Passez votre chemin!

I originally booked this trip with a young man named Errin. I was very happy with how he let me know everything up front and it was a very easy process to reserve the car for my trip. Unfortunately there was some kind of vandalism to his vehicle from a client, and he had to cancel my trip and I got a full refund. While I highly recommend Errin, I was not so fortunate with the person who I ended up booking with, Shyarah L. I should have backed out immediately and chose someone else as I felt like a criminal the whole time during the booking process. I already authenticated myself with the turo app but she requested my ID again which I was not comfortable with. Also there was a process with the code to get into the car which I had to ask her for she did not provide that. And while my trip started at 8 a.m. she did not provide me with the exact location of the car at a Target parking lot until the next morning and for some reason she claimed there was some sort of website glitch so I ended up taking my own car on the trip because it was after 8:00 a.m. and the company still charged me the fee for same day cancellation. I provided the notes on the website and the times where we exchanged dialogue and it was after 8:00 a.m. before her information was uploaded so I should have gotten a full refund. When you do everything last minute there are always problems, and I got the penalty. Also I spoke with a representative from turo that same weekend and they assured me that I would get a full refund so they lied. She should have provided all the details I needed to get into the vehicle 24 hours in advance! Beware of Shyarah.

Horrible customer service
December 13, 2023

I rented a car through them and it was a good experience until the end. The car came with 100 miles free, $9.99 per mile after. I was enjoying the car and decided to go over the 100 miles, even though I knew it would be expensive. When I returned the car to the owner (host) he went on the Turo app and put the extra miles in. I was able to view the invoice right away but it said $10.49 per mile. I asked him about it and he said he only charges $9.99 per mile. I disputed the invoice and filled out all of the required fields to do so. The next day I called Turo and the rep said the charge is $10.49 per mile, I said no, the agreement shows the lower rate and I have screenshots to prove it. She said send them via email which I did. Later that day I saw that they tried to charge my card for the original invoice! I was furious! I spent two days going back and forth with them, they never addressed the proof I had nor did they call the host to verify. I had to call the host and ask him to call them which he did, only then did they agree that the lower rate was correct.
This was supposed to be a bucket list, once in a lifetime experience for me (I rented a Lamborghini) but this whole experience has tainted it.
I hope this helps anyone who is considering renting this way to research thoroughly any and all companies who provide this service.

Scam
December 12, 2023

Customer service for any issues goes around and around, no one can help. You're transferred on calls or they say they'll make a report of it and then you will hear from them within 48-72 hours. The reply via email in that case will not have anything to do with your actual problem and then you'll have to keep moving in circles because they really don't care about your experience.

Cars are not noted to have scratches or dents and the host can try and charge you for ones, make sure you take really thorough pictures before you rent the car.

CONSIDERING TURO - JUST DON'T!
December 1, 2023

This should be a zero rating! I tried to cancel a rental because the description was deceptive and misleading. Turo makes it nearly impossible to call them and when you finally get through you are routed to a customer service agent in some place like India. I was on the phone for an hour trying to cancel and was told I'd get an email reply which never happened. This app and program is ripe for scammers and there are absolutely no recourse like legit car rental companies! Also you are hit with all types of fees and taxes which you can't see until you try to rent the vehicle. SAVE YOURSELF a lot of time, grief and hassle and avoid like the plague.

Hosting is TOO RISKY!
November 29, 2023

I had a terrible experience as a Turo Host! We are in the SLC, Utah metro and started with a minivan. It was profitable, so we got another one, then tried a luxury SUV to appeal to the skiing visitors. The first 3 trips went perfect with raving reviews, but the third lost control in a rainstorm and got in an accident. Turo refused to process the damage claim, because my safety inspection was 3 months old. The claims adjuster also advised me that they could deny the claim, because I didn't have a photo of the guests Driver's License and photo of the guest holding the Driver's License. My personal insurance would not cover the damage, because the accident occurred during a Turo Trip. The damages we over $18,000 and we were stuck to cover the bill out of pocket!
As we started this Turo Host experience, our current bank and insurance company would not consider being associated with Turo, this was my first ignored warning. The fine print in Turo's agreements gives them several loopholes and I haven't figured out how to hold Turo or their Guest accountable. The agreements include a no-lawsuits clause, so I cannot sue Turo. I have requested arbitration four times with no response.
The risk of have any vehicles on the road, driven by strangers, with practically no insurance is way too high to be considered. I discourage anyone from becoming a Host. If you are already a host, I encourage you to cash-out your assets before they get totaled without coverage.

