If you use Steam and you have no problems. Good.
But if you run across a problem... like trying to get a refund... now you get to see the REAL Steam.
Bots will tell you that your request is declined. No humans to talk to, no humans to challenge the decision.
They got your money.
If you want help, go to the Steam community and try another user, because Steam couldn't be bothered.
They have the most useless support team I've ever encountered better off replace there support team with AI. Can't help there client. I hope they lost all their user in this flatform
Sucks.
They are enslaving you when purchase games through them.
During time they keep pressure on your nick and may stopped your account anytime. You may lose all your games.
For GOD sake, buy your games in HARD old type (DVD-Blu-ray) no Downloads.
Steam is one of the best online gaming communities there is. The website is safe and easy to navigate, and payment is professional and secure. All you need to do is be careful and network yourself properly on their online community.
These folks are in the business of stealing credit card numbers. Do not use your credit card number on this website! Our children used our card to buy a game here and they continuously charged the card until the bank cancelled the card.
I received an e-mail stating that I bought two games at Steam. When I replied a hacker used my reply to gain access to my Steam Account and bought two games. After reporting this to Steam, Steam found the hacker and charged the hacker for the games. Steam then said they will give me credit for the $55.00 amount the hacker charged but I must pay $55.00 to continue to use my account. Steam says that they cannot remove the fraudulent charges from my account. Huh? Steam says I must pay the $55.00 in order to continue using their company, download games, etc. I have purchased dozens of games and I have basically been locked out from being able to play the dozens of games that I have purchased because a hacker got into my account. This is not right. It sounds to me like Steam is doing the "hacking".
Almost $1000 was stolen from my bank account thru Steam. My Steam account was hacked. Bank refunded thank God. Told Steam support via email due to them not have a phone number. No response from Steam.
Very, very bad site, it will not let you purchase the items, or create a new account. It does not guide you as to what to do next, or how to create a new account. And on top of all of it no ENGLISH!.
Bought both skyrim- legendary edition and the Elder Scrolls heritage boxed set on-line. Neither of the posted adds indicated they were STEAM dependent products. My only access to the internet is through the library. The vendors claim 'caveat emptor', and since Valve/Steam is committed to a non-communcation stance with its customers, well... take a look at the title of my rant. Don't buy ANYTHING, be it product or service from Valve/Steam. Perhaps the loss of business will make them realize that in ANY business, the customer is king.
Stay away from steampowered products for the following reason:
I installed Steam for Mac and registered as a user. I searched for "AVGN adventures" in the store of the Steam application. The application offered the game and I paid it through iDeal.
However, after paying I wanted to install the AVGN game, but the game is not for Mac although I can buy it through the Steam on Mac application.
Note that the system requirements were not given when the search was performed, or that the application warned me that the game is not suitable for Mac.
I contacted support but they will not refund the money.
In addition, since I paid with iDeal under Dutch Law I am entitled to revert the deal within 7 days of the purchase.
Support is completely ignoring the law it should respect.
Stay away from steampowered products.
Rob
Stay well clear of steam no customer service at all, a link that says contact steam with no email address, I can't believe it waited 4 days still not even an email very poor worst I, have experience.
Great experience buying and playing through Steam. They have a bunch of weekend promotions, besides the cheap games, automatically updates and support.
I bought a game (Northgard) for my new MacBook Pro 16 inch 32gb of ram but it is working terribly and is overheating when I try to play it. I tried to check for the issue but there's no fix for it. I can't play this game because it will destroy my MacBook otherwise... don't use steam unfortunately.!
The best place to buy pc games, but slightly lacking customer support options. The only support is email and it rarely takes less than 2 days for response.
I play games on steam, however i wanted to buy stuff for the game. I spent 200$ only to wait SEVERAL months due to the steam guard system that they have in place. I messaged customer support about my problem, and they cant do anything or wont do anything on their end. When i say SEVERAL MONTHS I MEAN 6... Systems dont get any worst then this, never spending another dollar again.
Steam is better than other $#*!e like Origin, uPlay or whatever the frack exists out there. Can get all best games like Team Fortress and CS: GO here and sell your items for big money so its like the best.
Really if you have scammers going around taking several or even more unauthorized transactions out of your account... as 100s of people would verify. Just close the hell down Steampowered,
I've purchased a lot of games from this website and I'll give you my feedback. I would that steam doesn't have a great customer service due to lack of staff and high numbers of customers they have to deal with in a daily basis.
However, I have never needed to ask for support for help as you can see that most but not all games don't function as well. I wouldn't say its the website's fault as you see it's the developer of the games. They don't update their stuff for new buyers and their games might fall apart over time like numerous of older games have did.
Users of the site can market in-game items, trade video games if needed (but there is a 30 day waiting period once you purchase the game), all the games will be in you account never deleting or destroyed like physical games do, etc. Great online community making content for the videos and may even be updates for their favourite games. Try it once you may be surprise or won't. It's your choice.:)
It's worth every penny and I'll continue using this site as long it's selling video games.
Not only do they require you to install and program giving them access to your computer, they also do not stand by their products. I purchased a product from Steam, and there were numerous bugs in the software that rendered the program unusable. After more than a month of arguing with a customer service team that didn't actually respond appropriately to the questions I asked, they continutally refused a refund based on the fact that "they do not offer refunds even if the software does not function as specified at the time of purchase."
DO NO PURCHASE FROM STEAM. There are many other vendors that do not require you to download a privacy invading program that consumes computer resources and mines data, and sell the SAME software at SAME OR BETTER prices. Oh, and I have never had any issues with any other software vendor that denies refunds when they ADMITTEDLY SELL YOU A FAULTY PRODUCT.
NEVER AGAIN.
I can't rate the platform because I choose to install che client in a destination drive different then C: and voilat, it cancelled all my files on that drive without warning me. UNBEAREBLE!
I am now in the long painful process of file rescuing, no time for BS, thank you Steam!
Answer: There's a higher volume of users that want help from Steam Support, however, they'll often try to answer most of the questions that is coming in a daily basis. Steam doesn't have enough staff members to check on the endless questions coming in so you question is most likely on queue. For the other question are you using the same account from the old PC? Please use the same account onto your new PC. Normally CDKeys will follow the original account it was placed in.
Answer: I haven't saw a video game that requires ongoing payments. Most video games I have purchase are all one time payment. However, there is a steam sale going on right now. Remember the games are only linked to one account so you can't transfer to another account.
