I got the Serve American Express prepaid debit card to save me a little money in bank fees for when I need to pull money out from Thailand. But it will not let me on the computer website or the app site since I am here. I called them and they said I can do everything by phone. That takes such a long time that this is a terrible card to use if you cannot get on to their website and check things out and transfer money. It is useless to me cause it will take so much time to always call them and do things they should have a secure website to go to. It must show that they could be a cheap company and don't have good firewalls. I will be pulling my money out and cancelling my cards. Please read other reviews on other websites this is not the card to use in my opinion. I usually read reviews one time I didn't and this is what I've had to go through. Read reviews please.

BEWARE!

Terrible operation. Wayyyyy too many fees... You CAN get ACH deopsits but CANNOT use money wallet with any merchants although there is an account and routing number associated with the card account. Customer service will hang up on you if they cannot resolve an issue. They give false information.

Overall -******* stars. I will be using my funds elsewhere

My tax refund went on this card. Serv is "holding" the money. I have no access to it. They say they can hold it as long as they want as it is a "secured loan" and is now forever in the control of Serv. It was sold to me by Jackson Hewitt as a cash card. IT ISNT! It's my refund which you agree to forfeit when you get a Serv card. Servs reps laughed and hung up on me twice.my nationally recognized bank said that Serv cards are not respected by banks and cannot be used with them.

Bad service:

Used bill pay, they said it was sent but the Bank it was supposed to go never, got my payment and Amex said they can do anything I will never used again!

Worst card ever

Brought it to make online purchases I was not able to make the purchases they told me to register the card I kept getting denied. They said I am not approved after I already have a Card and my money is on the card They said there's nothing that they can do. All I can do is use the card in the store after giving me different false information all day. That is not what I bought it for

After I had my card for 6 years I transfered $400 from Greylock fcu to serve The fcu took the money back,Serve wouldn't let me sever the fcu ( their CEO got busted for fraud and putting his parole officer on the)BOD) The serve guy heard what happened and then he shut down my account,This is a fraudster dream Cancelled accounts are not allowed to use CS

I have never had a card of any type that was this much of a hassle to activate. I keep being told by the automated system (because there is no human being to talk to) that I will receive a verification email. It's been 2 days and still no verification email. I enter username and password on the website that I alreadys et up and it says they dont match. I click forgot password and it asks for my card number and CVV. I enter that and it says the information is wrong. Every step of the way has been incredibly frustrating while my refund sits in the account and I cannot access it.

This(serve card) is an atm card kind of scam. They charge $5 per usage of the card no matter what you do with it and also only limit per month to 2,000 limit and is under american express logo so just a fair warning this card is not worth the time they even charge ya a fee for depsoiting on it and only allow 1 deposit a month no matter what the ammount is.

When a card arrives unrequested and has the American Express name on the card, American Express is complicit in the promotion. I complained to to American Express and they do not take any responsibility for the solicitation despite the fact that their brand name and logo are on the card and someone has to request approval by American Express legal. Bad move.

Worst customer service
December 8, 2022

This was the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced and I deal with Comcast and PG&E regularly. The woman I spoke to was so rude in fact that I was willing to look for a new card and close my account immediately! Honestly I wouldn't have bothered with this card if I had known how useless "Metabank" is. Heads up a lot of companies don't do business with Metabank.
So rude, horrible customer service and the card isn't accepted by many companies that you can't pay most bills with. If negative stars were a thing this card would be getting plenty of them I'm sure.
End of story we switched to Greendot and are very happy with it. Good riddence to the dead weight that is Servecard.

SCAMMERS BEWARE

These nasty people have done it to me 3 years in a row! Im stupid for using them again but it was the quickest way to get my refund from jackson hewitt… they literally have embarrassed me numerous times since last week. They basically took my funds and said there was suspicious activity and froze my money! THERE IS NO LIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE ON ANY NUMBER! THERE IS NO EMAIL TO CONTACT THEM! Im going to file a police report. Worst company in the history. And btw jackson hewitt wont even help lol. Beware dont use

I received a SERVE.com Card as a gift. It was activated and I was instructed to go online to register the product. I am now 48 hours later - no less than 50 attempts to register - 7 Customer Care agents (6 who hung up on me) - and I am LIVID because I am no closer to doing the REGISTER than when I began! AMEX SERVE could care less. It's a gottcha moment. The one agent who did not hang-up on me told me to wait 16 hours and take it to a local PNC Bank. Upon doing so, the teller requested the PIN code. It is most apparent that YOU CAN'T HAVE A PIN CODE IF ONE CANNOT REGISTER THE PRODUCT! This is as disgusting as anything that I have ever experienced in a lifetime. I want access to the funds. I want the account to close forever! I hope AMEX puts it where the sun doesn't rise!

