We have been buying over $2K per month worth of product from multiple Shopgoodwill stores listed on their AUCTION site. The new auction site that replaced the old site at the end of August 2017 SUCKS BIG TIME. The auction times are off, the auction ends when the system shows the auction is still running.

Other issues - We see the same 2 bidder name out bidding us like before, then the items reappear for auction again and the high priced shipping fees

BUT their new website is total TRASH and nowhere near being easy to use. Goodwill you need to fire whoever sold you folks this piece of junk website, bring back the old website until you can get the new one fixed.

Unless you're OK with losing $2K per month - Then all is well - Would love to support you, but not with this worthless new website.

I was ordering a lot of jewelry on shopgoodwill but finally got sick of the exhorbitant shipping and handling charges. I now shop local estate sales, flea markets and other online sites that don't overcharge. I will never but from them again because of shipping and handling. I resell on ebay and I KNOW what the shipping should costs!

Wrong sizes
September 10, 2017

Please, somebody give these people a measuring tape! I bought numerous pieces of jewelry- especially sterling silver -where they were off 2-3 inches off. Licking/Knox Goodwill Industries had the same jewelry posted 5-6 times ( new items I suppose). After I received mine, I told them they need to adjust the rest of postings because the necklaces were 3 inches shorter than what they were claiming. They did not even bother make the changes. Other buyers were intentionally cheated the same way I was. When they have the absurd no return policy and exorbitant shipping prices they should be more attentive with the items description. I hope their higher management read these reviews and do something about all these complaints.

Watch the weight limits
September 5, 2017

Ordered a bunch of stuff from one store so that I could combine the shipping. After buying about 6 lots of stuff, the checkout page refuses to combine the lots since the total weight is over 20lbs. Are you kidding me? 20lbs? I checked everywhere, it doesnt mention the 20lb limit in the FAQs, the shipping page, nowhere. Only AFTER you bought stuff.

Instead of paying a nice $30-$40 for shipping, I have to pay $20 for EACH lot, or $120 for shipping. I offered to send them a pre-paid label for UPS if they tossed it all into one box... I got the most generic response ever back from them... they didnt even take time to read the message and just gave a copy/paste answer that is sent to everyone with "shipping questions" and closed the ticket and called it a day.

I am literately offering to pay for UPS to pick up the item, pay shipping and pay for the items. I got told no. Well. Dont expect me to pay for this stuff! I am not paying $120 to ship $50 worth of stuff.

If you are going to put a dump 20lb weight limit into effect, make sure people know there is such a limit! Instead, people are going to assume a 50 or 70 lb limit.

Also, you get broken junk all the time. Test and works still means it is broken. Bought an xbox 360 that "tested, works, turns on!" and it was red ring of death..

Overunsimplified!
September 3, 2017

Holy crap! This site is terrible now. It is extremely user unfriendly. Bring back the old shopgoodwill. I have a feeling Goodwill did not upgrade their server size and added this albatross of a program. Very laggy! Don't let them scam you on shipping charges. They are notorious for charging 5 times more than necessary to ship.

I would like to know why North Florida Goodwill wants to keep stuff you've paid for for as long as possible. If I'm expected to pay within the stated 7 day time, and I pay as soon as I've won then they can ship within 5 days of payment as stated! If you are going to post rules then YOU must follow them too! A shipping number means NOTHING when you still have the item. The last item I bought took over 2 weeks to ship out and now my KitchenAid mixer is still there! 2 days of being given a tracking number and it still says ups awaiting item. I contacted them and they actually told me they would give me a tracking number when it shipped. You GAVE me a tracking number, it's been 10 days since I paid and UPS doesn't have it yet.