TURO
Upon arriving at the Portland, Maine airport, the Turo team served us an enormous "SH*T SANDWICH" that ended up costing us $1,600US. They had canceled our two week reservation while we were in the air - a reservation that we had made 2 1/2 months earlier because of the well-known shortage of rental cars and accommodations in Portland during the fall foliage season. Turo's irresponsible action left us high and dry - with absolutely zero rental cars available in the Portland area. Without a car, we could not get to our reserved accommodations a hundred miles away in Belfast, and the only room available in Portland was at the Hilton at the rate of $295/night. The two week vacation that we had planned and reserved 2 1/2 months ago had just turned to "SH*T"!
The stated excuse for the cancellation was that there was a problem with a tire. But in our fruitless search for a rental car we were told by an airport official and several car rental agents that Turo was engaged in an illegal scheme of staging rental cars a the airport parking lots with an attached combination lock box containing the keys. We were told that, when the lock boxes were discovered, the airport authorities would have the car towed off the lot. Several people at the airport suggested that the car we reserved had been towed, and that the tire excuse was BS. I should note that the Turo team stepped in to"address/solved our problem" by offering us a three day rental somewhere in Maine that would begin in 12 days - the day before our scheduled flight back to Denver.
The next day, our landlady in Belfast rescued us by arranging local transportation to Belfast ($200) and locating a Enterprise rental car in Belfast (at $1,900: $1,100 more that the prepaid Turo reservation). So, by spending an extra $1,600 and wasting one day of our vacation, we were able to recover from Turo's thoughtless and irresponsible actions.

Turo False Advertising
October 15, 2023

I found Turo cars on Kayak.com which stated the cars were available at the airport. They are OFF airport and have a hefty fee to transport the car to the airport for pickup. This is completely deceptive.

I have rented from TURO twice and all I can say is be extremely cautious of the "host" you rent from. There are those who strategically plan to opportunistically take advantage of unsuspecting innocent "guest" by blaming them for pre-existing subtle damages that were unnoticed or "noted" upon initially renting the car.
This TURO business is potentially a "scammers" CANDY STORE! Please be precautious when renting.

I went to BC for fews days and rent a car. I bought some weed and never smoked in the car. Then the owner charges me 250 USD for cleaning fee as he said I smoked in the car. The only proof he got is something like 5 grain of sand that was on the seat. He says its ashes and its obvious I smoked in the car. Then Turo kindly ask me if I have PROOF, that I DIDNT smoke in the car, once I am back in Montreal. I got scammed 250USD and they keep emailing me to say they have the best interest in helping me and ask me for these proof. Basically, anyone could say you smoked in the car and charge you 250USD. I am telling everyone not to use Turo since, worst service I got. Who rents a car for 3 days and smoke weed inside, come on...

Potentially Your Last Drive
September 11, 2023

On my trip, three of the four tires failed. Looked closely at the third, and it was a passenger car tire rated for a max load of 1929 pounds... on a Ford Transit 350 XLT, which weighs 10,000 pounds unloaded and comes from the factory with light truck tires. I payed for the first two tires to be replaced being assured by the owner that I would be reimbursed, and I used the spare on the third. It took Turo over two months to get back to me after telling me they were going to seriously look into the situation for potential action against the owner. Their communication at that point was to tell me that I was not liable to pay for any damages to the vehicle and that they were closing the case. I responded that they owed me over $400 for the repairs I did to the vehicle, and it took them another two weeks to issue that refund. With at least that resolved, I went in to review my trip, and was locked out. Either the organization is very incompetent, or they purposefully drag out cases that could potentially result in bad reviews for their owners beyond the period of time they have arbitrarily set as the review period. The owner of the vehicle in question still has a five-star rating. Unlike other rental companies, I a convinced Turo cannot effectively regulate the upkeep of fleets of cars owned by private individuals. As such, finding your drive with Turo may mean finding your last drive ever.

Terrible Customer Service - had a broken unusable car.
The host removed my bad review and I was autocharged on my credit card without consent. Customer service responses are AI generated and on the phone you get put on hold for hours.

