Now, regretfully, I'm writing to tell you our supplier will not have this item available in the promised time frame, and in fact, cannot even give us any kind of reliable timeline for delivery. Because of that, we're cancelling the backorder for this item on your order

Seems to be their favorite excuse for not filling orders. Shame, shame.

Fuel surcharge
February 22, 2023

So I'm paying a member ship fee to get free shipping so they charge a 2.99 fuel surcharge and a.24 cent shipping tax for free shipping.
The deserve their low rating

SG overcharged me by $74.92, and when contacted refused to acknowledge or refund the overcharge. I'm forced to report them for card fraud and have also reported them to the BBB. Steer clear of these scammers!

I bought a seed/fertilizer spreader for my UTV from SG for $143.99. Two week later they drop the price to $98.99. I emailed them that I felt like they needed to credit me the difference. They email me back that it had been over 30 days since I purchased the item and they weren't going to do anything. I told them that I had bought thousands of dollars worth of items from them in the last three years and if this is the way they were going to treat their customers, I would never buy anything else from them. There are too many good companies out there that aren't rip off artist. They need to bone up on customer service because they have none now.

Ordered a pair of boots. Later learned shipping was longer than expected. So, like a dummy, I ordered and paid for a second pair with 2 day shipping. Got the second pair, but they were too small and returned them. FedEx lists they got them, customer service says they don't. Wanted a new pair in the correct size shipped using the 2 day shipping I paid for. I was told it takes 7-10 business days to "process" the return WHEN they receive them before they ship the right size, which will then be standard shipping. Tried to explain I paid for 2 day shipping. After 20 minutes, I tried canceling the order and have my money returned. Can't do that either. I have to wait until the correct size is delivered and return them. Then another 7-10 days to get my refund. I won't buy here again!

I have purchased several times from this site. I typically have had a good experience. One of the transactions even generated a "gift card." Not thinking Gift Cards would expired, I put the card and receipt into my Sportsmanguide folder. A couple of months later, I was going to make another large purchase. I went to get the gift card and noticed that the card had expired. Upon further review, the card was only valid for two weeks. I called to request some sort of consideration since I have spent several thousands of dollars and have been a customer for almost 3 years. The less than considerate supervisor gave no remorse, was rude, and indicated that they have customers who regullarly spend this sort of money and no further consideration would be given. If it was a day or two, she would reconsider, but since it has been a couple months, no consideration would be given. Overall terrible customer service and will ensure I never spend another dollar at this site again.

Prices would be ok if postage and handling were reasonable. Sized are often way off. This company made sense when there was lots of NATO products for sale.

Now I remember!
December 27, 2022

Now I remember why I never order from Sportsmans Guide! So went to order a small wood stove. Shipping said $14.99. Used a $20 off coupon. Then finished my check out. I never saw the total for the order until I finished my purchase. The shipping jumped to $24.99 with a $2.99 fuel surcharge. Then tax was added Then tax of $2.99 was added for shipping? And finally just to make sure they get all they can out of you.99 for purchase protection. I called and canceled the order. I will never order from them again! Went to Amazon cost more initially and tax again was added but with free shipping. In the end I saved $5.00 over purchasing from Sportsmans Guide.

I ordered something a month ago. I do not have it yet. When I called today I was told that I had told them that I was missing something else and the process would have to start over.

I will be dead a year before I ever even THINK of ordering from these clowns again!

Vomit like service
June 22, 2016

Tried to order a fishing pole combo. Didn't hear anything from the company for 5 DAYS after I placed my order(and sending emails that were unreturned) and then they told me it was back ordered. So I proptly cancelled. The communication between the customer service dept and the shipping is straight up horse$#*!, and the customer ends up getting $#*! on the most. Horrible company, horrible service, absolutely stay away from this deceptive business.

