DISHONEST BEHAVIOR
January 19, 2020

Want to know if these reviews are REAL? I have:
Paid for items and received someone else's merchandise
Paid for items and have received them with little or no secure packaging (tiny items were falling out of the box just by being CARRIED to deliver).
Paid for items and didn't receive them for over 1-2 weeks on a REGULAR basis
Paid for items that were shipped to another buyer of a different item
Paid for items that were received so badly broken, it produced cuts and blood upon opening
Paid for items that were more than $100 and no insurance or delivery proof was provided. Item never received but charged. Waited weeks and weeks to get the item or a refund, finally got a credit after over a month.
Paid for items with inflated shipping weight AND/OR multiple items that were not able to be combined for no valid reason
Paid for items that were damaged after purchasing, meaning received item that was not in the same condition as photos presented
Witnessed one store in particular who overcharges on every single thing (high start price, high buy it now price, high ship weight, AND high ship cost
Seen many items priced at OVER retail or competitor price for same or less value- meaning you can buy it NEW for less or USED for less on auction site
Been very forgiving for all of this until multiple items were supposedly lost. Things happen, BUT they were then relisted less than two weeks later. All "lost" items had final bids of less than $20- coincidence? Doubtful. Many people have had the same thing happen. There is no recourse, no way to leave feedback, and no way to report the fraudulent behavior. Nor do I think they care and I wonder if this is actually encouraged on a large scale. Some employees and stored are wonderful. Some are horrible. But randomly issuing refunds for "inventory lost" and then turning around and trying to sell it days or weeks later to try to get a higher price from someone else is dishonesty.
And yes, I have proof of all of this. Something needs to happen because it seems these issues are wide and varied with shopgoodwill.com
It is ridiculous that this exists, and even more disgusting that it is at the hands of a charity.

Too many times now I have bought jewelry to find out the 18k piece of jewelry is not 18k on all pieces. Or is completely fraudulent.

Scammers
February 25, 2020

Goodwill doesn't honor low bids on expensive items. They'll "lose" it and cancel the sale. Scammers.

Waste of time. Shipping is too much more than the item itself. Over priced per usual now. Won't be back.

Recently consulted with legal council. Seems shopgoodwill.com engages in illegal online bidding practices which are programmed into site tech.

First I ordered a composite compound bow with arrows it, when I got package the bow was a toy. Yes a cheap plastic toy like your child would shoot a sucktion cup arrow with. In ad said composite also at end of descrition said hunters using a bow would be proud to use this bow. Ha. Called paypal fixed in two days and they canceled my acount but only with that store I think. Today another package arrived item cost me 50$ plus shipping came in a plastic container it it not all glass but has glass did not break BUT has BUGS dead but look like bed bugs ooooooo how gross. I just finished cleaning but will clean again gross. These people saw the bugs in there and dident even take outside to dump these little bugs they were black size of unground pepper there were maybe 50 of them and spider webs all over 50$. Havent tested electric but not promising. Id give my phone # and email so you could verify me but no. But Im telling the truth and dont lie. Over the 3 years using goodwill most things were ok lots of electronics did not work and I just took the hit but a toy then bugs no way. They have gone way down hill the last year or so. And even worse since new site. Oh and reson I got paypal in on toy problem was they dident even answer my complaint and after paypal they were pissed.

I have shopped is goodwill stores for 25+ years, and have found amazing deals. And it has always been what thrifting is about, decent prices for used items. And when shopgoodwill.com came out, I was on board. However, the shipping has gotten ridiculous, and its easy to buy a $10 item, and have it cost $25 by the time you include shipping AND handling. On top of this, I have been told by district managers of goodwill, that they are REQUIRED to put items of higher value on the auction site, and are not supposed to put them on the sales floor. They are trying to maximize profit from these donations, which I get. So, the chances of finding a decently priced used item in a physical store will become less and less, as more stores start putting things on the website. When it comes to anything valuable, I would rather use ebay, where I know I can be reimbursed if the item arrives broken, and the seller will be held responsible if they misrepresent the item. Not to mention the fact that goodwill stores have dedicated people to look the item up on OTHER auction sites before listing. They usually don't bother to check the SOLD price, just what people have it listed for. Which is why you can find copies of common $2-$5 NES games listed at $20 plus shipping and handling on shopgoodwill.com.

