I was in my house when it blew up from a gas leak. I called Vacasa from the hospital 25 days before our arrival date. I was told I would be refunded my $8,462.68. I just found out today that Vacasa is not giving me any of my money back. I ask if I could at least have another vacation date. They would not do that either. I know Vacasa was able to rent the house in that amount of time. The house is in golf shores Alabama, one of the most popular spots in the US. This was my first time to use Vacasa I have always used home away or vrbo. I will never book though Vacasa again. I was warned agisnt using Vacasa and I had to loose $8,462.68 to find out Vacasa is just as bad as I heard.
I booked a house for a week through VRBO which as it turned out was actually just a pass through to Vacasa. My father died unexpectedly a couple of days before I was to leave for my trip. Obviously I had to cancel my trip. I understood that a full refund wasn't possible, but called to ask about the refund of the cleaning fee and hot-tub fee since I was not there to use either the home or hot-tub. When I cancelled the reservation, I offered to send proof of my father's death. I contacted Vacasa to inquire about the fee refund and they told me to contact VRBO. I contacted VRBO and they told me to contact Vacasa.
I am a VRBO and Airbnb owner and I have the decency to work with people when unexpected siguations arise. Of course corporations don't have that kind of decency.
Rented apartment on Mission Beach San Diego with three wall mounted AC units not working. Sauna. No ventilation. Let locked door open to screen door to breathe at night. Called 4 times. Known issue for weeks. Outiside fan motor ordered but delivery not until after our stay. Fifth call got one, portable AC unit after two sleepless nights. Received $500 refund. Unprofessional. Done with VACASA.
Vacasa has no Customer service god help you if you need something and call them no answer and when you do get them empty promisses
The sales team wooed me with all these promises of how much money my Disney area home could earn. They set me up with an interior designer that cost me $30K and were well aware of my timeline as far as when the home would be ready. Days before the house was finished, they sales person Kelly O'Brien went on a two week vacation and didn't bother to hand off my account to anyone else. After spending, days trying to get someone on the phone in order to keep the process rolling, they told me the onboarding process would then take ANOTHER 30 days to complete because of various permits, photos, and the such. None of this which was relayed to me prior. THAT MEANS another mortgage payment on my own. PLUS, all the new bills I have to handle, i.e. Water, electricity, wifi, landscaping.
About the landscaping, my home is at the top corner of the county in an area dubbed the four corners because four counties butt up to each other. This makes it a logistical nightmare for services because most only serve their county and tend to be based out of the center of it. This makes my home far out of the way and landscapers don't want to make the trek. I was told Vacasa would set me up with landscapers only to be told, OOPS, just kidding. We don't provide that. Oh and if you want your house on our site, you'd better get on that ASAP because we can't move forward with the onboarding process until that's completed. I live in NYC, the house is in Davenport, FL. Once these people actually get my house on their site, they had BETTER deliver on their promises. So far, they've been COMPLETELY incompetent. If you own a rental property, RUN AWAY from these scammers.
I never leave a review. But this warranted one. Lake Chelan Shores was very nice when I showed Up at their desk a day early to check out sobbing as I had just received a call my mother was in ICU. They told me vacasa would most likely refund me for the one night. It was very early and it could still be rented possibly. They even said vacasa could call them if needed. Vacasa would not call or annything. And my mother passed away the day I was suppose to check out. I understand business etc. but when the actual place said they would. Unbelievable. I am Very understanding. Never complain, send food back I mean Heck the place had stained carpets and broken blinds. I didn't complainI about that stuff even though I am paying $1630 for three nights. But seriously, my mom died. I would Suggest using another company
Be careful booking with Vacasa Rentals. I booked months in advance and discovered that I needed to cancel the reservation in Whittier, NC. My reservation was in November and I cancelled today, 8-7-23. Vacasa charged a $105 fee to cancel. I will never use Vacasa again.
Rented from Vacasa for two homes in Seaside FL in July. Up front was okay but when we got their door codes did not work Wi-Fi codes did not work. To get help you have yo talk to someone in Belize that does not speak good English. To top it all off I left my iPad mini at the house the morning we departed. Has the actual screen shot of its location. In order to even look for it Vacasa charges 28.00. Then it takes weeks for them to confirm they've been unable to find it. What a ripoff.
Do not I repeat do not go with vacasa. They're a terrible company and I don't know how they have survived this long. I arrived at my unit and it was dirty. Nothing was clean and customer service was terrible. I was ignored and if they did answer it was the run around.
I'm on vacation I expect for everything to be working properly. I paid my hard earned money into a bag with holes. I will never stay at 920 The summit in Panama City Florida never again. I'm a very disappointed customer.
