I bought a laser projector and it arrived super fast as advertised which was good as I needed it for work that Monday. However it was not a UK plug so could not use and suggests not a UK product. Called Scan who promised next day delivery of UK power cable but it's now Wednesday and still no cable. Very disappointing and have had to loan a projector and I'm considering driving to by a cable at my own expense, not what you expect when buying a £1700 projector.
SCAN has only come on to my radar recently, but I'm glad they did.
I was on the hunt for a new Music Production Workstation, so I asked around professional circles who the go-to was. SCAN came back almost unanimously from several different sources.
I got in touch with the team and started asking some questions, and it became apparent that the service here was going to be first class (and I'm extremely picky).
SCAN don't tell you what you want to hear. They tell you what you NEED to hear, and this for me is a critical thing.
They don't want to just grab your money and run, rather, if they feel something else is better for your situation (even if that means no sale), then they will be honest with you.
So when I came forward with a build, and I said
"I want this one, im doing this"
I was told
"are you aware 'x' is happening soon? I feel for what you want, you might benefit from waiting for 'x', if you can..."... and on researching what he was talking about, he was absolutely right.
This to me, shows they genuinely care about our needs as customers and its not just about giving us what we WANT. That one bit of advice has prevented me from buyers remorse and its just showing me that SCAN are going to take care of my NEEDS, which in reality is far more important.
So I've gone and bought my audio interface from SCAN, and they even did my order with a special request which was fulfilled flawlessly.
This request would have required multiple departments to effectively communicate (as I said, it was a little out of the ordinary), but this was not too much, and was executed flawlessly.
I have to say, from the initial point of contact, to the ongoing communication, through to the ordering, to dealing with my "out of the ordinary" special request...
I am hugely impressed so far.
I will create another review as SCAN will be building my Pro Audio Workstation in the next month or so.
So far... 10/10
My first experience buying from these guys. I found my way round the site easy and found what I was looking for in minutes and at a great price. Delivery options aplenty and at lightening speed too. Well done…it's a pleasure shopping on your site! Thank you
I am still waiting for my computer to be returned after 8 weeks, yes 8 weeks, they ended up changing mb, graphics card and memory, they tried getting xmp to work, failed.
I suggested I don't Ned xmp, now on final stage, saying no access to bios and other errors.
I have never experienced such bull$#*! in my life, being an ex computer technician I can't believe the incompetence.
They are now on the edge of me refunding the whole lot, 3k.
Never again.
Turns out Scan had sent my card back to Nvidia which is taking time and have said they would send out a replacement. I have been buying parts from Scan for years and have never had a problem they have always had good delivery time and good prices and I will continue to buy from them this one mistake does not make them a bad company I think they are just very busy and mistakes happen
Sent my card back because it had a hairline crack in the thread on the water block only ever see it drip once and I did not want to send it back but it's brand new and had taken me a long time to save up for. After a while of waiting, I had to email them because the card had been with them for 4 days then they said the card was wet from the pump which was rubbish and it looks like they removed the water block and it's missing a chunk of the water block where the crack was in the screw thread I have my pictures and a video that shows minor fault that was not a problem but it's been two months and they don't reply to my when they do email they say chasing it up but still nothing and their picture shows a puddle of water sitting on the side of my card anyone with a brain knows gravity would not leave water sitting like that it would run off and it looks badly staged now with my video and pictures I will have to file a claim and also see if this is also a criminal matter as it's my property that they have damaged and first pic is where DPD left my card second is the threaded with cracks that I only ever see drip once really upset over this and I don't understand why they would do this
Scan computers not claiming responsibility for a high end computer that was delivered to the lobby of the building instead of the apartment.
Computer stolen within minutes of delivery to the lobby and customer was blamed
They stole my bought graphics card! They cooperate with Nvidia but are unable to drop graphics cards! By the first order, the system crashed during the payment. I tried to buy another card from Nvidia FE but scan.co.uk system showed me that I can't because I have one card already in the basket! By the second time they have cancelled my order! Because!? No Answer. They are almighty and will not answer why! I'm a Businessman! I have company and house in UK. I travel a lot and think it's a shame to delete my order! Inappropriate company for cooperating with the NVIDIA!
Your restiction is a BIG SH... CALL ME! Come see me, see where I live! You are crazy Scammers! I live in United Kingdom. NOT your crap business where I have a bank account, a credit card, etc.
As a businessman I have 10 bank accounts and 10 credit cards around the world!
Received a faulty item, horrendous customer service, refused to be accountable, had to prove it myself by appealing to the manufacturer. The stress was ridiculous trying to get a refund. Avoid at all costs.
