Return policy
April 13, 2017

I have been a fan of Sierra for a while... I have had reasonably good luck with products. I have had a few instances of sole of shoes not being assembled or glued properly... they have always respon def and resolved my concerns... no matter how old products were. I bought a pair of HI tec ladies hiking boots for my girlfriend used less than a dozen times over the years. The cleats attached to sole of shoe just started peeling off. The shoes look like almost new. I contacted STP as I have when I had issue prior to this and was told they could do nothing. Their return policy has changed. So unless you are going to wear something within 90 days of purchase, day I and day out...
Be aware they will not accept a return even if clearly defective. I will have to look elsewhere to find similar products with a better policy for defective items.

My wife and I have purchased thousands of dollars of clothing and other goods from STP over the past 10 years. We got some great deals with 30-50% off coupons via email and always would look at STP before we made virtually any purchase. Now, all we see if free shipping coupons! We don't even bother looking at this site anymore.

What happened to STP
March 29, 2017

Used to love STP and then all of a sudden no good sales and no reason to shop there, go back to the way you were, you have lost a customer that has been with you for years and spent thousands, I guess this is another buyout failure.

STP used to be a great source for well-discounted quality items. There were generous 35% off coupons and free shipping. The changes have been insidious. First, the coupons were cut back to 25% and then to "up to 25%," which, as far as I can tell, often means no discounts at all. The selection of items is diminished. The "deals" at STP on things I am interested in can often be beaten elsewhere -- at places with more reasonable shipping and return policies.

To top it off, I got an email the other day from STP's parent TJMaxx -- free shipping. I think it's safe to say that I have no interest in anything that TJMAxx sells and that probably goes for a lot of STP customers.

Goodbye, STP. It was great while it lasted.

I have spent many many thousands@ STP over the years, ordering everything from clothes, shoes, camping, exercise gear, kitchenware, bedding, towels, furniture, rugs, pet supplies, the list goes on. I haven't ordered for almost a year, this was the first holiday season I didn't order from STP. Their prices have increased, sales are non existent and the quality and variety of merchandise has plummeted drastically the past two years. Their return policy is no longer what it was. STP is no longer the great company I knew for over 25 years, corporate killed it. I no longer am a customer.

So bummed...
February 7, 2017

Like many here I am bummed that STP has fallen like it has. Have shopped with them since the get go for the majority of my clothing, footwear, and backcountry gear without fail. Now the prices are no better then elsewhere online and the deal flyers we all like are gone. Living in AK is expensive and STP was my go to for both myself and my wife. Now the only offered deals with "free shipping" don't even apply to AK. Will now go elsewhere.

Going downhill
January 31, 2017

I was once one of STP top customers, by that I mean that I spent that much money. It was my first and really my only site that I purchased anything from. On vacations I would stop at their brick and mortar stores because I liked them that much. Now all that is gone. Prices are higher, stock is thinner, sales and coupons never hit my inbox anymore. Corporate America has taken over. It was a good run while it lasted, time to look elsewhere. Good luck and good by!

Twenty Year Customer
January 22, 2017

As many other have said, what happened to Sierra Trading Post?! After the sale of STP things stayed fairly much the same with the long time customer service reps that had been there for years. Deals were fun to find, with the hidden codes and good Dealfliers. Well. Years now and they have become just another big corporate run company. STP was always the first place I would look for clothing, now, it's Amazon or other online stores. Sad to see you change, but I no longer look for your email fliers. Good bye old friends!

STP fell off the map
January 19, 2017

I used to look daily at the deals they offered. I have purchased many items from the site over the past 3 or 4 years. Sadly since they were acquired by TJ maxx, the site has become hard to visit. Like most of the box stores, there are 75% womens clothing and 25% mens. For men they carry very limited stock and supply of the various brands I've learned to love through the site earlier on. Unfortunately, this has turned into a fitness gear site, like most of the box stores are. My perception may be off, but I have not bought a single thing since the transition. Deals have pretty much gone away and the extra discounts are rarely offered anymore. I hate to say I will no longer spend my money here.