After driving 12 hours, our Vacasa home was filthy and had limited bedding. It took six people cleaning for five hours before we could go to bed. My husband and I slept on a king covered with one twin sheet. My children had to cover up with beach towels. I contacted Vacasa and no one called us back that night. Actually, no one called us ever. They did drop off some bedding the next day. I ended up having to contact the homeowner, and she can't even get anyone to call her back!
I honestly don't even know where to begin…
Vacasa has been, by far, the worst vacation rental company that I have ever dealt with. Negligent. Rude. Non-communicative. Entitled. Lazy. Unreliable. Blames the renters for EVERYTHING!
Day of arrival: FILTHY home, especially the kitchen. Dirty dishes, food particles and grease everywhere. Filthy and broken appliances. Filthy rugs, floors, bedroom sheets. Ants everywhere, even inside the beds! An inch of dust built up on AC vents, filthy and broken mini blinds, broken and leaky dishwasher (water seeping through the floor and into the bedroom below the kitchen), broken vacuum, filthy and broken grill (which caught on fire bc of the grease build-up), no toilet paper, paper towels, dish and hand soap, towels, etc. had to stock up on basic supplies ourselves, illegal DRUGS found in the kids playroom right on the fooseball table!
Day 2:5 out of 7 children ages 6-12 received serious chemical burns on face, legs and genitals from pool. 2 of the children ended up in the ER because of it. We chose this home bc of the pool and proximity to the beach and the entire week, the children couldn't go back in the water with their chemical burns. The pool guy tried telling me it was sunburn and the bathing suits they were wearing! Excuse after excuse! No response or care from Vacasa, just,"I am sorry this happened".
Day 3: We tried to use the grill. The grease tray was so filthy and filled with grease, as was the deck underneath the grill, the entire grill set on fire just minutes after lighting it (the ignition doesn't work, so we had to go out and buy a fire clicker). It was terrifying!
By day 4, everyone wanted to go home. I spent the ENTIRE vacation trying to get ahold of Vacasa's management to get some answers, but I just kept receiving texts apologizing for what happened. NO COMPASSION, care or urgency at all!
DO. NOT. BOOK. THROUGH. VACASA!
1803 was absolutely beautiful! Pictures they listed were exact. The view was beautiful. The unit came with everything you would possibly need. Loved having the washer and dryer. It's nice going home with no dirty laundry. Vacasa was very prompt with text messages with our arrival wondering about the cleanliness. Very prompt with emails and check out instructions. They did say that they will be down one elevator coming up soon. I could see that as a problem. Sometimes you got on the elevator quick, sometimes you waited with the 2.
The pool and hot tub were very clean in the morning. It's too bad the ladies have to work so hard every morning because people don't follow rules about rinsing the sand off before getting in.
We rented a condo in Destin, FL for 4 nights. As of writing this, I'm still here. We arrived and were somewhat surprised how much this place is in disrepair. On further inspection everything was FILTHY. They sort of offered for someone to come clean, however they never responded with a time. We then spent 6 hours of our vacation cleaning this pit of despair. We turned the light on and there was a HALF EATEN YOGURT CONTAINER WITH A SPOON IN IT AND YOGURT ALL OVER THE WALLS. They also refused to refund us anything other than the cleaning fee. Please do yourself a favor and never book with these people.
This was the worst stay ever. Upon arriving it was so dirty to the point I had to go and get cleaning supplies to clean before my family would unpack any belongings or shower! Mattress was really broke in and linens were dirty. The parking was by parking pass only and we had to drive around looking for on street parking because they do not enforce the parking lot and anyone just parks there after we paid 2000 for a *******@mn vacation! When we called vacasa about our TV not working (and I have a 3 yr old who should be able to watch TV in the morning while I make breakfast instead I had to go.out for breakfast everyday after planning to.cook because I had a 3 yr old who was bored all morning before hitting the beach, we were told someone was coming and no one ever did. Don't book this property in OCMD by vacasa!
Rented pet friendly place thru Expedia read all the conditions and paid non refundable rent amount to Vacasa. Two days letter received rental agreement from Vacasa with totally different rules and regulations including "pets not allowed, fine is 1K". Was told have-to sign this or no check-in information. I'm a licensed real estate agent and this is SCAM. You don't take non refundable money first and THEN ask a tenant to sign rental agreement they don't agree with. Their property management license should be suspended or reworked all together. What they are doing is illegal. I plan on filing official complaint with the state Real Estate Commission
We arrived at the condo we booked in Orange Beach Alabama on July 31,2023. The instructions to unlock/lock the door were for a different type of lock. After calling and waiting almost an hour I placed another call. The owner had to call me back. She informed me that Vacasa has sent the wrong information in the past. She was very accommodating after dealing with the issue for over 3 hours! I received an email from Vacasa 2 days prior to our arrival as there was a $15 parking fee. The day after that, another email advising parking was $35. Upon arrival it was $50. The condo owner informed me that Vacasa and VRBO have not updated the web page. I went through the VRBO site and it booked through Vacasa. Never again!
