Too difficult
October 16, 2021

I purchased a bed frame from Wayfair & purchased the insurance from SquareTrade. I just need a replacement part, not the entire item but they had me jump through a million hoops with unnecessary pictures. I sent pictures of the broken piece but they required the whole item. Sent that but they couldn't see the broken area. On month 2 trying to get the part replaced. At this point I'll just contact the manufacturer to get the part myself. Totally dissatisfied!

Worst experience EVER!
October 14, 2021

It took 6 DAYS to repair a broken screen and get my phone back. When I called on day 3 to see what was taking soo long Latoya Wilson said it would be shipped and I should received it the following day. Obviously that didn't happen, and when I tried calling back to speak to her about this issue she had representative tell me she would call me back and NEVER did. I She is a SUPERVISOR, and I had to get a representative to me with a different supervisor by the name of Chavannagh that finally help me. He gave me a tracking number assuring me that my phone was on it's way back to me. Finally on day 6, I received my phone. This process has messed up money for me, and delayed my school work. I have done this process before and normally my phone is only gone 24-48 hours, this has been the WORST service I've ever received.

Getting nothing but the run around with this company SquareTrade. The part for the repair was approved for installation. No email with tracking and contact information. The part was even ordered and sent to the house…then nothing. Again, no email, no contact from the contractor to install. Called back to ST repeatedly over a three week period and got the same answer, "We need to research and have an email sent to you…" No phone numbers are provided for support. No one personally taking responsibility to ensure something gets done; just a bunch of call center folks doing the digital paper shuffling that must be the goal of Allstate's to just frustrate the customer into giving up.

There is a huge disconnect between the Costco Concierge service to SquareTrade to Allstate in general…and then, if you're lucky to get out of that quagmire, the request just sits until you call ST to prod things along — at a mind numbing pace.

Shame on you Costco for partnering with this trash, shame on Allstate and SquareTrade for some of the worst customer experiences that I've had the good sense to endure.

Sure…everyone's polite, but nothing gets done. Sham. Pure and simple. Don't waste your money on these warranties.

Sad poorly run service
October 12, 2021

Got approved for a replacement TV. Nearly one month later, nothing. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. They blame the shipping vendor. They take no responsibility and cannot give you any answers. I never even got a tracking number from them, as promised. I only feel sorry for the customer service people who have to field the calls for the management hiding in their offices and not answering their phones. Don't buy one. Poorly mismanaged…Sad company, only as good as their managers.

A total run around with every opportunity to just take up your time and piss you off. Over a month of claims that got closed without fixing the TV, Repair shops that don't do work on your TV, Phone numbers given that don't go to a repair shop. Run around, run around until you either want to cry or give up! All the people on the phone are polite just so you think you're actually being helped but you're not. Its a GIMMICK AND A RIP OFF!

So after over 2 weeks, more than 3/4 dozen phone calls, 1 rude & 2 forgetyful reps, I got a check in the mail yesterday for my tv. That doesn't fix it (which is the reason I purchased an extended warranty) it simply replaces it at the purchase cost (18 mo ago) & not the cost of the policy. (go figure) Had it covered today's cost & not the sale price I would be able to replace it for the amount provided As long as the check is good, I have to say it will get a good soundbar so I will once again be able to hear the news or a movie without guessing. It's only been a month, has there been any news? I won't be making this choice again, but Lord willing, I shouldn't need to learn this lesson over. I just thought it was only fair to provide an update, but these guys didn't make that easy. I think they do read the reviews because 3 days later...

They are a scam!
October 5, 2021

I purchased an item and did not install it till after 60 day warranty. It did not work. No problem i had a warranty purchased guess what that did not function as well? This is there quote literally..."Unfortunately, that means the item was defective from the start and has pre-existing issues. We require all SquareTrade-covered items to be fully functional for a set period of time after purchase. Our plans are designed to extend protection of your item for long-term issues, not to cover products that were damaged to begin with. If the retailer or seller you purchased the item from has a return policy, I'd recommend contacting them to return it."

Masters of bait and switch
October 4, 2021

I bought a warrantee for a $800 hot water tank. When it died and filed a claim, I was told it was for the labor not the hardware. Still not sure if they will ever pay anything. They do a good job of collecting their money.

Ripoff
September 27, 2021

I have had three minor claims in the past year for used items purchased from Ebay. Squaretrade insurance was purchased at time via Ebay. In all cases they tried to tell me it was a manufacturer's warranty issue... BS, these items were years out of their warranty. Their policy is to delay till you get tired...& not pay claim.
Each case was finally paid by threatening to file small claims case against AllState. In my case I would do it. Just keep at it...

Update
September 23, 2021
Updated review

I received a call from someone high up in Allstate - the company that owns SquareTrade - and the rep apologized for my experience and got me a refund for the whole $500. She obviously read the post here. So thank you SiteJabber, without your service I never would have gotten my money back. Still doesn't say a lot for Square Trade, but hey. Here it is.

Square Trade protection plans are a complete waste of money
April 22, 2021
Previous review

I bought an HP laptop through Walmart, and got a 2 year Square Trade protection plan. The laptop screen goes black periodically, and then just stays that way. I sent it to HP three times to fix under warranty, and each time it works for awhile then quits again. I called Square Trade, they had me send it in and fixed it - it ran for 2 hours then quit. Overall, this laptop has been at a repair shop more than I've had it. I expected Square Trade to protect my investment, but they didn't. Save your money.

