Sent money via VENMO to the wrong person. Immediately realized and did everything I was supposed to do but the jerk wouldn't send the money back. Couldn't cancel once it went through. They did nothing and the person got to keep my $250. Beside just being a dishonest jerk it was 9 days before Xmas. Merry freaking Christmas. What a way to make a living. Just open as many acct. As you can and wait for someone to make a mistake, they won't do anything about it. I will never use them again.

Thieves.
My, my husband's, and my son's accounts were all frozen. They were trying to set up accounts and immediately got frozen out. I was frozen out after trying to buy crypto. After two weeks, I finally got in, but they are rejecting all attempts to transfer money into Venmo from a bank account I've already used!
This morning, I find that they have frozen my account and won't release any of the money. They are stating that it will be 10-15 DAYS before they contact me.

Tip for consumers:
Please - Do not use Venmo for anything but selling at a farmer's market or crafts fair. Don't put your own money in there!

Was helping out a relative with a few dollars to get them til payday, no problem there, used venmo. I stay on top of my spam filtering with my email account, and rarely if ever use the account for much. As soon as the transaction was processed, I received multiple spam emails from just a few supposed legitimate companies. Coincidence, I think not.

If I could leave a negative star review I would. They have frozen my account for no reason. I provided them with all the information they asked for and they do not email me back with any updates or solutions. I called the customer service number to get help Andy they tell me it will take 7 to 10 business days to unfreeze my account. I would not recommend that you use venmo. There customer service will not help you with this issue and they only help through email. I have not received a email with updates or answers to my issue. This company does not know how to help their customers.

I wanted to get a cash advance from my Venmo visa. I had to call customer service and create a pin first. Went to an atm and was declined. Went to another bank, declined. Called customer service back and they said to try it now that it was blocked. Tried it again, blocked. 7 calls to customer service in India and nothing was done. I spent literally 3 hours between calls and driving to different banks due to an emergency.
The last person I spoke to, who was rude, told me that specific banks only accept Venmo credit cards. Found out it's any atm that accepts visa. I am paying the card off and I'm done with Venmo for good!

Hey kids, do you want to know what the internet was like in 2003? Try updating your payment methods on Venmo.com. It is SLOW! It is BUGGY!

Did you change tabs to get a verification code? Venmo.com freezes up.
Did you request a verification code and take your thumb off of the "Request code" too early, i.e. <5 seconds? Button does not register.
Did you take longer than 60 seconds to get your verification code? Failure.

I have no idea why it takes some credit cards and not others despite all details being correct. There are so very many "authentication errors" with this website.

Their site does not play well with bank websites. I have tried connecting Venmo with my Citizens account several times to no avail. Venmo is the only company that has trouble doing this.

I'm pretty sure the reason the website runs so very slow and has so many bugs is because it's trying to mine as much data from your computer as possible, slowing the whole thing down.

In short, extremely slow and clunky website, lots of random errors, impossible to rely on.

I have had one main account I've been successfully using on Venmo for years. But I desired a second account to receive money from an online friend. Before creating this second account, I specifically looked up Venmo's policy regarding multiple accounts, and discovered that Venmo indeed allows for a second account. Excellent. But upon creating it, I was then immediately sent this hostile email regarding "recent activity that appears to be a violation of our User Agreement", before sending or receiving a single payment. The email contained zero information on any policy and no information on how to contact anyone. So I called Venmo customer service.

First time I called spend 5 minutes entering all the information they asked, just to be hung up on.

The second time I finally reached a customer service representative. The most incredible part is, the woman ("Julie M") I spoke to at Venmo customer service on 1/28/24 didn't know their own policy. If this company's representatives don't know their own policies, how on Earth are we supposed to? Are we supposed to read their minds?

The cherry on top is that the customer service agent said she wasn't in contact with the team responsible for the suspension. Why does their customer service line even exist then? All I wanted to do was receive money as a normal user. I've replied to the email, but based on my current experience, I don't have high hopes.

I seem to be far from alone in experiencing Venmo's shocking anti-user policies. Venmo requested a woman to upload her driver's license for "verification", only to permanently ban her for life. It was only when a real-life news station intervened that she was able to be unbanned:

Further horror stories on Reddit cement the fact that Venmo appears to have now developed into an anti-user payment platform that threatens its users and should not be trusted with your funds.

I wouldn't recommend this service to anyone. They permanently suspended my account stating that my activities violated their user agreement, when the only activity I had on there was receiving money 3 times from friends, with 2 of those times being the same person, then transferring that money to my bank account, which according to the user agreement, I have every right to do so. When I contacted them to get more information about this situation, I wasn't really given an explanation.

I had a Venmo debit card and they would constantly charge me "overdraft fees" when there was literally no evidence of an overdraft. I contacted them countless times and received a different nonsensical excuse everytime. I eventually ended up deleting my account after I tried a hundred times to get my money back. This happened at least five times and they stole over two hundred dollars from me. Get a real bank account and stay away from this company.

Constant bombardment of "someone is trying to access your account" WTF? Don't they have ANY safeguards on the front end of their service? How are hackers getting to my actual account? Takes me 5 minutes to get to my account page with two factor authorization.
Transfers take 3-5 days, unless you transfer with a debit card... same account, why the difference.
Lame service, no actual support reps and feels completely unsafe.

Venmo just robbed me if $375 I desperately needed. They blamed "my bank." Lies. Now I have to open a fraud case and pray I get my money sometime.