First I ordered a composite compound bow with arrows it, when I got package the bow was a toy. Yes a cheap plastic toy like your child would shoot a sucktion cup arrow with. In ad said composite also at end of descrition said hunters using a bow would be proud to use this bow. Ha. Called paypal fixed in two days and they canceled my acount but only with that store I think. Today another package arrived item cost me 50$ plus shipping came in a plastic container it it not all glass but has glass did not break BUT has BUGS dead but look like bed bugs ooooooo how gross. I just finished cleaning but will clean again gross. These people saw the bugs in there and dident even take outside to dump these little bugs they were black size of unground pepper there were maybe 50 of them and spider webs all over 50$. Havent tested electric but not promising. Id give my phone # and email so you could verify me but no. But Im telling the truth and dont lie. Over the 3 years using goodwill most things were ok lots of electronics did not work and I just took the hit but a toy then bugs no way. They have gone way down hill the last year or so. And even worse since new site. Oh and reson I got paypal in on toy problem was they dident even answer my complaint and after paypal they were pissed.

I've purchased tons, and tons of things from Goodwill. Jewelry is hard figure out before bidding since they do magnify pieces. Honestly, that's so we can see it better. I got some awful diamond stud earrings. They were listed as cloudy, and I could have lived with that, but they were actually black from so much carbon. Didn't even look like diamonds. Then, I got a projector that was tested as powering on... and it did, but it faded out within 15 minutes. It was burning up a lens as I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't project. That was a pretty expensive worthless purchase for me! But... 95 percent of the things I've gotten were great deals. I bought 6 pairs of diamond stud earrings, and only got burned on one pair. I buy 14k gold jewelry too, and I've gotten some deals on those pieces. Sometimes you get really lucky, and things slip by jewelry pros. I got a $300 rope chain for $87, and it came with a 14k ring with no setting. I second guessed myself on that purchase until it was delivered... then I screamed with delight. So, I love www.shopgoodwill.com! Yes, you better watch the shipping charges. Before I allow myself to fall in love with an item, I quickly look at shipping. Lots of times, I just move on after that!

Don't do it!
August 22, 2017

I bid and won on a guitar. Paid $40.00 shipping and they sent me a piece of worthless junk. It is a child guitar with a bowed neck.It is obvious that anyone seeing this knew it was worthless and didn't care. Bottom line is get the money from you."goodwill" is just another rip-off bidding site and all I can hope is that it's true that you reap what you sow because they need to go belly up. And soon!

Third Time Last Time
August 3, 2017

I bid on what was described as a Roku 3 and won. Only when it shipped and I opened the box - for a Roku 3 - did I notice it is a Roku 2. I contacted Customer Service about it, Aug 1st, still no response Aug 3,5:07pm central time. AND this roku 2 does not work! How bout that? This is the 3rd & last item I will purchase from goodwill online. Junk sales items, false advertising and no communication.

It is a Shame
August 3, 2017

The shipping is definitely way overpriced often as much as the piece is worth. When secondhand charities start taking out the valuable thing for online auctions we will soon see store closings starting with the small middle men that used to floor walk shop and resale - then the Charity stores themselves. They are knocking off the little venders between them and the retailer and going for less product shuffling. They are slowly killing their best wholesalers for greed and making it so we as consumers won't waste our time and gas in the storefront which prompts impulse junk purchases. A shooting yourself in the foot deal.

Inconsistent
July 20, 2017

I have purchase many items (a lot of jewelry) from this site. Most are described accurately but occasionally just junk, broken or missing stones that weren't noted.
I am careful to watch the shipping costs as some are outrageous. I have seen less than a pound weight for an incredible amount and I have bought 18 to 20 lbs. of an item that was $6-$8 for shipping. As time goes by they seem to be getting better but all of this is donated. I'm sure everything in good shape ends up on line. Never find anything decent at the local stores and then the prices are ridiculous. Hopefully, they keep working at it. It's for a good cause. On the plus side, the shipping is usually fast and the packaging is great, which says conscientious employees. And, in the stores the employees are always friendly and helpful. So, with all the excess shipping give them a raise.