Waste of money
September 22, 2021

I attempted to file my first claim ever with Square Trade. My Kenmore vacuum handle no longer was remaining upright - a plastic clip broke.
The only option provided by Four Square was to package and mail the unit to their repair facility. They did agree to have the repair made but obviously, the hassle and cost of returning it was not worth it. I guess the more difficult they make it, the fewer claims they will have to honor. Keep in mind that if you purchase Four Square protection, more than likely you will be required to send the item to them at your expense to be repaired.

Waste of my $!
September 17, 2021

I purchased a Magnavox Blu ray player as a gift to my father 10 months ago on ebay and a 2yr. Square Trade Electronic coverage. Today the blu ray player stopped working. So I have proper receipt of payment. Figured I'd be all set and I'd be able to replace the item or have it fixed. Nope... all games! First, the receipt picture uploaded didn't show the date they said. But It clearly did... So I resent more copies of full payment receipt... and then it was another issue, they had to "locate" the correct coverage plan because it looked like the wrong plan was used. More time wasted with emails saying nonthing... eventually got me no replacement player for my father or any resolution. What COVERAGE!

I was making a purchase on Ebay August 3rd. 2021, SquareTradeUs was offered as a 3 Year Warranty plan on the product I was purchasing, so I also bought the SquaretradeUs 3 Year Warranty. Later after my purchase I was notified by the seller on Ebay they couldn't fulfill my Ebay purchase as ordered because he (the seller) had already sold part of the order/advertisement to someone else. They made me a counter offer or told me I could cancel the purchase. The counter offer didn't meet my needs, I cancelled my Ebay purchase. I then was stuck with a warranty from SquareTradeUs I didn't need and SquareTradeUs did not refund my money as I requested. Buyer Beware of this!

DONOT I REPEAT WASTE YOUR MONEY SQAURETRADE A SCAM
September 9, 2021

I bought a leather like sectional from Wayfair after a year one of the cushions began to have crack well I took picture of the spot. Now on a vinyl couch the on, y damages possible is cracking or stain. At first they ignored my claim so I called them they sent a stain removal kit which I sent back because it had leaked and the box as wet when UPS brought it to me. Once I called and resent my pictures of my sectional they immediately refuse to Help me saying cracks are no covered under my warranty. My warranty is specific damages are covered regardless. The sectional seat cushions could not be replaced you would have to order a whole new sectional therefor sqauretrade refused my claim stating cracking in the upholstery was not covered no they did not want to replace my couch fortunately Wayfair is more honorable then these scam artist and replace my couch even though it been over a year of date of purchase. By the square trade customers service girl hung up on me.

It took me 48 days to get my claim payed. I tried to start my claim online, the emails did not match. I got a way to reset the email address, changed the email and still couldn't do a claim. Called and was brush off, I was told to do it online. It wasn't allowing me to do it online, so I asked for the manager. That's when the person on the line was able to file the claim. I got an email the next day saying I needed to file the claim with the manufacturer, because it was less than a year old. I called again, I talked to someone who was sure the manufacturer coved water damage. I read him the warranty, and made it clear the only thing that was covered was manufacture defects, not water damage. The warrant I got from there company covered loss and damage. He told me again I need to fill out the manufacturer warranty claim, I asked for the manager. It was then they were able to bypassed that steep. Next they needed a copy of the receipt. It took a total of six calls and a lot of time, but I should get my claim payed. It seems that they make it difficult so you will give up, and they don't have to pay the money. Just ask for a manager, keep calling, and ask them to send a email of what they just told you while you what on the phone with them. Keep going it's your money.

Xmas gift failed. Sent Square Trade a copy of their receipt for the "insurance". Obviously they had to have been involved with the original purchase before they created an insurance document. They continually refused to pay because there was no receipt for a several year old Christmas gift which was identified. Save your money if you are giving a gift.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been fighting with these people for 3 months over an iphone 7 that is not repairable. First they told me the iPhone diagnosis wasn't detailed enough THEN, after yet another trip back to the Genius Bar for a more detailed description of the dead phone I ask for them to just complete the claim and send me my reimbursement. The next bit of fun was when they told me I had a "replace or repair" plan and since the phone wasn't repairable I had to either send the non repairable phone to them and they would send me an out of warranty iPhone 7 or purchase another phone and send them receipt of the purchase. So I went out and bought a new iPhone 12 and sent the receipt. And then they told me that my new phone purchase is not covered under the policy and I should return it and have the store replace it with another iphone 7. I was told on one of my multiple interactions that I could use the reimbursement towards any phone. Word to the wise don't buy a square trade plan ever. Spend a little more money and get one through your carrier or phone maker.

Not good
August 15, 2021

Trade square sold me a warranty for a Bose hearing device. I sent it in to be repaired it was not repairable and discontinued They replaced it with a cheaper set of Bose earbuds noise reduction $250. Mine was a hearing device $500. They had me return them I did. I called and spoke to Kevisha they are sending back the wrong set and told me to call them when I receive them. Do what? This makes no sense.the only hearing aid bose makes with the same features is $849. Replace it with those or refund what I paid for the device you warrantied
