I found 7 hard inquiries on my Transunion credit report that I never authorized; my score was seriously impacted by these. I assume these are attempts at identity fraud. Trying to dispute them and have them removed, seems to be an exercise in futility. Very little help to be found there, if you can even get someone to even respond in the first place.

There is no free report! It's all a scam. And who can you complain to about Trans Union? No one! Because they don't answer to anyone. They can do anything they want with your life when you give them access! Think twice before entering information and giving out your visa number for a $1 free report. I am out $80 by now and that money is not coming back.

A background check was conducted that showed over twenty incorrect criminal charges including a felony. This cost me the ability to be a guarantor on my daughter's lease. Luckily the landlord still rented her the apartment with my husband as a guarantor and my supporting documentation confirming that I have zero criminal history. Transunion made virtually not effort to correct my report in a timely manner. My address, physical description, and birth name do not match the person with the criminal history. Their customer service does nothing other than to say that they have thirty days. One even told me they couldn't correct the report because no one answered the phone at the courthouse. Beware when using this company as their mistakes can ruin your credit, your ability to work somewhere, and your ability to rent. Another company, MBI Worldwide was excellent. They corrected the report very quickly and my employment was not affected.

I tried to solve my husband's name issue. None of the customer service reps are native english speakers, and though they were all very helpful, many of them spoke with a strong accent. I had problems understanding them and they had problems understanding me. For the identity verification, one of the web pages gave me several banking institutions to choose from where he has a credit card, but the option of 'none of the above' was not offered and the process would not let me continue. At another time the web page had me change my husband's email address and it would not go on without me doing that. Terrible experience. The service was offered for free by MacKenzie because of the security breech, but I will gladly pay for the service of a different credit checking company if it's easier to get it.

Speachlessly lame

After each payment made on time, got a job even before graduated and a work permit, only to find that the score went down and they can't even spell my name!

Their website is abysmal. I went through rounds of trying to login and update a password and it failed over and over. Plus they bury what you might be looking for behind page after page of them trying to sign you up for their subscriptions. Of the big 3 they're by far the worst. Not even close. Equifax seems the least slimy and is at least easier to navigate. Experian is okay, and Transunion is deceptive on top of being poorly designed and executed.

Why are they still in business?
May 16, 2023

Their systems to verify identity don't work, they wouldn't let me use my regular email address, I had to use an old email address that I use for junk, they claim my cell phone number isn't for a cell phone. Their computer systems don't work. Their customer service reps don't care. Wait times to speak with someone are atrocious, so far in total, I've been on hold for over 6 1/2 hours over 3 attempts to actually use their service and I still can't get into my account. I have no confidence that any service they offer is accurate or complete. It's a wonder that they remain in business. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Stay away, avoid like the plague, and utilize any other service out there instead.

I am writing this review while sitting on hold. I have been waiting on hold for 55 minutes not. I wish I could post a screenshot. This is ridiculous. All I want to do is cancel my services. Will someone please either answer the phone or call me back. Maurice

HORRIBLE!
November 29, 2021

If you want to cancel, there is NO-ONE to talk too, no option to get help, repeated recordings with limited selections, then they hang up on you. If I EVER get out of this, I'll never go business with them! Just taking my money with no cancel options. If I could only do less than 1 star... Read others reviews... NO customer service!

TransUnion's process for filing disputes and receiving assistance is borderline illegal it's so flawed and inefficient. The first time I called to file a dispute I was told to obtain a letter from the business that had the hard inquiry. The second time I called in, (after having acquired the letter), the terrible customer service agent who's likely trained in intentional customer dissatisfaction rudely explained to me that they can't receive online correspondence, and that I will have to type up an additional authorization letter, and mail in the two letters to a PO Box, and that hopefully then the dispute will be resolved. Absolutely ridiculous and infuriating.

