My review of TOPCV

My overall experience was poor. I was very impressed by John's initial assessment of my CV. I immediately felt like I needed his service. I looked at the prices and could not afford the cost. I asked for a discount which you guys gave me but little did I know that the discount also took away the cover letter option. I was given a different package, not a discount.

I also find out that the person who assessed my CV is not the person who's writing to improve it, which created a discrepancy in what I expected and what I eventually got. Also, there's no mention of how long you take until after the purchase. I assumed it would be fast, as John assessed my portfolio within a day. Instead, you offer upsells right after the purchase. I got the CV too late as I had to apply within five days.

My experience was really bad. This service is not worthy. I would not reccomend this service. FYI, my writer was Harris S.
I describe shortly what happened:
- I received a first draft full of mistakes (typos, grammar, disalignment in the order company, role, lack of info like the degree).
- I asked for review and to include also the info I have put in the questionnaire that were not included.
- I received a feedback after one week, in the meanwhile I reviewd the CV and sent to the writer.
- when I recived the new version was not an update of the last version
- in the meanwhile I was waiting for the likendin profile, delivery of the first draft on Feb 26 and received on march 6
- the document received was a cut and paste of the wrong cv...

If possible, try another service. If I think what I paid for this service... NEVER AGAIN

DO NOT USE! I have received CV and cover letter written by George S. The only thing that I can say is that George doesnt speak English and must have been using Google Translator to write in English. George if that is even his name must be sitting somewhere offshore in Bangalore. Perhaps the language used might get him a job with a call centre there but certainly not in the UK. Im embarrassed to have used this service. I will now try to get the situation resolved but I am not holding my breath.

I was foolish enough to purchase the most expensive package and was I received is nothing if not a complete joke. The new "CV" is full of wrong facts, copied from company websites, sentences that make no sense, my actual career is unrecognisable, and the language can only be describes as leading to immediate career suicide if ever sent out. I specifically asked for a European writer, what I received can best be called an over the top sales pitch for someone who has no resemblance to me or my career whatsoever. Customer service slow and non reactive, a promised revision never came through despite my order including 2 revisions within a 7 day period. HANDS OFF!

Such a bad service and I deeply regret trying to use them. I was really frustrated by my CV as I seemed to attract the wrong sorts of positions and wanted a fresh take. The CV they produced for me was hideously ugly and completely inappropriate. Large parts of it made no sense and did not seem to be written by a native English speaker. The cover letter was hilarious - I used to hire people in my previous position and if I received something like that I would have instantly deleted it. Do not use, do not waste your money. I'm sure there are decent CV writers out there. These people are not them.

I am pleased with the results I got from the TopCV writer assigned to me, however the journey from start to finish was much more painful than it should have been.
The writer refused to speak to me by phone, which I had wanted (a) to understand some of the words and phrases she was using which were not common in UK business language and (b) to explain my situation so that she could help me to bring out the best from my skills, knowledge and expertise.
I asked a lot of questions during the various revisions we had. Not a single one of the questions was answered, instead she sent through another revision draft that I had to painstakingly go through to see how she had interpreted my question and whether I was happy or not. Sometimes I was and sometimes not.
Considering that ones CV is meant to explain the best of you as well as your story so far, I felt that the lack of conversation during this process was a major failure in your business model.

Do not use this service. I was in agreement that my CV needed some work and some of the issues raised in the critique seemed to make sense.

I paid for the most expensive package but was not overly happy with what I received. I did not like the style nor the presentation used but I trusted to the "experts". The wording did not flow, it seemed like a second-language speaker had taken a thesaurus to put in some big words.

Bizarrely, certain industry-specific key concepts were totally wrong - Customer Due Diligence (CDD) became Complex Capital Delivery (CCD). Not even close!

What I further cannot accept is that when I ran the "new" CV through their own ATS it scored exactly the same and "required a rewrite".

I have also ran it through various other ATS systems and it has not passed any. Accordingly, it was not "formatted for success - Formatting that will get an employer's attention" nor was it "Keyword optimised - Your CV will be optimised to pass through Applicant Tracking Systems".

I demanded a refund but i was told it would cost me $50 - so clearly they are not based in UK. Do not use this service!

Big promises, two deadlines missed and standard message response s when you try to get in touch for an explanation of what's going on. Mattered made worst by fact that whilst waiting I've missed opportunities to apply for key roles.