Worst of all

I'll never do my taxes with Jackson Hewitt, my refund was issued on March 23rd I still haven't received anything, the serve debit card stinks, it makes American Express look bad, if I was American Express I would not do business with Jackson Hewitt. Finally today I talked with someone from American Express they said that they will send me a check and I will get it in 14 working days, that is disgusting.

On June 29,2023. I purchased a Serve American Express prepaid card. I attempted to make reservation to get a Car from Enterprise Car Rental. Some how Scammers rerouted by Information and pretended to be Enterprise. I gave my Serve Card information (SERVE CARD# 3*******8053 - Right side# 2816) CVC Code # 551. I have attempted to contact Serve so I can be REFUNDED. The transaction was Pending and had NOT been processed once SERVE had been contacted of the problem. I was instructed to Register the card. I am Unable to register my card by Phone or Computer. How can this problem be RESOLVED? I need my 410.00$ I am on a FIXED INCOME. I am without Transportation and Rely on Rental Cars and Public Transportation. Thank You. I can be reached at *******452 by Test Message. I have tried to call customer service *******559. The henchman for AMERICAN EXPRESS, one of the nation's pioneers in the world of finance, had a staggering year with numbers it had nwill beot seen in a long, very long time. How is it that they can change their policy to suit their needs at their will and receive protection from the industry leaders. Policies state as follows, "Monies being held will be returned when the merchant completes the transaction." When it should state that monies being held by the merchant will be returned when we (AMERICAN EXPRESS) feels like returning it. AMERICAN EXPRESS is allowed to do what no person in the United States of America is allowed to do. Should I exercise the practices that AMERICAN EXPRESS does I would be arrested for fraud. As AMERICAN EXPRESS should be. AMERICAN EXPRESS will verbally say this is their policy which contradicts everything the written policy says. So AMERICAN EXPRESS how much more money do you think American's can be defrauded out of this year. How much more money, AMERICAN EXPRESS, can you lie, cheat and steal from the hardworking people of this great country. AMERICAN EXPRESS should be like the ostrich and not the rhino. Please AMERICAN EXPRESS go bury your head in shame. You have but one brand name AMERICAN EXPRESS and u do nothing to deserve or protect that name.

"RED FLAG"

If i could this card a no stars i would this card is trash. I dont even have the real card still have the temp card and the already taking monthly fee off an i havent even had the card a month yet only had it for like 4 days all i can do is swipe but they can take my money when ever they feel like it this is very unexpectable. Customer service is trash she trying to tell me that it is a legit transaction and it very much is. Yall need to refund me my money. Horrible card

This is the absolute worst card that I ever had! For some reason, that makes no sense to me, they decided to temporarily lock my account And when I called to unlock it, they told me it was going to take 5 to 7 business days for the emails to go through and process with their team. Like What do you mean I didn't claim fraud or anything close to something like that they just randomly decided to lock my account up and told me it was going to take a week basically to fix it and my birthday is in 3 days. So frustrating! Oh and this was after about the fourth person I got transferred to because they kept transferring me to the wrong department and they couldn't transfer me to the right one so I had to call back and start the whole waiting hold process over. So if you get this card through Jackson Hewitt for your tax return like I did I highly suggest you take all of your money off of the card and transfer it to another one cuz this is not the only problem I've had with them. And they charge a monthly service fee I recommend Varo!

To continue with my card issue with my american express serve.I had a rep tell me that I could transfers money to walmart to pickup, um lady how the hell can I do that without the new card or the old one active? Now I get an email to complete a fraud form to submit, um WTF again how can you do that without the card info? This whole situation is just utterly rediculous that these csr's don't have a damn clue! But between the reviews and calls that will made maybe they will learn. Again I can't get over that is was CLEARLY STATED DO not CANCELL until I call you due to my deposit,needing to pay bills and also being VALENTINE'S DAY! So why and who AUTHORIZED it Because I didn't.This issue even cost me money due to late fees and even missed my daily number that would have hit for about $1200.00 or more So therefore I am seeking answers and retribution. Calling BBB SOLVE IT SEVEN AND ANYONE ELSE ON EARTH AND HEAVEN!
