Shapeways created a 3D print for me of a Japanese style Buddha that I modelled in 3DS Max and converted to VDB for complicated booleans in Houdini. The model was then converted back to a poly mesh and was reduced to about 900k polys. I wanted a print just to get a visual feel for the scale before doing a sculpture so I chose their "first available material option" as I wasn't concerned about the quality as much as just getting a comp in my hand to see and feel. They used versatile plastic, I believe its called, and the finished print turned out AMAZING! Just beautiful. No finishing work was needed, amazing detail, no banding, just perfect. So good, in fact, that I'll show it as part of my project. Couldn't be happier, sending a Burmese style Buddha next.
I received some clear headlight that were to be used in a model with LED lights. One light showed up with a cloudy white mass that would not reflect light correctly. A major manufacturing error. They were extremely difficult in refunding a $12.99 part. It took numerous emails back-and-forth and over proving for them to respond to my refund request.
I had the wrong product shipped to me so I contacted customer service to get it figured out. The very next morning I was greeted with a very pleasant email from Mitchell Jetten who was not only very polite but also efficient. I actually received an email letting me know a replacement was already being processed a couple minutes before Mitchell's email. So I'm very pleased with how quickly it was all resolved!
Right from the start I was impressed by their service with target delivery/production dates given and subsequently matched. Delivery was marred by one of the delicate products being damaged as a result of some sort of impact whilst in transit and defeating the protective packaging. However Shapeways were immediately responsive by offering a replacement and the order was then satisfactorily completed.
Very helpful and produce great quality items. Gives great information on how to proceed with your design.
I have worked with Shapeways for numerous orders recently and I have had the pleasure of working with Victoria W. Every time I contact Vicky she is quick to respond and has the answer I need, or knows who to talk to in order to get the answer. I have had no issues with this company. I would highly suggest Shapeways due to their 5 star customer service.
I've ordered and received 4 small detailed art projects from Shapeways. I'm new at 3D printing, and one or two haven't met their requirements. They've coached me through the problems, allowing me to fix and reorder. I get bids from other manufacturers for each project, and Shapeways is usually the cheapest. I've been pleased with the results, and their large selection of materials is presented so that a novice can easily weigh the options..
When we first started working with Shapeways, we didn't have a Lefteri, but then after he became a dedicated account specialist everything became amazing. He is a doll and all of our interactions since have been a total walk in the park and I feel so fortunate every day that Lefteri is my guy!
We (GOTH-3Designs) have been using Shapeways to outsource our 3D printing production and to have an on-demand shop for our customers since 2014.

The good:
- Great customer support, both for our business and our customers.
- Printing quality is very good, and if any issues, the support has always been helpful to replace faulty prints.
- Improved over the years some key aspect like allowing shop owners to correct faulty models without impacting customers orders.
- Great management of our Shop Owner account, our Account Manager is always available and listening to our needs.
The less good:
- For several years we had an Account Manager that was very poor at his job, which caused quite some frustrations (which has been corrected, as mentioned above).
- In 2018 / 2019, Shapeways operated changes in branding and pricing, without the proper change management (late notice of price increase, blurry price calculation making it very difficult for shop owners to design cost effective models,... lack of understanding overall toward the strategy related to shop owners...) it caused a lot of frustration back then but this is now past, and would not affect our current review rating (it can explain bad reviews posted during this period though).
- The Shapeways Marketplace is no longer a center of attention for Shapeways. We have spent a lot of time developing our shop there but we know that this marketplace functionalities will not improve as not a priority for Shapeways. It's not much of an issue for a business, as we can develop our own website with API (and Shapeways is supporting us on the change), but nonetheless a pity for smaller shop owners.
Nobody is perfect and we had our issues with Shapeways like others, but today we are very satisfied. We tried other services but Shapeways remains the best 3D printing service for us as business owner.
I was assigned a homework project to research 3D printing for my 3D class. Knowing very little about the concept, I researched several companies and chose Shapeways because I was impressed with the informational completeness and ease of use of their website. I was impressed with their tutorials which were easy to follow, and for the comprehensive range of available materials for any project. What really sealed the deal for me about Shapeways was that I needed to double check certain information. A bot popped up and the FAQ section was very complete but I still wanted further confirmation. I was directed to customer service and within a short period of time was contacted by an actual person who confirmed the rest of my questions. While I did not have a project at this time to bring from design to completion, Shapeways is definitely the one I would trust to do that.

I work for company focusing on R&D and I need a lot of non-standard parts that require specific attention. Shapeways so for delivered every single time. The parts come out great but their customer service is even better. My best experience was working with Will Magley. He always makes sure all of my non standard parts get the attention they need and is always willing to find a way to help when anything comes up. They have definitely earned our company's business for years to come.
My package was lost in the mail, but the customer service was excellent. I contacted them after I couldn't track it down and they were prompt to respond helping me open an investigation with the post office and when that didn't work quickly got a replacement in the mail for me. Every product I have gotten has been great and I will be continually coming back for more.
As a new customer of Shapeway products, I'm very positively impressed the very informative and timely communication from its Customer Service agent, Adela Zemcova. I look forward to many more purchases in the future! I've bought four 1:87 scale racer models but unfortunately cannot send a proof of purchase photo because I don't have a web cam.
I placed an order with Shapeways and it was lost in the mail. I contacted them and they replaced my order immediately. Awesome customer service.
The quality of the products is very high which is why we have returned to Shapeways time after time. Just as importantly, their customer service is second to none. The agility and flexibility with which Shapeways managed our orders are fantastic. This was particularly evident as we hit problems with deliveries due to circumstances beyond their and our control. Our account manager offered a 5 star service by swiftly finding alternatives and being available at all times to guide us through the process extremely professionally, making us feel that our custom was of utmost importance to the company.
The tracking on my package proved that my order was never delivered. Shapeways was quick to either reprint or refund my money (I asked them to reprint).
I am a silversmith. I do an annual ornament in sterling every fall. When my casting company declined to cast a model in 2019, I was directed to Shapeways by several local jewelers/silversmiths.
The edition that was cast for me in 2019 was perfect. I learned a great deal about the digital design process.The edition was for 150 pieces in sterling. The cost was more than the tradition castings that had been done in years past, but the finishing time was much less.( We hand finish each of the ornaments).
For the 2020 edition the design was slightly smaller to adjust the cost due to silver price increases.
The production was amazing. The detail was perfect. The surface finish was even better than the 2019 edition.
The attention I received from my representative was beyond my expectations. He was prompt in his responses to my questions and the timing was better than promised.
I will continue to trust Shapeways with my designs going forward.
I have been a silver/gold smith for 50 years now and I find the level of professionalism and business ethic of this company to be refreshing, and encouraging.

I got the "Love you always" for Mother's Day last year and "Always with you" from my husband this Christmas and the quality is great and delivery was quicker than stated by a week. They fit perfectly together and as they're slim I can even add more of the collection later. Would highly recommend. Tara
