Smart fares is a pretty good travel site so far I have booked with them twice as they had the lowest prices. The first flight reservation was perfect. The second reservation ran into a hiccup when I checked out I noticed an extra $100 charge for seat selection which was not clearly stated that there would be a charge for or how much that charge would be. I called customer service and they gave me an email address to request a refund and I called back to verify just to make sure I wrote it down correctly and the customer service rep hung up on me as soon as I told him what I was calling for, to verify the email address for a refund. I called back and got another agent who verified the email for me and then proceeded to hang up on me as well. I emailed asking for a refund and they responded the next morning and said it would take 3-5 business days for a refund so we will see. Overall assuming I get my refund it is a good site with cheap fares. But be careful because most of the items like travel insurance, bag insurance, ticket change capabilities, have prices and you know that there is a charge but the seat selection part had no pricing or anything to let you know that you will be charged. I'll use smart fares again but with caution.

Booking was done through aviasales using service of SmartFares, paid straight away. Confirmation for the booking came in a while and seem to be ok, on the site of the flight company the booking was seen as well, so looks ok at the beginning. Then when i tried to check in online it showed that booking is not available and flight was like next day. Reached support of the flight company and they said that the ticket was booked but company didnt confirm it and pay for it thus they cancelled it. From my end everything was done, so I reached support of SmartFares and the agent told me that yes due to the abcense of the fare which i paid for on the site i have to pay extra 250 (ticket was around same cost) on top of what was paid already to get on the plain. Same time i was checking the fares on the Emirates - the company which i was supposed to fly and same fare was available during whole period of my fight with the SmartFares. So I asked to cancel the ticket than as they didnt provide any service and trying to get me pay twice for nothing and not giving any guarantees - they said that based on the cancelation policy the refund sum will be less and not in full due to fee, question what fee as service havent been provided at all. So nothing done so far. It is a scammer service and already write to Aviasales to open the investigation and prevent such cases in future with other travelers.

Customer Service Representatives are very unprofessional. I was hung up on twice and was spoken to rudely. I called once and heard a conversation in the background for at least a minute or two before the representative even acknowledged me being on the phone.

The next day you will receive an email to call them immediately because they were unable to confirm your flight. When you call them back, they will try to sell you another flight at a much higher price. SCAM SCAM AVOID!

Answer: Yes. They stated because of flight increase they canceled my flights. Then they wanted me to pay a balance of what the new increase was. So disappointing. I paid for four fares. They took the funds from the bank n then canceled my flights.
