I ordered summer pants after I got their catalogue. The site said they would not be available until August 29. Seriously? Who needs summer pants after August 29. Their excuse was that the catalogue is printed months before the items become available. What does that have to do with anything? Don't print what you don't have or expect to have in a timely manner. Dealing with their customer service from the Philippines is an exercise in frustration. Barely comprehensible.
Also, quality of their items has seriously declined.
I waited months for an item that I ordered. I eventually received an email stating they couldn't deliver it. I asked for a substantial discount to be used on a future order to make up for the inconvenience. The customer service representative only offered me 10%. Not even free shipping. They send me emails at least once a month offering 30,40, sometimes even 50% off. When I insisted they could do better than 10% she just blew me off with "Sorry, no." The long wait and then the customer service experience left me with a negative feelings toward Soft Surroundings.
Blouse fabric was very rough - poor quality. If you purchase and need to return, do not use their prepaid address label since they charge way more than the post office would charge. They don not refund quickly, and they shorted me. 63 on the refund. I won't be ordering from them again.
I impatiently weighted for Soft Surroundings to come to my town. When they finally opened their store, it was a BIG disappointment. The material of clothes is very cheap. Their clothes are cut for one type of body build only-- tall, slim, long necked women. Even their petite sizes fall in the above category. Their clothes are worse than Macy's maybe at the level of JC Penney. I went there many times with the hope to like and buy something. Never found anything that would fit me. I do my shopping at Anthropologie and they have clothes for literally every body. I was hoping Soft Surroundings would be a less expensive version of Anthropologie. What a disappointment... I better spend 2X more in stores that offer quality that buying the trash that this store offers. Ah, another thing is that they offer exactly the same items multiple seasons. It is really strange.
My last order included two expensive tops, both of which are made with poor quality fabric. The worst one has been worn three times and and has to be thrown away because the fabric has a lot of pilling. It has been laundered wrong side out on the gentle cycle and laid flat to dry.
This is a terrible company. I started to try to place an order on Black Friday but could not manage to get the advertise price for my on line order. I called Customer Service who also did not understand how to fix the obvious problem. They promised I would get a call back within 24 hours. No call back. The problem still existed Cyber Monday so I called the main office. A nice woman was able to get me the advertised price. However, almost two weeks later the clothes have still not arrived. I called again and was told my order would not be delivered for several more days. This was a real problem for me as I would be out of town for almost a week when it is now scheduled for delivery and the package would be sitting on my doorstep. I was told to go to the post office and put a hold on my mail! I will never order from them again; they are more trouble than they are worth.
I wish I had read the reviews BEFORE I ordered. Lovely clothing if you ever receive it. I wanted a dress for a wedding, but the couple is back from their honeymoon and no dress or other tops I ordered have arrived. Don't know why they waste money sending out their catalogue if they do not have the merchandise. I will not order again.
I placed a phone order. Several mistakes were made with this order. Worse than this was the response I received from 2 different customer service representatives who were rude and more concerned about excusing and defending their mistakes and poor service than with making me a satisfied customer. I will never make a purchase again even though I like the clothing. It is not worth it and this company does not deserve my business.

Ordered had a rip in the top sheet and they did exchange it with no problem. I washed the sheets before we used them, as most people would do? And my husband and I hated the feel of them. Too hot and would not stay in place
On the bed. Well guess what, I should have read the return policy first, they will not refund money for any "laundered" items. Lesson learned!
I placed an order on May 29. Paid $9 for shipping that took 2 weeks. I was on vacation when the order finally arrived (clothes were supposed to be for my trip). When I tried on the clothes the fit was terrible. The pants were tiny in the waist and huge on the hips. The size S shirts were huge.
So I returned the entire order. They received the return on July 8. Paid another $8 in shipping for the return. Today is July 27. I still have no credit. I didn't even get a confirmation of the return. Thank goodness I saved the tracking info.
Not to mention I called CS twice and not only were they not helpful, but their attitude was basically tough $hit. It's like they think they're selling gold bars or diamonds.
So over 2 months and still pending. Had to file a dispute with PayPal to get my refund. Save your money and shop at Nordstrom, JCrew, Amazon or any other legit retailer that offers free fast shipping and halfway decent customer service.

This is ridiculous sent completely wrong product totally different color than advertised if I could rate 0 I would no managers EVER available for complaints rude reps and no response to several emails... Catalog sent to me with price for item "$20 dollars off" - $78.95 instead of $98.95. Try to order it for that price - not possible. Cal company, give them catalog code - tell them I am LOOKING at the price in the catalog. They tell me - it's $98.95.
Very avant garde women's clothing. You'll either like it or not. I happen to like their very different type clothing that you won't see coming or going. Wish they had a store nearby so I wouldn't always be taking a chance on liking a particular item (or size, or color) which, of course, limits you when shopping online.
I ordered a blouse with a $20 discount coupon and was charged $78.58 after the discount had been applied. This total included tax and shipping. After exchanging it once at no cost and then returning it because of size and quality, my refund was only $56.20 with the explanation that there was no refund on their $11.95 original shipping cost and I had to pay the $6.95 return shipping cost as well. This policy, in light of all the free shipping (at least one way) that is available will make me never use this company again. I find this abhorrent.
I am a petite person so my wedding dress is a bit long but nothing a pair of very high wedges won't fix. They are quick with their orders and the quality is very good. Sometimes a little expensive but "Good is good" so I have no complaints.
Soft Surroundings' on-line returns and customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I bought a dress on sale. I wore it only once and washed only once according to the manufacturer's instructions. Upon close inspection after washing, I found a frayed place on the sleeve. When I contacted their customer service I was told I could not return it or get a refund because I had washed it. They offered to give me a $25 discount or a $22 price adjustment. Really?
Their customer service said their number one goal is to make sure that I are thrilled with my purchase from Soft Surroundings citing their "gracious 365 day return policy", however couldn't offer it to me because I had washed the garment. Really? Like another dissatisfied reviewer, Beverly H on 1/14/17 said, "customer service is nonexistent."
I would advise not wasting your time or money purchasing anything from this company.
I called to inquire if the items were in stock and to place catalogue order. The store associate, Jane, (Market Street, Lynnfield, MA) has written down the item numbers and promised to let me know if they have the items, then she put me on hold (~20-25 minutes) never to return. When I called back, another store associate told me that she will not be able to help me, since she was busy. Very poor service and work ethics.
Received my %100 cotton dress twisted in a braid! When I complained to the company they offered me $3 back on a $100 dress! Said I could use a warm iron on it! The point was I would not need to iron it if it wasn't sent looking like a pretzel! This company is over priced and shameful! I will never order from them again!
I ordered something to wear at the holidays on November 4th. I needed it by 12/15. The item was on backorder but could have gotten here on time except that they were dishonest about the shipping information. They said that it shipped on the 11th with 3-5 day shipping (I think it should have been overnight shipping based on the backorder) The truth, according to FedEx is that it did not ship until the 14th and will not arrive until the 18th. Really bad customer service. Will throw their catalogs in the trash going forward.
First time I ordered was in Aug. & after completing the order I found out I had to wait 24 hrs. Before finding out that it would not ship until Dec., so I canceled. I should have learned as I ordered again & it still has not been delivered. I will never order from this store again as customer service is of no help.
Answer: I would have said, forget it. Their service is very slow, both receiving and especially returning. Plus the shipping to you is high and then you pay a terrible amount to return it. I won't buy from them again. Linda.