Just an example. I bought what I thought was a PS2 backwards compatible PS3(the one with 4 USB ports and card readers) on shopgoodwill.com. And payed pretty good money for it since they are becoming rare. But once it arrived, it was just a normal PS3(2 USB ports and no card readers). Well, it turns out the person listing the item was being lazy and recycling pictures. They didn't know that there was different versions of the PS3. Several people bid on this item based on the pictures, while assuming thats what we would be buying. And when I brought this up to the store via a help ticket, I was told "sorry, we will try better next time".

I have spent quite a bit of money on Goodwill.com in the past few months. I got a few good deals but I also have received a lot of items with undisclosed damage (a high rate of this like 20-30%). Sometimes they will reimburse significantly if you keep the item, other times for significant damage they offer you something paltry. 60-80% of the time (IF they agree with you and only if) they offer a return and provide a label. But it's a hassle to do this and wait for your money back... especially when a lot of their shipping takes forever. You spend the time taking pictures, contacting them, printing out your own label, etc.

I also have gotten a few items that really weren't worth the price. It's difficult to tell the quality with tiny pictures and minimal descriptions. No one else selling on the internet would get away with this. I agree with other posters and have said this many times... what are they training these people to do? Sometimes, like in their stores, they also have an attitude.

Currently, I have contacted them 4 times over 2-3 weeks about one item that was described in excellent condition only to get it and find a major piece broken of of it. I bought another item a couple of months ago that was supposedly a metal sculpture, nope it was ceramic. A green jacket that was really brown. A pair of lamps with bent light sockets (they told me I could just fix them and then wouldn't respond further).

The real kicker was when they had a needlepoint in the Antique section and claimed it was 100 yrs old. Fortunately, I was outbid on it when I realized it wasn't. But I wrote them and provided and example of someone selling the same thing, telling them this was not an antique. They did not stop the auction so I assume someone got stuck with it.

Total Scam-
January 2, 2020

I am a camera reseller- I buy old cameras, fix them and then resell them. I used to buy from GW online auctions for over a year before I finally had enough of there overpriced junk, manipulated pricing, and severely awful or non-existent customer service. Yes- shipping and handling fees are astronomical and worse that they vary from region to region. And they are always overpriced and shipping overweight. Interesting enough- you won't find cameras actually in a local stores anymore- the local stores do not know how to price vintage cameras. So the local stores ship the cameras to regional warehouses and then starting bids are priced higher for online auction only. But the bidding is the key to the scam- bids on cameras are almost always higher or exactly the same as ebay prices for the same item- except ebay guarantees returns and bidders are not 100% anonymous- Goodwill does not! Why would anyone buy a 30 year old camera at a premium price- higher than ebay- and with no guarantee? 90% of the cameras I bought were broken or needing some repair. So why buy here? I followed certain brands over a year-like the Canon AE-1 -it ALWAYS sells for $86-$91 and they sell like 10 a day. How is that possible? An Olympus OM2 with a few worthless accessories just sold for $100- $4 handling fee and to me would have been $18 shipping. On ebay there is the same exact camera (tested and guaranteed) with 4 lenses for $35--no handling fee and $7.85 shipping! Today there is a Leicaflex camera just listed -and with in minutes 5 anonymous bidders have it already priced it at $353. I just sold 2 Leicaflex's in mint condition on ebay for $325- and it took me over a year to sell them! IT IS AS BAD AS ANY NEGATIVE REVIEW ON HERE! But I will say this- if you want to win on GW Online auction- you only have to bid $1 more than GW price fixer.

Terrible
May 31, 2020

DO NOT RECOMMEND! They could careless about your the customer service on this site is absolutely atrocious! I spend close to $1000 a WEEK on their website and have always paid my bids on time! Until last week my child got ahold of my phone and won a bid on a TEN DOLLAR item! I quickly contacted the seller trying to get that bid deleted before the auction was over so I didn't screw up their potential sale but they didn't get back to me til days later! Not to mention they could care LESS what you've got going on in your life or about their customers AT ALL! I've seen others receive one time removal courtesies for accidental bids... I contacted the seller but because I sent them multiple messages in a row they wanted to punish me and tell me I'm pretty much screwed! So I emailed corporate, they couldn't careless either! How can a company that works strictly off DONATIONS be absolutely SO money hungry they can't release you from ONE MESS UP! When this happened I had NINE items in my orders that I had JUST PAID FOR! Do you care at ALL about what your customers actually think?!

My information in case you decide to develop some compassion...
