I had a problem giving them my money. They locked my account because it was hacked and used to spam. But I recovered it and tried buying a game and it took buying prepaid cards at a brick and mortar store to do it. But when I asked for support I got nothing but an entirely unhelpful, robotic response and then my ticket was closed with no chance to respond and tell them they had no clue what they were talking about. This was my first foray back into PC gaming in over a decade, and after this I'm not encouraged to ever give Valve my money again
Tried to get in contact for 3 days made paypal dispute still cant recover account lost 1000s of dollars trying to get all my money back now what a huge inconvenience i will never use steam again now cannot get any support they shut that down
Unfairly banned me and my friend's accounts with lots of savings in them and box prices.
Even though they let you have multi accounts paying them more if you loan your friend your account they perma ban you, They ignore their support email for a week (if you want just ask for proof), give a canned response not saying what you did or talking to you and every email after is a canned response. This company is full of crooks and you will never know when you will get unfairly punished in a way that's not even tier stepped where you can wait it out, with no way to get your time or money back. BUYER BEWARE!
Had thousands of hours in and it all got erased
They have no way to contact customer service, there help onsite is like a Kafka novel, endless circles to nowhere. I was trying to make a purchase, the price came up $2 more than the product I clicked on, and there was zero ways to ask about it. I will not buy from them again. "Instant Gaming" is cheaper and customer service is great.
I have been locked out of my account and they will not help me get it back. I go through their automated hoops, but their captcha keeps saying I did it wrong no matter how many hundreds of times I click the sidewalk.
I have emailed them at least 4 times trying to get support but they simply do not answer. Running a "business" this way is not a good way to retain good customers. I have purchased a few games from them but now even if by some miracle they do help me get access to my account, I will still find other sites to buy from. My advice is to steer clear because there are other platforms to get games from.
I've got my account hijacked, asked for help at the steam support, but they keep saying that, they feel sorry for my account(and for my money), and if i want to play again, I only have one way, to create a new account, and buy again the game. I quit steam, and this is not what a support should be like.
There's steam powered & steam powered agency. The agency is complete fraud where they have trolls on social media posting in various sites stating work from home jobs & work own hours & can make 200+ a day. Well what the agency does is rate new or poorly rated games to a better rate so cons people to buy the game. Each game you rate you get commission but the catch is that if the optimization you are reviewing and rating is more that what you have in account, you have to put your own money to get to the next review. Well I got suckered & lost a $#*! load of money. Now they blocked me & will never see my money again.
Steampowered agency is a big scam. They took lot of my money. Every time I have to put more more more and it was never ending. My funds finished but there demands were endless. Lost a lot of money. I was working for company that took money for writing reviews.
I gave them a shot as they're supposedly the hottest high octane platform right now. But they're utter garbage. Instead of a SIMPLE gaming master download install (like that of Big Fish, Gamehouse etc) You must first install the popup Chat/Queue, that may / or many not work. THEN visit their platform to runaround rinky dink steps for installing a Demo version that may or may not function. I installed Mortuary - and it froze twice, then lagged. Then ended it to discover that it was for Windows 7 "or newer"!
Just got off the phone with my bank because this site (which I've never heard off until today) has been charging a series of $30 amounts on my card without me knowing about it.
Go F yourself steampowered.com. See you in court.
I have also been sucked-in by Steam, after purchasing software for Doom 3. Having successfully installed the disc and access the website account, I still cannot get the game to operate, and there is no assistance whatsoever from admin or technical support, despite my enquiries. It is a complete rip-off.
A) It will bog down your pc when you go to start your pc up.
B) Customer Support - in name only, there is none
C) No tickets - it is a pigeon hole automated support that if you don't have the issues listed then you're out of luck
D) I found one or two cute 2 bit games only their developers are just doing cookie cutter techniques to paste a game together and a ton of ego. Essentially they are just hoping to go viral and make some cash in the process without the extended understanding of the genre they are making it in.
E) Any company, doesn't matter for what, when they don't have a direct line to support (phone number) and they don't have a ticket option you can text your concerns, then run. Run fast. And run in the opposite direction.
Run from Steam, it's simply not worth it and I for one and not going to give my financial information to one that can't be contacted.
You've been warned. Just say'n. :)
Bought a game. It didn't work. They refuse any sort of refund. There is no UK telephone number and their registered UK address appears to be a mail forwarding company (1000+ other companies use same address). So, you cannot easily sue them and since you have no "hard copy" of any game purchased, they could simply delete your account, or go bust, and you loose hundreds of pound worth of games. Better to buy a DVD even if it costs a little more. Also, you can sell the DVD when you get fed up of it!
Steam offers a large variety of games to select from. I've been using steam for more than 5 years and had never been disappointed. If you're patient enough you can even snatch some of your favorite games on huge discounts.
Verified several $100's of items for trade, my items, the player & account that wanted them disappeared. Contacted Steam repeatedly, no help. Ideas? Suggestions? 2 years of trying to get this resolved, it's like talking to a wall. No one listening or trying to help at the company. Any other players have suggestions on how I might resolve this? Does Customer Service ever reply to emails?
Purchased Call of Duty: Black Ops II, after literally hours and hours of trying to get the "Steam Installer" to just download the game I gave up. I emailed tech support two different days - still no reply. Of course there is no phone number. I definitely will not be visiting or purchasing from this site again.
I'm sure my email requests for a refund will receive the same attention my requests for support did.
I bought a game (ESO) from Steam but it never worked. I opened up 17 refund requests but each one was declined - despite having never played a single minute of the game. I only ever got a copy/ paste reply and never had the feeling that anyone actually read my request.
I think it is safe to say that Steam does not actually have any support, just bots. It is disgraceful that this company can take people's money and not provide the product paid for.
I haven't used my account in a few years and Steam have upgraded their security system, so even though I know my username and password, they won't let me access my account because I can't remember the email address that I used. I've spent days emailing back and forth with their support and they just make stupid excuses. They can see nobody has accessed the account in years back still claim to be "protecting the owner", no you're just angering the owner and making sure they don't spend any more money with you.
Really like the site... buy a lot of games from them... just be careful and see if anything id going on sale before you buy it... I bought a game and 2 days later it went on sale for 25% off... I emailed steam to see if I could get that discount (the money refunded to me) and they said no :( so I'm only going to buy from them when the thing I want is on sale... so I don't lose out again... other than that its a really great site!
They just want to sell you anything, doesn't matter what a piece of crap it is. Busted old games, or just complete junk to use in their games. To top if off, their customer support wavers between sucks and nonexistent.
Answer: There's a higher volume of users that want help from Steam Support, however, they'll often try to answer most of the questions that is coming in a daily basis. Steam doesn't have enough staff members to check on the endless questions coming in so you question is most likely on queue. For the other question are you using the same account from the old PC? Please use the same account onto your new PC. Normally CDKeys will follow the original account it was placed in.
Answer: I haven't saw a video game that requires ongoing payments. Most video games I have purchase are all one time payment. However, there is a steam sale going on right now. Remember the games are only linked to one account so you can't transfer to another account.