DO NOT USE! Until they change their returns prolicy.
In short: I bought for around £4000 of hardware. Motherboard (£500) had a problem with memory slots. Returned it under warranty, got further damaged in the transport organised by them. Their support claims it was damaged before I sent it back, implying I am a lier and a thief. * Update: after escalation, scan has repaired the damage from transport, but motherboard initial memory fault still persists. Returned and awaiting next step.
You really need to talk to your customer a bit more in the build stage you guys are good at building but I found out after I got my pc that the motherboard is unable to overclock the cpu so I will have to upgrade later on, which is weird as it is paired with an *******k the K meaning unlocked to overclock why would I pay for that and want it in a locked motherboard. Then the fact I had paid for a 3 day build priority which suddenly was unavailable on the Monday you should turn this option off not just type unavailable in the description, sloppy website Administration. And also I was unsure my 360 rad would fit in the case so I talked to customer service online and ask them to check it would fit to make sure there not anymore delays they said hold on one moment and I'll check that for you and about two mins later came back and said yes it would be fine... this was the week it was due to be built 8 weeks after payment. I was called day one of the build by the build team who suggested I downgraded to a smaller rad 2 fans because mine wouldn't fit in the case I said no thank you, but you can upgrade my case with the money you owe me for my 3 day build. And explained to the guy what had gone on, after this I was looked after my case was upgrade and extra free commander for rgb fan etc, the pc looks ace still upset about the motherboard but I kinda should have looked in to it more guess I just trusted that they wouldn't want to have locked motherboards on 3xs High end rigs, give me a job I'll build your pc in no time. Oh fixed the rgb strips set up looked really bad lol. All in all it was a stressful sale as I'm not the easiest customer I have always built my own pc so I'm am very fussy. Dpd delivery not own service.
These guys are the worst when coming to refunds. They have exchanged one faulty product, but when I have requested the replacement product to be refunded as it was faulty as well and failing just like the first product, they have said that the second product was damaged by me when they received it and refused to issue the refund. They were insisting on me to sign a return policy so they can return the product to the manufacturer, but saying that since the product is physically damaged, the manufacturer will most likely void the warranty. BUT THEY WERE INSISTING TO SEND THE PRODUCT TO THEM REGARDLESS. Makes no sense, right? They were claiming that are the best at customer service, but one of their managers (Amanda Savage) has been dealing with my query, quite frankly, in a savage way. At first they have issued blurry photos where you cannot see the PCI card, but only the metallic bracket being damaged. When questioned, they have issued again some photos, these time clearer than the first ones, but again the product and the serial number on the card not fully visible. Very dodgy! I have finally agreed with them to return the faulty product to me so I can investigate the damage, and I was shocked of what I've seen. The bracket seemed deliberately bent with a screwdriver or a long nose pliers in a very hard way.
I will proceed with a full legal complaint against them and will FIGHT UNTIL I'LL GET MY MONEY BACK. I have purchased over the years more than £5,000 worth of components from them and have worked both full time and privately as PC builder and assembled over the years dozens of computers. NEVER DAMAGED NOT EVEN A SINGLE PART. Not even as a rookie.
MY ADVICE: if you return a product to them, make a full video of how the product is packed, then boxed, and keep it aside just in case. I guarantee they will play this game with you too.
My order number was *******953 and the return RMA number ******* (just so they know this is a legitimate review with a legitimate complaint).
They advertise stock that they do not sell, for the past year i have been trying to purchase a graphics card, they have pictures, specs... no pricing, nowhere or any way what so ever to even purchase said cards, please un-list all those cards and stop dangling carrots, only advertise what you have in stock... then i will remove this negative review
After days on the phone (getting disconnected) heaving been promised a solution and answers to my queries all I got is "we don"t do that and we can't help you with that". Do not waste your time with them. Utter uselessness on the phone and a ghost email address. ScaM
Customer service/sales are polite but cant do anything as you have to talk to the build team, who don't pickup. Apparently only the build team are authorised to do anything? Wish I'd read the reviews. Order cancelled last week. They said everything was in stock when i ordered! Not impressed. Order is still in 'awaiting picking' state, so no idea when they intend refunding me! (Glad I paid with VISA)
After contacting customer service with an order query Olivia at scan was extremely helpful and personally called me to discuss it and promptly put everything right. I left a very happy customer. Highly recommend.
I rarely if ever write reviews but felt I must in our dealings with scan.