On 9-7-23 my venmo account was frozen called customer service told to send ID and wait 7 to 10 business days, on 7 day account was still frozen, venmo customer service stated that weekends don't count for 7 to 10 day wait, Told them they should of told me, on 9/16/23, I get a email stating account is unfrozen go to use card at Walmart and it declined call venmo and they stated account frozen check email, I check email and they frozen account again and then closed my account and stated they will hold money in my account for 180 to prevent lose and if they have funds they will email me to transfer

Venmo supports the crook and does NOTHING for the honest person. Crooks are making a great living off your hard-earned money. We made a phone call to the service rep the minute it happened and filed the paperwork right then. We were told to call our bank and stop our payment. We did and now we are in a roundabout email chain that NO ONE will help. Drop and DO NOT use the wasteful company.

Mediocre taking care of customers! Worst service I have ever seen. Took over 45 days to be able to transfer $1887 to my bank account. Over 50 emails and 15 calls with customer service. I will not be surprised if Venmo run out of business in 2 years.

Venmo is supposed to be speedy transfer of funds? Not if there is a problem. November and December rent payments could not go through. Venmo had no idea why. Have used it previously numerous times. Now my account is cursed! I was contacted sometime in November after my first fiasco that everything was taken care of. Then when I went to send payment December 1 - same thing. What a crock!

Venmo froze my account on July 6th due to a security issue (not a payment issue), without any explanation. I immediately called and supplied a photo ID as identity proof. I have tried multiple times (via email, chat or phone) to reach someone of authority that could assist me. They don't offer direct contact to this department. I have waited over 23 days without any contact from Venmo. I cannot find a way to contact this department and am at their mercy at this time with no solution in site. This is a customer service nightmare and just want this to be resolved.

Venmo needs to offer additional customer service options!

My recent experience with Venmo and Synchrony Bank has left me utterly frustrated and disappointed. Both companies have shown a complete lack of transparency, misleading practices, and a disregard for customer satisfaction.

The primary issue arose when I attempted to deposit funds onto my Venmo credit card. Despite being assured that the process would take 1-3 business days, my money seemed to vanish into thin air. The balance on my Venmo credit card remained unchanged well beyond the promised timeframe, leaving me feeling cheated and taken advantage of.

What's worse is that Venmo failed to adequately disclose the potential risks associated with these deposit transactions. Nowhere in their terms or during the transaction did they bother to mention that deposits could be subjected to review, leading to potential freezing or removal of funds. This is a blatant breach of trust and a demonstration of their willingness to manipulate their customers' hard-earned money without proper warning.

In a world where financial transactions should be seamless and straightforward, the behavior of Venmo and Synchrony Bank is inexcusable. I strongly advise against using their services, as they have shown a blatant disregard for their customers' well-being and financial security. Seek out more reputable and transparent alternatives that actually value their customers and provide honest, accurate information. Don't fall victim to the misleading tactics employed by these companies; your hard-earned money deserves better treatment than this.

Pending payment with Venmo since 2.16 and they will not release my funds back to my card, even after the Merchant has given authorization to release the funds as the transaction has posted over 2 weeks ago now. Customer service and I use the term loosely is useless. Merchant has called Venmo on a 3 way call advising to release the funds, with me on the line and they still refuse to release the funds back on my card stating today that the funds are lost in transition whatever that means. BBB here I come.

Tip for consumers:
As this card was used, because of the incident in my review, and not wanting it to be against my actual bank account; I would most assuredly advise not to use Venmo even for small transactions.

Venmo supports criminals and allows them to conduct business through their app! The first time I used Venmo to pay for a product I bought from someone, they never came through with the product as promised. I contacted Venmo to report this person and they said they couldn't help me. They continue to allow the criminal to do business through their app! This is just crazy! They never froze his account or did anything! Poor business ethics!

Tip for consumers:
Venmo will not support you in any way if you have a bad transaction. They support criminal behavior.

Venmo is ok for sending /receiving/ cash and purchase of items. However if you use Venmo to book a hotel that holds a blance for incidentals, Venmo will continue to hold your money 14 days after the hotel has released your funds.
Another dissatisfaction...If you transfer money from your bank account as opposed to your debt card Venmo will hold your transfer 7 days before you can have access to your money. Both of these negative examples allows Venmo to obtain interest from your money. In my personal opinion CASH app or ZELLE or better options.
Venmo customer service is a joke to put it cordially.

My son recently died and I've had people want to send donations. EVERY single person has had difficulty finding me by phone number or email. If they sent a friend request that worked on some of them. I chatted with Venmo this morning and was given a laundry list of things to try, how can some people get through but now I have to share a QR code, change this setting, change that setting, oh, and they can try by your user name. I find this embarrassing, disgusting and unacceptable. It shouldn't be this much work, especially in my time of grief, and more so that they claim how "easy" it is. I have one more person trying to send a donation and if they can't get it to work I am shutting this ridiculous app down and will NEVER use it again.

I recently leased my condo in Walnut Creek CA and opened a Venmo account for regular/monthly deposit of rent. My tenant did deposit the rent on schedule but Venmo promptly froze my account and has been holding MY FUNDS hostage. I have spent much time on the phone and via email to have them release my funds but all I get from lots of platitude. It seems to me that holding onto other people's money as long as they can is profitable for them. I plan to avoid them in the future.

I don't plan on using Venmo in future.

Venmo made it impossible by giving error codes during bank account and routining number input which was copy and paste. The account being selected for the transfer was already approved.

Out of frustration I tried the instant transfer with a fee and like magic the very same account t which wouldn't work for the free transfer worked for the instant with fees.

When I masked for a refund, Venmo provided a list of documents and verifications before Venmo would consider the request.
