, but I recently had my account locked and am told it would take 7-10 business days for support to resolve the issue. What is the point of an immediate money transfer site if it takes that long to resolve an issue that I have NO idea why my account is frozen.
Answer: My experience they are a scam. They take your money and lock you out of your account
Answer: Get them easy, they just don't do anything once you do.
Answer: I was told they don't have phones so you can only email them and it will take weeks for them to return your message
Venmo has a rating of 1.2 stars from 87 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Venmo most frequently mention customer service, bank account and business days. Venmo ranks 145th among Money Transfer sites.