Sportsman's gouge
October 14, 2022

Sportsman's gouge. I am still wondering why i tried them again. Moth to an enticing flame with amnesia of the last misadventure i'd had with them. It took forever to get the detailed invoice will all charges itemized; after you order is is not online, but a paper copt is in the box. Inspect your online order carefully should you, in a weak moment be tempted to do biz with these pirates. There were two line items that made no sense: a california shipping tax and a fuel surcharge. California has no such tax and i called the the shipper, fedex and they had no fuel sucharges. And unless you uncheck the box, they will charge a buck for shipping insurance. Against what? Their own incompetence? Sheesh. They are liars, cheats and fraudsters! Do not support them! Stay away!

I purchased one of these. When they went to charge me shipping would have been about 50% of the cost of the coin collection. Upon inspecting the coins I found the hardest one to find the 1918 VDB was not one at all. It was a plane 1918. They couldn't have even said it was a worn out date. As using a very powerful jewlers glass I could tell that. The company that sells these to Sportsmans Guide is ripping them off. To there credit after a great deal of fuss they did drop the shipping. Now I'm suppose to spend $5.00 to ship it back. Maybe some people are stupid but this product is a total rip off no matter how you buy it or return it. Stay away from purchasing any kind of coins from them.

I purchased 2 ladderstands from this site. The stands were not quality stands-they bent and the metal ladder frames cracked during installation. The nuts stripped. They were too dangerous to use as we learned after building them. The stands couldn't even be taken apart. They insisted I take apart the stands and return them despite the fact that the nuts had all stripped. They told me to hacksaw them but they needed all the pieces back. Under the circumstances I felt it was unreasonable. I could take pictures or send them parts but it's too much work to hacksaw 22 ft treestands so they fit into a box to get my money back.In my opinion they shouldn't sell such junk. I bet Cabelas or Bass Pro would've handled this better.

Worst customer service. They hire left wing teens that are against gun sales as customer representatives... I'm not kidding. They sabotage sales and gladly receive their paycheck.

Ordered ammo on their website and had to buy into the Buyer's Club just to get competitive pricing. On further review I found many instances where the Buyer's Club pricing was not as competitive as say Midway USA on almost everything, and Midway doesn't sell you on a program in order to get better pricing. In addition, when I found something I wanted on SG's website it was never in my size. Since my ammo was backordered I called and cancel everything, including the Buyer's Club

I have been ordering from Sportsmans Guide for several years now. I the primary reason was their low pricing for good products. The only complaints I've had to date would slow shipping and poor communications.
But they went from minor annoyance to "never see another $ from me".
After spending a half hour on the phone with sales and sleeping on my decision I purchased a Bond Arms Snake Slayer pistol on line from SG. Never once during the conversation with sales was I told that it could not be purchased for use in California, even though the salesperson knew that's where I lived.
When filling out all of the purchase info fora firearm I had to select an authorized vendor in the area to have it shipped to. Again, no red flags were raised. SG shipped, the vendor returnedwithout any communications with me. I first contacted SG to ask about my purchase only to find out it had delivered 5 days earlier. They suggested I contact the vendor which I'd and found out about the return along with a quote " we have to return about 90 percent of the firearms from SG for the same reason".
Time for a chat with customer service. "It's not our problem. You should be aware of laws in your state and if you read the website information, that is successfully buried several clicks deep, you would know. Oh, there's also a 15 percent restock charge".
To summarize, SG sold me nothing and pocketed $60+ for my trouble.

Wrong gun shipped.
February 26, 2016

I ordered a. 357 mag from them and tracked the shipping of it to my ffl. The day after the gun was delivered I called my ffl as I thought he would have already called me to tell me that my gun was in. He stated that he did receive a gun from them but it was not addressed to me nor was it the gun I ordered. I immediately called them to inquire about my order. They admitted that they had indeed shipped the incorrect gun, but would not ship my gun or refund my money until they received their gun back. A week later after many phone calls and emails inquiring on the status of the order they had yet to even contact my ffl to arrange shipment of the incorrect gun back to them. I was told by Sportsman's Guide that I would receive a refund for my gun within 7 business day of them receiving the incorrect gun back as the gun that I ordered was now out of stock, but they have yet to have the incorrect gun picked up. I have been a discount club member for three years, but as of today they have forever lost my business. I will pay twice the price for the same item with a company that I trust before I will ever give them another dime.
