This has got to be one of the worse sites for cancelling your subscription, Ive contacted them a number of times Via email as thats the only way they allow you too. After several attempts, a number of years and a couple hundred pounds my subscription still isn't cancelled.
I would not recommend this site to anyone at all.
I am not sure why there has been a change to the profile but the old StarNow profile was much better. I cancelled subscription to Backstage because I did not like its layout, how it posted jobs and it seemed more geared to the American market which was very confusing to me.
I hope StarNow eventually returns back to its old format. I am really confused about this whole thing. Also my media is deleted along with my credits which does not even make me want to sign up just to start all over again.
Absolutely hate the update. They have made it so much harder to use the website. It used to be so much easier to manage, but now it's just mind-blowing (and not in a good way/). It is like the old saying "don't fix it if it's not broken". I don't mind if there was a little of change, but it is literally like nails against a chalkboard. All old messages have suddenly appeared, and can't be deleted. When searching for castings, I would use the method of viewing and once applying for said casting, it would get archived ect... But again, this has changed and is so much harder to manage.
I guess it's time to find an alternative (simple) casting site for my daughter and me.
Please fire your web developer, they have done a terrible job of making the website user-friendly.
I have canceled my membership in October 2019, yesterday (3 of may 2020) I was checking my bank account and noticed that STARNOW started charging me for "upgraded" membership since January 2020, and so 15.99 per month. They just take your money even after you cancel membership and so 3 months after? They are liars and selfish money takers. Please put your hands away from this dodgy company guys, trust me! They just charged me more then 70 pounds even after my cancelation last year. I do not understand how they could do it. I will fight for my rights.

In regards to the cancellation of your subscription, I have had a look at your StarNow profile it looks like this was unfortunately not successfully cancelled until after you had contacted the Customer Success Team on May 2nd 2020 - hence why this most recent payment was taken.
However, I can see that our Customer Success Team have now made an exception to our policy, and provided you with a refund. Please leave at least 7 working days for the funds to be back in your account.

TERRIBLE! I've tried contacting them about removing my account and data on their email *******@starnow.com they state on their webste is their customer service and after waiting a few days the profile is still not removed. Their link to remove your profile: https://www.starnow.com/confirm/profileremoval/. Is conveniently broken and says 'Oh shoot! This probably isn't the page you were looking for...' as the page is not active. TERRIBLE company. TERRIBLE. AVOIDDD!
I subscribed to Starnow as an extra for a trial period of one month and subsequently after a few weeks realised it was a waste of money and attempted to cancel before the end of the month. I didn't read the clever misleading small print and assumed that my cancellation went through only to discover that the scumbags had stolen money from my account the preceding months after. This is during the covid 19 pandemic when there wouldn't be any work anyway. They prey on naïve people who don't always read the small print and only offer a postponement instead of a cancellation clause. Be warned keep well away from this low life conning organisation they just want your money by any means and scams.

It reads: "Your StarNow membership will renew automatically every -- months. You can cancel at any time".

Shocking company. I had a starnow and a mandy account before they merged. After the merger, I couldn't get into my starnow account, so I emailed them about trying tonsort it out. They were no help at all and in the end, they decided that my 'email tone' wasn't up to the terms and conditions, so have deleted my account and am not allowed to open a new account. How can you even tell someone's 'email tone' is wrong enough to cancel an account!
I joined Starnow because my agent had retired. I initially had a panic moment as to what I was going to do. That's when I searched online and found your site.
At first I was a bit skeptical and researched Starnow for a few weeks before joining. Like most sites there were varying reviews, but most were positive, which led to me becoming a member.
Before the week was out I secured my first booking. That has continued over the course of my membership to the point I have put off getting a new agent at this point.
I now promote the site on a regular basis to anyone I know in the performing arts fields. Of course you need to work the site, but once you set all your filters it just a matter of applying for each job then negotiating fees if they are too low.
I am very lucky to be versatile and have had a very long career, which now is continuing because of your site. So thanks to everyone involved. It has been a great relationship thus far!

I have never spoken to anyone from this company all done by email and your getting closer what you want to here is what they give you. There is no sign of work and a phone call wouldn't go a miss money is all they care about. I'm apro member of the group so still nothing but it's OK I'm getting closer never would I recommend this company to make a cup of tea well worth the lost time and Money NOT Keep your money in your pocket don't waist you time in trying to better yourself..

These people are shameless thieves - I have no doubt whatsoever that all of the positive reviews on here have been created by Starnow themselves.
Casting directors do not use sites like these, if you want to get into acting get yourself an agent.
Their 'service' is non existent, they do nothing at all, it's basically just a like a social network for actors to meet each other - NOT directors or producers.
Last but not least, I the £60 annual subscription renews automatically, "so you can concentrate on looking for acting jobs". I suppose then, Starnow, that you'll be happy to reimburse anyone who accidentally stayed subscribed after never using your non-existent service?

Word of warning - if you are an actor looking for professional acting work, StarNow is not for you.
The job listings are 99% student films, promo work or unpaid. Very low end jobs that in no way will help to further an acting career.
Spotlight and Mandy are far superior casting services for actors (Facebook groups are even a better way to get acting work and thats free!).
I made a huge mistake signing up for six months. Hopefully I will prevent others from doing the same!

Their staff are rude and unhelpful. They changed their site so that now you sign up for a monthly subscription, however this is AFTER they changed their site. Now loads of people have complained and said "Why am I being charged!?" and they claim the site always made that clear. It does now, it didn't before. Call them out on this and they'll piss their pants and refund you like they did with me.
Oh and one more thing... I started off by asking if it would be possible to get a full refund and cancel my account. What do they do? Refuse to give a refund (at first) and then delete my account even though I had three more months of membership left... of the 4 morons I spoke to, none of them could grasp the stupidity.

I signed up to star now years ago, but only as a basic member. I vaguely remember paying for something but then I cancelled it a few months later. Recently I went into my bank account to find they have stolen £29 odd from my account! Basic members don't pay! I recommend not giving any bank details to these thieving ba*****s, It is fraud! And I will be taking this further.

I cancelled my subscription and I still got money taken from my bank account today. The site was completely useless for me, I didn't found any good castings and on top of that I feel robbed. If you want castings try another service and don't give your money to this company who is going to drain your bank account even after cancelling with them.
Starnow have been taking money from my account £27 this month. I'm not even a full member so should pay nothing at all. They did the same to my friend it seems. Taking random figures out sporadically is a huge sign that this is not a "mistake" it has been planned so that I don't notice it going bit by bit. If anyone else has had this happen please tell me immediately. Right I am off to tell my bank.

Was easy to sign up to but just you try leaving. We been trying for 18 months. My husbands credit card expired so we thought finally starnow can't take payment now... wrong they trying to take money from my bank card now. No idea how they think that is acceptable. Don't do it. Stay away.

I can not believe these people are still in business. I signed up for an account last week... Poor me. I didn't do my research until now...
I ended up signing for a basic profile and they still charged my card for a full membership fee of 28.54$
The companies that sign up with their sight are not verified... Starnow considers a companies that posts on their site to be verified if they provide a website link - Just because a company has a website does not mean they are legit and reputable - do your research.
I sent them an email explaining that I never signed up for a full membership profile... Just the basic - which should be free.
They are not clear about their terms and they charge an unnecessary admin fee of 2.50$.
Avoid and use a free site!
