I was very disappointed today after my visit to Talbots at Desert Hills Premium Outlet. I went to return an item I had purchased online. Even though I had the receipt they did not know how to make a refund and said they could not return my money. Not only were the 2 ladies in the store extremely rude to me. They both obviously had no clue about customer service.
I then started to look around the store a bit. I asked them if they had any tunics. Neither one knew what a tunic was and they said they do not sell tunics...
Then I saw some tshirts that were kind of long and they were advertised for a good price. There was a huge sign saying $ 12.99. When they rang it up they wanted to charge me double of the adverstised price per shirt. I was going to buy 3. They did not honor the price of the sign saying that they have to charge whatever the computer says and that they are not able to make any changes to the price. They did not even say they were sorry for the mistake.
Needless to say I left the store without making a purchase. I will not be returning to the Talbots at Desert Hills Premium Outlet.
Talbots lost a great customer due to rude staff.
I ordered 2 sweaters as Christmas gifts months ago. I never received them. I ordered a blue XL & a lavender 3X. Very unhappy. I either want what I paid for or a full refund.
Unable to return a pair of jeans that i purchased and washed before wearing due to store policy. Buyer beware!
For a up market retail store I find your cashmere of a poor quality. Probably bought in China or Mongolia...
Title says it all! You pay top dollar but the clothes are cut skimpy, fabric is subpar. Just NOT the same Talbots. I'm done
I called 2 phone numbers when half of my order was missing, they hang up on you because they are too busy. I paid for premium shipping too.
I have been an avid shoppers at Talbots here in New England for the past 20 years. The ladies in the store know me on a first name basis. I have spent THOUSANDS on merchandise from this store over the years. I have sung this stores praises to my family and friends for as long as I can remember.
Recently, I had to return a handful of items (they were sales items, not full price) to the store that did not work for me. I had unknowingly made the grave error of returning the clothing without the tags attached. I did have the original receipts with the items highlighted. The attitude I got from the first employee who assisted me was one of contempt (eye rolling, annoyed sighing, etc). She said she couldn't do anything without the tags and had to get the manager. I thought to myself, "oh that would be okay, I know *her" (*name omitted - not trying to get people fired). When the manager finally came out, there was a line of people behind me, and the store was very busy. To my shock (and sadness) she told me in front of this whole store that I would be getting "the speech." She said that once the tags are removed, the items are no longer returnable. I had no idea. She then said she would make an "exception" this one time, but that this exception be recorded on my "profile." (?) I told her I felt like I was in the principals office. She said "Well, you sort of are." Was it really necessary to humiliate me like this? I also felt foolish for being so loyal to this store. I had placed *22* online orders in 2022.
While they were processing the 5 or 6 items I returned without tags, I took the clothes that I had intended to buy that day, and put them back on the rack.
After they completed the transaction, I was so embarrassed, I went out to my car and cried. I felt like I had lost an old friend.
I feel that Talbots no longer cares about its customers. I don't understand the point of berating a loyal customer over 5 or 6 items without tags. Is this truly a scenario worth losing a good customer? For this store, it is, I guess. I have paid off my Talbots credit card, and will not return.
Talbot sent the wrong order, still waiting for card to be credited. DO not order online, they screwed my order up.
I bought 6 t shirts last year and two this year. There are tiny holes after the second wash. The lady asked it I wore jeans. I HAVE ALWAYS WORN JEANS WITH T SHIRTS! Your products are now worthless.
The quality of the clothes is the best. I've kept clothes I've purchased here for years and they are still in really good condition.
Beware! Disabilities and Handicap folks are not considered at this Retailer. In fact, rudeness prevails.
Talbots has beautiful clothes. You can find some great deals on their website. There is also a greater selection online.
I'm not shopping Talbots as much as I used to because some of the clothes are no longer classic. It's sad because that's why I used to shop them. But when you start getting peasant skirts, strange prints, and a lot of unnecessary fufu on items which I would normally buy, I head straight to Dillard's or Macy's.
