A guy hit my car changing lanes. He was at fault, given a citation He unfortunately has State Farm as an insurance company. Absolutely useless. All they keep telling me is that they cant get a hold of him, and I have to wait. They give them "4 chances" (a chance every other day) to respond to calls, then they "escalate" the claim, and then my car will be fixed. Well, apparently, the "escalation" is just another set of reps who try to call the guy. THEN, if they dont hear from him after who knows how long, they send certified mail, and THEN if he doesnt respond to that within a certain period of time, they send someone to his home (which i honestly think is just an address, but not where he actually resides) THEN if theres no luck with that, they escalate it, and will go by the POLICE REPORT and my word that he was at fault. I have a special needs child, a disabled husband, and no car. I've paid out of pocket for my car to be towed to my house, and don't have the funds to be shelling out repairs for a 2021 vehicle that someone else ruined by their own negligence. The latest rep i spoke to (going on day 10 dealing with these people and having no answers) used a very sarcastic tone when she mentioned the insurance company I had ( i could picture her rolling her eyes) then proceeded to tell me i should have had better insurance, so that they would pay for the damages that HER CLIENT caused to my vehicle. I had gotten a quote for insurance from state farm, and I am beyond glad that I didn't go with them. I could have just went around hitting cars with mine and avoid phone calls and not have to deal with it.

I have been a customer of state farm for over 40 years. Recently my car was in an accident which according to state farm, the car needed to be totaled. We figured like a "trust neighbor" state farm would be there, but NO. Instead state farm has done everything they could to provide the lowest possible payout.

In example, our car had 49k miles, was in excellent condition, one owner vehicle, clean enough you could eat off the seats. What state farm compared the car to were vehicles with thousands of miles more, in some cases over 30k miles more, with less features and pegged their valuation to those vehicles, even though evidence of much lower mile vehicles were provided to them.

They would not make an adjustment for the lower miles of our vehicle or allow appraisals of cars with the same exact year, features and miles of our vehicle in neighboring states to be used as comparable. Instead they invoke a clause to have us get an independent appraiser to come in to appraise the vehicle knowing most will not pay or bother with the extra burden.

Beware of their marking spin, after 40 years as a customer, we learned State Farm is not a good neighbor.

I have an auto loan with State Farm, and would never recommend this company to anyone. I will be telling everyone I know that State Farm is the worst company. Their employees are extremely rude, will talk over you and raise their voice at you. They avoid my calls for days at a time (telling me they will call me before the day ends but they never do). Keith Hartsgrove in Lakeland FL was suppose to call me in regards to reinstating my loan by the end of the day. Each day I called and his assistant would promise me he would be in touch by the end of the day. He never called and was always too busy to talk to me. When I finally got a hold of him 5 phone calls later and 4 days later I had to ask him why it was so hard to get him to communicate with me because he acted as if nothing happened. I have worked customer service for years and I can say this is THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced in my life. Nobody is trained properly. I was told my loan was reinstated all i had to do was pay almost $700 which is every penny I had during this pandemic. So I gave them every penny I had to get my loan reinstated. The lady told me it was reinstated and where to make my monthly payments. I made my next monthly payment on time and then i got a call from a collection agency that they sold off my account... what the hell. Nobody ever told me that would happen. I will be leaving bad reviews everywhere I can and spreading the news to everyone I know.

Terrible experience with the claims of State Farm I was driving home on November 10th 2019 from work and a mile away from my exit a deer jumps across the interstate and I hit it I called and filed a claim took pictures received a police report everything I needed to do well it is now December 18th 2018 and I still have not received my car back I called the shop and they stated that there waiting on a response from StateFarm I called State Farm and asked to speak to my adjuster according to them there is an entire team but it takes them almost 7 days to respond to a request from State Farm claim team so they can continue to work on my car the shop I choose to go through provided details of when they put in a request to statefarm and when they received a response nobody at State Farm cars you are without a car and since I've maxed out my rental coverage they unable to do anything which proves they do not care about me getting around for the holidays worst experience ever

My 90 yo mom who lives in a mobile home on our property had a tree fall through her roof on 7-11-2022. State Farm Claim # 33-36L8-12F. They sent out an adjuster a week later and he estimated the total damages of $8,100. We live in a very rural area and getting someone out for this type of damage to an old trailer with a metal roof has proven very difficult. But we got one person to give is a written estimate that was $17,500. I got one other verbal estimate for about the same thing. I met with 2 others that would not even give an estimate. One contractor laughed at me when I told him what State Farm estimated.
After arguing with State Farm for 6 weeks they said they would send a different adjuster out for a second opinion. 2 weeks later and after many unanswered and unreturned phone calls they tell me they don't have another adjuster and will send the same adjuster out.
It's now 9-29-2022, 10 weeks and my 90 yo mom is still sleeping with a blue tarp over her head covering a huge 14 foot wide gaping whole over her bed and bath.
I am so frustrated, and I don't know what to do.
Whatever you do, don't buy your homeowners insurance from State Farm. If you have them already get rid of them before it's too late. Or you might be as sorry as I am for having them as my insurance company for the last 20 years.