Most ShopGoodWill sellers are hard-nosed greedy jackasses who now charge what the shipping cost SHOULD BE in their handling fees, not including the excessive shipping and lack of shipping options! They don't give a d**m about buyers -use the most costly shipping methods, usually UPS or FedEx, and rarely USPS which is most reasonable & most reliable!

On top of that, their shipping/handling is not equitable for all items. For example; they charge the same $3-4 or more HANDLING FEE for a tiny pendant (that weighs less than an ounce & could ship USPS First-Class for the cost of a postage stamp) plus $8-10 shipping- and charge the SAME HANDLING FEE for a set of dishes that have to be hand-packed and wrapped individually in a large box with tons of packing and bubble wrap! They will combine the shipping cost for multiple tiny jewelry items... but still get MORE than what the actual cost to ship would be by still making you pay the handling fees for each of the multiple items!

One other thing that is unscrupulous is that since they have no one policing their auctions, many use shills to bid your item up if you bid the full amount way before the auction ends; and on hot items-they just bid you up and up, if they see there's a higher demand for the item. This should not be so... but I know because I've tested this many times. If an item is listed at say $9.99 and I bid $89.00 early, in a day or so they will bid the item up to $87.50 or whatever is the next minimum bid as mine without going over. Goodwill can see what the high bid is at any time- so don't place a high bid up front! This crooked baloney, is like so much that's going on in the world now when you deal with people and businesses who have no moral compass!

Hello, just to let you know that shop goodwill is a way to rip people off, I once bought a fishing rod that was supposed to be in good shape as soon I received it it was all falling apart and I had to pay for shipping to ship it back to them so I spent $48 to receive a refund of $30 even though it was their own fault of stating things about their item that are not true, another time I bought a phone that was unlocked according to their item description but ended up locked when I contacted them they told me that the phone was unlocked at the time of my purchase and than it became locked which is a lame explanation how in earth an unlocked phone locked afterword, and thus they charge a very high shipping fees, for instance you pay around $10 for a tiny MP3 player I hope you get the idea how expensive are their shipping fees, bottom line it is very not recommended to shop on goodwill online because it is a rip off

Yes, the ShopGoodwill online site charges very high shipping. They say it's because of the shape or the size of the item, but I've seen small items that weigh only a few ounces listed with ridiculous prices for shipping. I don't buy anything electronic on the site anymore after getting burned several times. They most times make sure they stipulate that the item is "untested" and that the buyer needs to take that into account when bidding because there are no returns. How much trouble is it to plug something in for 20 seconds to see if it turns on, lights up, gets warm, etc?! In my opinion, they are trying to offload non-working items on unsuspecting buyers. I have also heard that employees go on the site and bid items up so that buyers are forced to outbid them. I have seen items like gift cards being bid up to almost the amount on the card! Who does that? Fur coats that they were gifted with being listed with a beginning price of over $400! A Chanel purse went for over $1200 when you can find them for less than that on eBay. I think people believe that because it's on "Goodwill" that it's going to be a good deal no matter how much they pay for it. I ALWAYS crosscheck every item I want to bid for on Amazon or eBay. MANY times it is not a good deal on ShopGoodwill when you add in the shipping and handling. I'm not saying that there are not good deals to be had on the site, but you have to be savvy and do your homework before and during bidding.

I have bid on and won several good jewelry items but by the time they add on the huge shipping and handling charge it is not a good deal. I was charged over $14 for shipping and handling for a small bubble envelope out of Austin goodwill and I am still waiting for an item from Corpus Christi goodwill to be put in mail after I paid 7 days ago. I think more people would buy if they did not rip you off on the shipping and handling fees.

After payment cleared and waited a week. Reached out to Goodwill Corpus Christi to see if they could update the order with tracking information. The response was rude, at best, the item is shipping out "today" and takes a certain number of days for processing. Turns out, the label was created, but item still has not shipped.

For what it's worth, bought other items from Goodwill of Southern California, and experience was superb. Item was well packed and processed quickly. Item arrived exceed expectations.