Another thing they do like some stores, they'll have a buy one, get one half off. What I taught by children, that's just another way of saying it's only 25% off. And when you think about it, the clothing is so overpriced. 25% off is nothing. But they switch it around, making you think you're getting a better deal. A dear friend's husband who is an advertising saying, this is a gimmick stores use quite a bit.
I just wish tablets would go back to clean lines, classic styles let's stay in style for years to come. Like I was told, they do this so you have to come back every year to buy, " what's in style."
I find more what I need at Dillard's, and Macy's, even Ann Taylor's often 40-50% sales, by just googling their sites, for example classic pencil skirts, or dress white silk blouses, etc, find exactly what I need, then it's in style for years to come.
Just yesterday, on one of their competitors sites, I googled classic red pumps. Found exactly what I needed for $38 ( sale and coupon) that was regularly $148.00...And free shipping. A 2 3/4" heel, leather, perfect.
You just have to shop around. The classics never go out of style. I will never understand the cold shoulder look or the drop shoulder, it is not becoming on most women. It's a fad. Wild, wild prints on leggings, a person looks like walking wallpaper I overheard ladies say, I happen to agree.
I do wish Talbots would put a 2 or 3% spandex in their classic cotton tops to hold their shape better. Chico's does, and their tops last a long time and hold their shape.
Each store has their strong points. I just find I'm not shopping Talbots as much anymore. My advice, you'll never find everything you need in an exactly one store.
When it comes to the drop shoulder, it looks like somebody in middle school home economics class had their pattern off...
A lady should look like a lady..
Talbots needs to get more fluent, nimble & competitive in its return & inventory system. This decentralization of its stores & the utter disconnect from its online inventory system is the reason they lost a customer today.
As a Process Manager of a fortune 50 company, I see how this company will soon be closing its doors. So here is what has happened multiple times & just this week:
I purchased 2 items last week online at 70% off. Both shirts were too big. I went to the store to exchange & they had to be ordered again online due to out of stock in store. I ended up paying $6.00 more for my 2 shirts because they could not just do an even swap vs refund & repurchase. How inefficient! I lost the 70% off sale PLUS my 10% off birthday discount. It took 37 minutes of my time in the store to get ripped off. I called customer service just now & they would not refund me the difference!
The following are major business flaws w/ Talbots. I will be staying with Macys now & Amazon Basics line as a result.
~No... I wont or dont use credit cards to get free shipping, thank you try again Talbots!
~Why cant you offer IN STORE PICK UP vs spend over $100 or spend 35+minutes in a store, to get free shipping? It will cost you more $ w/ a min of a 30 min trans to pay an employee to ring me up! Everyone else has site to store you better wake up!
~ Why can't you do an even exchange why do you have to refund and then repurchase that's just inefficient.
~Why cant I repurchase a return item at the same lower cost you initially repilurchased it for if the item costs more today? Thats a BAIT & SWITCH!
~Checkout process is slow!
~Too many chatty old ladys work there.
~Stop running your brick & mortors as individual businesses
Not a fan of Talbots! The selection is often very limited and the clothing is generally overpriced.
Ordered a sweater coat over a month ago and it said it was delivered but I never got it! Emailed them 5 times and no response! DONT BUY FROM THEM!
Answer: China, where everything else is made these days. I don't think many, if any, of their products are made in the USA.
Answer: They are sneaky. Waited over a month for a jacket, returned it and a month later I asked where is my credit. They said they received and put a credit in my account (not what I wanted as I purchased jacket elsewhere) but never notified me they received and I have a credit. In other words, they just keep unsuspecting customers' money and never tell you. I will never shop there again (except to use my credit if I can't get them to credit my card hahaha)
Answer: I have never had an issue with exchanges. I have never requested a refund.
Answer: The quality of the clothes going back about 10-15 years ago was EXCELLENT. I still have shorts purchased then but they are now showing their age. Purchased similar over the last get years and while they are still $60 the quality is on par with perhaps Walmart
Answer: They are easy to reach and cooperative. They are responsive to customer's needs
Answer: They are a legitimate company and have been in business for many years