As echoed below customer service is appalling, sent a motherboard back to them under warranty, as they instructed us to do so. Sent it insured delivery, they received the board mid December 20 finally got an Email from them after 10 + calls to their office NOT ANSWERED plus 11 Emails, advising us that the board had been bent by us and therefore the warranty was void. The board was not bent and we have successful signed for delivery of the item, I feel this has been 'made up' to get out of them having to be bothered to replace it. As I write this review I have asked their customer service people to give me a call to discuss. I would have more luck getting a call from the Queen.
Stay well clear and use the plethora of IT providers on the market who have a better review rating.
Dreadful company. Save yourself the hassle.
PS, I tried to select no starts for this rating but it would not allow!
Everything about ordering from Scan is great until you actually expect to get the items you paid for on the day they were supposed to be delivered. Literally never happens.
Unfortunately this is the core basis of an online ordering company. Their stock management is a joke. They will sell you things as in stock with next day delivery and then email you casually to say your order has been delayed. Their customer service is impossible to get a hold of with hours of wait times both on the phone and on live chat.
Even when you do get a hold of them their answer is always "Well you can just cancel your order then."
Just order from Amazon if you want your items on time.
Brought an msi motherbroad witch was faulty when arrived, sent it back under rma and was told 3 to 5 days sent on the 5. 01. 21 they received it the following morning. 3 day later still no news rang them and told me still in warehouse waiting to be looked at. After was told they had not received it yet dpd delivered it. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Was told will be over a week to get a replacement sent back Disgusted and angry.
Ordered a Next Level F-GT on the 16th, checked they were in stock, checked delivery estimate of 17-23rd dec so placed and paid for it, Christmas present so even their latest estimate was still in time.
Nothing from them since, so tried to contact via live chat, they don't have access for delivery updates and advised me to call, twice on hold for about an hour then eventually got through to Jake who was very helpful and tried to prioritise the order.
Jake gave me his email and direct line to keep in touch but his direct line doesn't work and he's not replied to my email.
I am totally fuming, on their website today (23rd dec) it says order today for delivery for 29th Dec, Ill be lucky if i get mine, paid for over a week ago now by then, can't even cancel it as it's a total nightmare to try to speak to someone at scan and gave up after being stuck on hold today for 45 minutes. If your too busy to fulfil orders then stop taking them.
It looks like Christmas is cancelled in our house this year, i totally appreciate covid and christmas delivery issues but I ordered based on availability and delivery promises, i had other options to buy from but decided on scan because they looked like a reputable company, lesson learnt.
Going to be one very sad little boy on Christmas day
Horrible! Just RUN! This company will take your money and leave you waiting week after week for dispatch, giving lie after lie after lie
Do yourselves a favour and use anyone... anyone else. Customer services couldn't give a rats anus.
Answer: I like Scan because the Sales staff are extremely knowledgable and the procurement process is stress free and smooth. Prices are as low or lower than competition and postage as cheap as the cheapest but more importantly Scan has obviously invested in staff and processes so I really enjoy ordering from them because as a home user I can move from desire to anticipation to easily and as a business user I need to have absolute clarity about the procurement process.
Answer: I'd agree with most of the above except Amazon and Ebuyer - in terms of postage and the ordering process in terms or order to receipt. I find Amazon in particular a bit of a crapshoot - it can very good but as there are so many sellers I feel putting Amazon in is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. Mind you, Andy was responding by talking about 'return processes and support' so I guess that does also go in the heading of 'better' and "in some way". In terms of cost, Scan is the generally the same or cheaper. As to better, if you are a custom PC builder then https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ is nerd's paradise - but only better in the sense that it is orientated to the self build PC nerd. It's a consumer site - not orientated to the business user - but definitely worth a mention. Scan can however, build a system for the home as well as the business sector. Their custom built rigs are almost absurd but I guess while they can build for gaming nuts, really they are for people (IMO) like the Soho people (3D and Film work people)

Hi Mike,
Thank you for leaving us your feedback, we are sorry to learn that no UK power lead was received with your item. This has been raised internally with our purchasing team and warehouse manager to look into further.
We can see that following contact from yourself our returns team did arrange for a replacement plug to be sent out to you. Despite this we can see that a return was requested for the projector due to the likely fact the cable may not arrive in time for projects you were working on. We do understand some orders are more time critical than others, so can fully understand this decision.
Our team then received notification from yourself yesterday to advise that you would like to keep the projector should the cable arrive with you next day. Unfortunately as the return for the cable had already been arranged with the courier, we were unable to stop this.
We have however escalated your feedback to our returns manager, who will contact you directly today to discuss this further and work to get this resolved.
We do apologies again for any inconvenience or frustration that may have been caused.
Kind Regards,
Team Scan