Dont Trust Him
March 28, 2016

Worst experience ever! I've had my policy for about 3 years untill recently when it was cancelled with out my knowledge. I guess somehow a payment didn't go through so they "called" me on Jan 26th and say they left a message which i never got. Then since it was so important they waited almost a month Feb 22nd to send me an email. Then when they didn't get a reply they decided to wait ANOTHER MONTH! To send my bill to the wrong address (how i do not know seeing as my policy is for MY CURRENT ADDRESS! And now the bill is way past due and i owe a bunch of money and this Nick Janet person, who i've never even talked to, wont even call me (good representation there state farm). WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT ALLOW THIS GUY TO SCREW YOU OVER TOO!

Beware of this company trying to sell you a replacement cost policy on your business or home. Although it seems there agents are very honest and try to do the best for thier clients, thier claims people and processes are very much the opposite especially if your claim is ver large. If you think this company wants to pay you more to rebuild than what you paid you will have a very rude awakening. Be prepared to go to your. Lawyer. And file suite as they will want to do an investigation that takes years. They will hire an outside attorney to grill you and call it an examination under oath. In that exam they will try to make you admit to violations in your policy and if that doesn't work accuse you of criminal activity. Read your policy thoroughly and understand it totally. Make sure you have an attorney with you and absolutely don't give any statements without. One as they will use anything they can to beat your claim or beat you in court. They also already at this time before you even file a claim have processes and witnesses that will testify against you. Although many states have bad faith. Laws the insurance industry especially state farm thumb thier nose at it and the court system. You will be hard pressed to find professional witnesses against them as most make a comfortable living working for them. And get this they are forensic professionals because they have been to a 1 or 2 week seminar put on or paid for by the insurance company. They will run up your expenses and try to bankrupt you taking as long as they legally can, if they lose they will appeal and appeal again yes they have deeper pockets than anyone.
Just google bad faith and you'll find state farm as the poster child. If you and I operated a business like this we would go to prison for fraud and racketeering.

This is in regards to home owners insurance. We also have them as car insurance and since we've never had an issue with our cars, all's well. However when we filed our first claim for our house, (never filed before) due to water overflow in bathrooms, we were assigned three different adjusters. The first said they'd pay for coverage and then demoed our bathrooms. So we have torn-up bathrooms (they connected back to back so water effected both) and we have two children (ages 3+1) and we get assigned a new adjuster who says now they're not going to pay for the rebuild process which we had scheduled for Monday. We booked an Airbnb (first adjuster said State Farm would cover this) but now they won't, and it's nonfundable. Our rebuild is delayed, we have this Airbnb we no longer need and have to pay for on our own. Then we get assigned yet another adjuster who's supposed to come and inspect our bathrooms. But this adjust is outright ignoring us, never answering our calls, and we have these unusable bathrooms with our two children. It's a mess. They say they don't want to pay for rebuild because now it looks like there was a slow leak. But there seriously was no sign of this and we had no idea. How does this count as negligence? We would have had it fixed if we'd known. We have plumbers before and they never mentioned a slow leak. I'm confused why at first they'd cover for rebuild, and then won't. We had a sudden spill so I guess that's a separate issue. But they demoed our bathrooms and now are delaying any rebuild. I'm ready to call for contractors, but I'm angry because what's the point of insurance if we just have to do everything ourself and pay for it, after they at first said differently. It's been a month and we've been dealing with this with still no resolve. They left California. They'll leave other states, I'm sure. They are not helpful. This is bad insurance. Do not get them no matter where you live. They treat you as if you don't matter, that you're not human.

State Farm used to have a good reputation, but like so many once great companies that we remember fondly, that reputation is nothing more than a fading echo from the past.

After signing up with State Farm and discovering that their 'Drive Safe and Save' software is incompatible with my smartphone, that's when the problems began. The agent who gave me the quote should have asked what kind of phone I had to see if the program would work with my phone, but that didn't happen. Why State Farm offers this program that only works with 'certain' smartphones and not others is another mystery in and of itself.

Since the discount for using their software was not going to work, I attempted to cancel my policy and get a refund. I received a cancellation notice on Sept. 10 from State Farm, and as of Oct. 11, I still have not received my refund.

I have attempted to resolve this situation numerous times with both the local agent and the national headquarters, but to no avail. Every time you call the national headquarters you get transferred from one department to another, and each time you have to identify yourself all over again to the next agent (during the same call), including having to verbally recite a text or email code, as well as listen to a long and meandering prerecorded message each time before you can speak to a person. This is so stupid and annoying and a complete waste of time.

All you get each time you talk to someone are meaningless apologies and excuses. I am now back with Geico and will not even consider State Farm again until this company gets new management and fixes the numerous problems that are rampant throughout this company.