Very disappointed.
January 15, 2017

We live on a remote island in WA state and have bought everything from kayaks to cooking pans from STP. We've spent thousands of dollars through the years at STP. We did not realize what had happened to the company (i. E. T. J. Max taking over). We have just not been buying anything from them lately and realized that the deals just weren't showing up like before. Really sad to hear they're just another big business not taking care of the customer. Big bummer. We won't be ordering from STP anymore.

Best days behind them
January 1, 2017

As others relayed, a gem of a site that was stripped of its best qualities by new owners. I was once so predictably loyal all my relatives knew an STP gift certificate was the only thing needed come bdays and holidays, but no longer. Luckily other sites like Amazon Groupon, overstock, & 6pm have taken up the slack.

NOT THE SAME COMPANY
December 8, 2016

Like others have said, things are now different at STP after being acquired by TJMaxx. I used to shop the site constantly and visit the Reno store occasionally and customer service through either method was excellent. Shopping online used to take time to be sure that you were buying a good product at a good price but now prices are higher and some of the premium brands are gone entirely or have so little inventory that you are highly unlikely to find anything. After checking several times for favorite brands with no luck, it's no longer worth spending the time to even look. I am very sad about losing the old Sierra Trading Post. RIP STP...

Their offers by mail can be excellent. Problem is sorting through them and finding the best item. Their emails are constant and you have to sign up for them to get the best prices. Horrible place to get shoes. I've lost so much money just trying shoes I thought would work. They have a very nice brand called Naot which they sometimes have some great deals on. Sometimes prices can be ok, but better items can be found on the Rei outlet online.

Not What They Used To Be
November 7, 2016

I agree with everyone's assessment of STP after TJ Maxx purchased them. They used to have really good pricing via their coupon codes and a eclectic mix of products but now it's just TJ Maxx but online. I used to look at flashlights and knives for one thing but that has dwindled down to cheap knives and crappy headlamps. Unless there is a 180, I am peace outing from STP.

If you are willing to get their coupons via email, they can save you a considerable amount on outdoor cloths and other sporty-like items.

This was my go to site for things but they are carrying cheaper products and charging more, no longer a discount site, should just change their name to TJ max. Shopped here for years not really much anymore.

A year or two ago I would be singing their praises, but now with sharper prices (code for fewer discounts so you will actually pay more) and bogus free shipping (free shipping is code for you better buy a sh! T ton of stuff or you will pay the hefty shipping charges) I find that I can do pretty well at Macys if I really watch the sales. The attraction to STP was really free shipping with great discounts- like 35 to 40% but those are gone, gone, gone, and mostly so am I... I get the deal flyer emails and it really irks me to see free shipping with a discount percentage then open the email to find out that I have to spend 100$ to get it, or occasionally 50$. But the worst is the email that says save up to 80% on clearance and then find out that I am being nailed for shipping and the discount is not really 80%, but any little percentage up to that 80%. And the stuff with the huge discount is in obscure sizes that only the periphery of mankind can even wear. Its just not the same and everytime I open up a dealflyer email and click through to the site, thinking "ok, there muyst be something in here that I can't live without", I click out feeling mislead and disappointed. But the biggest insult is the return shipping. If they make a mistake and list the specs for a product wrong and you buy it based on the info that is in the listing, and its wrong, tough noogies, you are eating that return shipping charge, as well as the charge you may have paid to get your wrong stuff in the first place. C'mon STP, don't be this way, its not nice and makes me run to Macys and Amazon... where a deal is a deal and shipping is not an insult.

Have been a loyal customer of Sierra Trading Post for the past several years, but since their buyout from the TJ Maxx family of stores, it's not what it used to be. No more 40% discounts specials and very few if any 30 or 35% discounts. Most discounts now are 25% percent, only if you buy $100+ of merchandise. Also they do not seem to have the selection of children's clothing and shoes they used. I just don't find myself wanting to shop there as much anymore. I do find some good prices, but don't like having to always buy $100+ in order to get the additional 25% off. The're customer service has always been helpful.