Horrible experience
August 31, 2023

We rented a Rolls Royce from Jesus. Upon return, Jesus checked car out, everything was fine. Next thing you know we get a damage report submitted with pics that were so blatantly not how we gave car back. Clearly, Jesus wanted a new paint job. We submitted a reply on the Turo app
And waited a couple weeks for A response. There was no reply so we called and they said they sent an email saying to reply with additional info. We asked what email and gave the one that is on the app and they stated wasn't it. We've tried to call 6 separate times to get resolution with no one knowing what to do and promising call Backs that never happen. Not sure what other info would be needed when we stated facts and provided proof with pictures and texts. Jesus got $2k for rental and we lost our $500 Deposit for nothing- we used Turo many times but never once thought there would be someone so outright shady to try to come up off us. We will never use this app again

My experience with Turo was nothing short of a nightmare. After spending hours until 2 am discussing my issue with their customer agent, they failed to resolve the problem that stemmed from their own errors. When the issue was finally addressed in the morning, the price had skyrocketed due to changes made by Turo, not the host. Despite providing screenshots of my conversation with the customer agent, Turo arrogantly brushed off my request for them to cover the price difference caused by their mistakes. Their smirking indifference and lack of accountability were beyond frustrating. This entire ordeal has left me utterly disappointed, and I have already uninstalled the app. My trust in Turo is shattered, and I will never consider using their service again. One star is generous given the awful and negative experience I endured.

HIRER BEWARE
August 8, 2023

HIRER BEWARE they will try to take you for as much as they can.
I hired a car in the US for 1 week. The host was really great and the car was wonderful.
Near the end of the trip I reversed into a stone wall at a very slow speed which caused some very small scratches. I went through the proper steps and was fully co-operative throughout.
Within 1 day of my report Turo took $500 from my account as a repair deposit, and then a couple of days later told me that the cost of the repairs would be $1,300 which I thought was over the top but I didn't contest it. When they notified me of the full amount they offered the choice of payment through a payment plan, and I immediately responded to say I was interested in this option, but was then told the time had lapsed and that the final payment was already processed and had left my account. I was very annoyed that the payment had been processed without notice as my trip in the US was costly and at the time I would have much preferred paying the costs over time. I contacted Turo but after several emails back and forth I had no choice but to accept the situation.
Almost a month passed and I receive another notification of ANOTHER CHARGE of over $1,000 (began with an additional charge of $1600+ but somehow mysteriously dropped to almost $1100 after I sent them a strongly worded email) for "hidden damage" for "damages that were identified when doing a tear-down of the vehicle to guarantee the safety of it".
The damage was minimal, a couple of superficial scrapes, and repairs did not require a tear down and I am absolutely certain (because of the speed I was travelling, the lack of dents etc ;) that there were no "hidden damages".
This company is brazenly out to take as much of your hard earned money as they can, and I would strongly suggest hiring ANYWHERE else.

Owed 14.00 for Bridge tolls as you cannot pay at the bridge. Visa card used to rent car was compromised andby unautohrized purchase from another company. Card was locked. Called Turo and told them I had card locked and would get another card soon. They told me no problem we will extend the time for payment. The took the money from my APPLE PAY without authorization and I have no clue how they even knew I had Apple PAY...BUYER BEWARE they can access your cards in your phone.

Unreliable
July 11, 2023

I have rented auto from your company since around 2015. I am terribly upset regarding your customer service Host. The Host cancelled 3 hours before my trip started.

I was notified while I was at the airport. This is totally unacceptable. This is a common issue with your company. For emergency situations there is no immediate relief. WILL NEVER USE YOUR AGAIN.

I will inform my colleagues about this disaster and disappointing event. Your company is not reliable. Refund my money ASAP

I rented a car on Turo and unfortunately had an accident. The car was slightly scratched. The damaged can hardly be seen from a distance. I spoke to the driver and he gave me a quote to repair the car. After I did my own research I realised I could do it for cheaper. I informed the owner and after discussing he changed his mind and said he now wanted to process the issue through Turo. Most likely because he wanted to squeeze all he could out of the situation. Thereafter, turo sent me an invoice to pay £1,185! For a scratch you can hardly see. The car is valued at its best £1500 it's a Fiat Punto 2013. I accept responsibility for the damage I made, but the amount is completely disproportionate. Terrible Terrible experience.