When we got there house looked nice but we starting discovering issues. House has two refrigerators but none of them cool. Both refrigerators didn't work. We reported the issue and said that they were going to get in touch with someone to solve the issue. While all the food we purchase was getting spoiled. Later we found traps with scorpions and small snakes at the laundry. We believed I guess is ok because is the outdoor area specially the place being in the country side. So we went to HEB and purchased some roach killer and sprayed outside the whole area of the house so scorpions can't get close. Later while inspecting all bedcovers and surrounding inside the house, we found traps with scorpions in them. It probably would be nice if before someone rents to change the traps and spray the home we thought. We stayed in the dining area and scorpions started to come out at night. Kids were panicking by seeing the scorpions coming out at night just like roaches. So we al decided not to stay there and since hotels were too pricy for the last minute. We end up by not staying there and drove back for 4hrs in the night. All the groceries that we bought for 3 days was all disposed in the trash… it really was the worst experience in our lives and probably marked us and the children for ever. I spoke with someone I believe was the owner and said that he would refund me and compensate for my troubles. At the moment still waiting… hope that no one goes through the worst and dangerous experience.
In February, I booked a ski vacation for my family through Vacasa. We booked plane tickets, rented a car, took time off work, and then 2 weeks before the vacation we got a message that the owner wanted to use the house and they cancelled it. They offered us a "comparable" unit, which was definitely not comparable. After many back and forth emails, they offered us 110% future credit on a next stay, which did not make up for the expense we incurred from this cancellation.
So, with some reluctance, I booked another property through Vacasa for August to use the future credit. They fooled me again -- two weeks from the vacation, we were once again informed that the rental was canceled. Note that, the policies for renters state that cancellations within this short window would result in loss of some or all of the value of the reservation. But all Vacasa offered me was another 110% future credit or a refund for the property. I am definitely not taking the future credit again, and once more I find myself having to look for and probably shell out more for one of the few remaining places available that can fit our extended family.
Do not book with Vacasa.
Good – The house was nicely outfitted with good appliances, plenty of dishes, and good cookware / bakeware. The house is a little older, so some of the furniture and decor is a bit dated. However, there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of it. Additional perks are 3 bicycles, 2 kayaks, and PLENTY of beach chairs, toys, games, etc. Much better in terms of extras than I've seen in houses 3x this cost.
Bad – Vacasa customer service and the preparation of the house when we arrived. We were not allowed to check in early so that Vacasa could "ensure our housekeeping team has plenty of time between stays to thoroughly clean and prepare this home for you". This would not have been an issue if the house actually had been thoroughly cleaned and prepared. Instead, we walked in to find: Multiple beds with sand in them, clothing and trash under multiple beds, a carton of raw eggs on one of the end tables, and a dishwasher full of dirty dishes from the previous guests. After a day and a half of trying to get answers from Vacasa, which involved me having to chase them for answers and provide pictures to prove that these things were wrong, Vacasa refunded the $161 cleaning fee that we were supposed to pay at our checkout. It was nice that they did something, but this is hardly fair compensation for interrupting my vacation to clean up after their previous guests – including washing sheets on multiple beds so my children had some place to sleep.
Ugly – After checking out and driving home, my son realized that he left his wallet in the rental home. Completely not any fault of Vacasa or the homeowners. However, Vacasa refused to look for it or tell us if it was found unless I paid a "$25 non-refundable fee (whether the item is found or not) plus shipping costs". I was truly dumbfounded that a company would be willing to not tell you if they found a wallet with driver's license and credit card unless I paid them to tell me. This was my breaking point with the complete lack of customer focus shown by Vacasa.
It pains me to leave this bad review and hurt the owners of this nice beach house. However, like my family, they are going to be victims of Vacasa's poor non-customer centric attitude. In the future, my family will go with local rental companies or services that allow renters to deal directly with the home owners.
Answer: It's a monster scam. Avoid at all costs. I've rented several properties that ended up going through Vacasa - despite my best efforts to avoid them. You can't find out that it's Vacasa until after they have your money. It's a criminal enterprise.
Answer: In my experience, construction is their "catch all" excuse for canceling. Follow up to verify that it was rented, but for higher fee.
Answer: I am not sure but for the renter (not the owners) the fees may be charged without full disclosure.
Answer: Bad bad bad worst service I ever got at a short term rental