Credit disput
June 28, 2022

I called and made a dispute about an account opened in my name. The guy said he made the dispute and I would receive the letter in 5-7 business days. Didn't get that. Called in about 3 weeks later and the women said the account I'm talking about was removed. I asked her to send me my credit report. I got it 2 weeks later to see the same account is still there. I am so tired of wasting my time calling into businesses to get things done and it always turns up the other person before didn't do their job right. I am trying to buy a house and can't because of this $#*!ing dispute and you just wasted 2 months of my time $#*!ing around with your unintelligent assistants. Thanks

TransUnion
March 2, 2022

TransUnion is one of most important credit outlets in the Northern hemisphere that serves the greater parts of the United States of America. But they hire people from overseas to handle their phone services and credit reporting attributes. These people are not being monitored and your credit information is being carelessly mishandled by people with little to no skills in managing important information that's in the Philippines and neighboring countries to save labor cost. The United States has become so engulfed in saving money that they will hire 3 party vendor from overseas that will compromise the privacy and security of the most sacred data known to man. Do not trust these people because they are no longer fit to be trusted.

Beyond Scam
June 12, 2021

Have an excellent credit score. Had a loan with Toyota Financial. Never late and never missed a payment. Payed off loan early to avoid paying additional interest. Check credit score down -10 points. Dispute with TransUnion and informed to them it is viewed as a closed account. This was not a credit consolidation it was a settled account and ended by Toyota because account was satisfied in full. Protested it and was told they still view it as a closed account and won't do anything about lowering my score.
Let me be clear Payed On Time Never Missed A Payment And Payed Loan Off Early.
The same company that stresses the importance of good credit and wants to charge a fee to monitor it can legally lower your score even though you have done everything in accordance with your loan agreement.
Think About That.

Horrific service. Account suspended, 3 hours on hold, to get zero help from the call centre. An activation code which suspended the account again, and a message to call customer service. Thanks for wasting my entire day.

I have an 829 credit score with Equifax and Experian ( the other Big 3 who control your rating) and yet I have an 802 with Transunion. I have no derogatory remarks on any of the history for 14 years since I first became credit rated and I have a 100% score with on time payments.

Furthermore, whenever a loan was paid off previously, Transunion is the only one of the 3 to actually drop my credit score despite it still being listed on my account for several years after. Equifax and Experian would not lower the score until the account was removed from the credit history entirely.

Basically, they are the absolute worst in this department and do everything in their power to keep your score as low as they legally can. I pray for the day this bureau goes bust

Transunion not only is horrible by the sheer reality of its existence, it also can't screen applicants for background checks correctly. They ask you "what street did you live on?"
You answer. Correctly.
They tell you you're wrong, so they ask you another question or set of questions. "Oh I know this! Easy peasy" except that it's not easy-peasy. It's difficult... smifficult because TransUnion hates us and wants us to die of stress trying to complete a rental application. They love your rage, they feed off of it because they're run by just 1 guy living on Staten Island named Colin Robinson.

Anything below zero!

Unfortunately most bustiness are trusting Transunion since the oldest credit monitoring organization.
In simple words! Cash cow, unfit to be in credit providing business. Very old system claimed to be latest technology. Providing incorrect history without updated information. Many are stuck with this monopoly organization. As a consumer have to write emails and submit online forms which is never looked and fixed.

Have been trying for 72 hours to unlock a credit freeze for a loan. Can't reach anyone by phone and the online form says they will send an email to reset my password, but nothing is coming, have filled out the form 3 times, it says could take 24 hours, and still nothing after filling out for 3 days. They need to fix their web-site.

I wanted to order a credit report, not a recurring subscription.
I used their service 3 years ago, and only today I'm realising they stole hundreds of dollars from me, because they continued to charge me $20 each month for a service I wasn't using, and didn't realise was recurring.
Usually when I order documentation online, it doesn't come with a recurring fee.

I guess the lesson here is... No matter how reputable the company, don't give them your credit info unless you're receiving a physical product.
