I was very anxious about purchasing flights. This is my first time flying, nonetheless abroad, and I found that the help line services are EXTREMELY helpful! My wait time was never longer than 15 minutes and I received active communication throughout.
I knew that scoring a $25 flight was going to be a little more difficult than just a few clicks so I decided to get set up the night before. However, the website was down for maintenance and I had to wait until just prior to the release to get into my account. Needless to say, the site was hammered immediately when the airline tickets were released. My strategy had been to have a few browser windows open, each searching for the trip parameters. For the next 20 minutes I received site too busy errors or spinning cursor. Just when I was about to give up the flight selection window came up. I grabbed a roundtrip home and back. Once selected everything went smooth as a hot knife through butter. An amazingly good check out experience.
The person who responded my request to change the dates were very patient and kind, since English isn't my first language. Its was also very diligent! Even though it was after 10 pm,I got a great customer service! Impressed!
I ordered same day international flight, called the customer service and immediately got to talk to a real person without all the automatic answering machine that put you in circles. The Rep was able to request to expedite my ticket issuance and within 30 minutes I got my ticket confirmation. Great experience! Will do it again. Also, they have amazing price.
Shockingly long winded telephone answer machine whose gibberish amounts to nothing. Impossible to get hold of a real person, terrified of the response when I do. Hopeless, hapless, buyer beware... as a concerned parent with many years of travel experience, I would advise students not to use this woeful organisation and encourage parents not to allow them to.
The website loads incredibly slowly, randomly doesn't display flights available through other websites/airlines, and raised the price of flights by $300+ right before we purchased them. We also found some of the same flights listed for better prices on other sites. Do not use this site if you can avoid it.
Hi Samuel, sorry you felt that way. The flights you chose cost $1,905 on Google Flights and $1763.99 on StudentUniverse. You also purchased insurance for $101.30 and paid $30 for seat selection. And then you applied the voucher to save $1,500, which means the flights cost $394.69 USD ($1,905 if on GF). Sorry we were not able to help you save even more. Sincere apologies.
Seriously student universe is the worst travel company I have ever come across. They can go back on their words and written agreements and make up new stories. All the representatives are poorly informed about policies and managers say something different and their leads will tell a whole new agreement and stories.
I am down with $1000 and I swear never ever coming back to them for any travel no matter what.

I called three times yesterday to cancel a seat reservation. Each time I was treated so courteously. Everyone understood the urgency of the matter and acted with speed and kindness. I'm very impressed with Student Universe's customer service.

Told me they are applying Emirates policy for cancelling my flights ($150) but after speaking to Emirates via online chat they were not charging their customers... seem to pick and choose which policy suits them?
Moreover the window seat option does not guarantee you a window seat... a waste of money.
Seemed like I was saving money in the short term but beware of this company!

We are always bound to airline policies, but most airlines have only waived cancellation fees for credit/vouchers, not for cash refunds, which is probably why you were informed of a cancellation fee. If the airline is waiving their fee, we will always also offer that:)
For the seats, we understand it is frustrating but it is sometimes the case that there aren't any seats left of the kind you selected available—in which case we always refund that seat selection fee. My experience with StudentUniverse was great! I booked my flight a day before my trip and it was still incredibly affordable! In fact, much cheaper than Amtrak. I will definitely be using this website again when booking airfare.

I didn't realize initially that the cost shown did not include choosing seats. When I selected seats, there was an added charge (which was clear before I submitted the final payment). But probably if I had let the airline choose the seats for me, there would be no extra charge. Everything ended up more expensive, especially with other add-ons that seemed important (such as ability to change the flight, even if the airline has a problem).
If I could give a minus star, I would. Bought a ticket with other student friends to go to California and then the pandemic broke. They refused to refund and are now telling me I crossed my deadline date for the next travel as though the pandemic is over. I did not choose not to travel it was due to a pandemic I keep telling studentuniverse for a year now but nothing. Travel was banned by the government; quarantine. They choose to reap where they have not sown. They discriminate give my friends their refund but refuse to give me my refund concerning the same flight, the same reason for not traveling; pandemic! Avoid at all costs not worth your money or the massive stress with dealing with this company.

I had purchased an international ticket for my son and paid an extra $150 for insurance that allowed a cancellation for any reason. When his passport didn't arrive in time because of Covid we had to cancel (in advance of the 3 day window). The insurance company only refunded me $135 and offered zero explanation. They won't talk to you on the phone and the appeals process says I have to wait months to hear. This company is a fraud!

The booking process was fine but when trying to cancel a flight i was informed that it would cost me more than the original price of the ticket and there was nothing they could do. Pretty much what you would expect from this kind of website

My experience using Student Universe for finding flights to Milan for my upcoming student abroad program has been great! It has made finding flights much easier & gives me a lot of options. I originally found my purchased flight for cheaper than I paid, but I had to wait an extra day or so & in that time they prices became more expensive. Overall, I still got a better deal!
