I don't know how this company has such a high rating, they must definitely have employees or family write fake reviews and score them high. I have purchased several pieces of jewelry from Ross-Simons, and ALL have turned black on me. None of the pieces I bought were 14K, so buyer beware! Maybe their real gold jewelry is okay, but all their coated jewelry is complete and utter crap. I bought a leopard ring, a snake ring with diamonds, and two rose-gold (over some sort of metal) necklaces with pendants. ALL turned black after one wear. When I tried removing the tarnish, it was time-consuming but effective. However, when I went to wear the piece several days after cleaning, it was completely black again. Completely! I have bought cheap jewelry in boutiques that still haven't tarnished on me, but this jewelry from Ross Simons is of the most horrible quality! Truly tawdry and a total rip-off. When I emailed the company and asked if my jewelry could be cleaned or repaired in some way because it turns black and is hard to keep clean, they told me they would send me instructions to ship it back. I never received any further communications from the woman who responded to my email, even though I had replied to her email many times and the emails were never returned, so I knew it was her correct contact information. I had read many bad reviews on this company and their customer service after I started having all the tarnish problems and Ross Simons went radio silent on me. It made me regret ever purchasing from them, and I wish I could spread the word to all jewelry lovers out there to avoid this company like the plague! All Ross Simons wants is your money! Once they have it in their bank account, they don't stand behind the garbage jewelry they peddle. There are so many other companies that sell better quality semi-fine jewelry than Ross Simons!
I have bought 2 bracelets in the past and both of them broke within a short time of owning them. However, other items that I have purchased have lasted without breaking.

The way R-S keeps in touch about your order as it's on its way is good. I will say, though, that sometimes there's disappointment with the product when it arrives. It's not always exactly how it looks as pictured on the website. Usually it's that the product is flimsier than pictured, which can be because it may be difficult to capture the volume of a product in a photo.

The two bracelets I ordered looked great online, so I ordered. One was 7" and the other was 7:25" (which I was worried would be two large). Both got here yesterday and looked like they were for a child. They both measured 6", so I initiated a return for both items. Very sad.

Bracelet photo and specifics described sapphires as BLUE. They do not look blue but darker, almost black. Obviously these are not top quality sapphires for the price but the product description should be more accurate. The Sterling bracelet is a nice design.
I've ordered quite a few pieces from Ross Simons over the last few years. Their products have always been beautiful and a nice quality. I have returned one or two items that didn't work for me. In this order was a Pearl bracelet and a Pearl ring. The bracelet is beautiful but hard to fasten by myself. I have figured out a way to fasten it by myself. The Pearl ring was a complete shock. The gold band came shaped in an oval shape and looked nothing like the picture. Obviously defective. I would expect better quality control over their merchandise. I'm also not thrilled they use USPS for shipping. This particular shipment got "stuck" at the post office. Nothing for me to do but to wait. Also returning via USPS is not convenient for me as I don't live close to a post office. I'm hoping this experience is not a prediction of a decline in their merchandise. Time will tell.
I loved the necklace I bought. What I would like to see is more longer bracelets. I have at least an 8-inch wrist and there are very few available long enough.

Gold over silver also tarnishes when in contact with many chemicals, including those found in water (sweat, pools, showers, baths, cleaning water), chlorine, bleach, hair sprays, lotions, perfumes, and some other chemicals. When not in use, the gold over silver jewelry will need to be stored in an airtight container (the box and bag it is sent in will not be airtight), and the jewelry has to be taken out to be cleaned and polished about once a month. If it is not stored in an airtight container, the GOS jewelry will oxidize over time and tarnish will show on the jewelry.
For gold over silver jewelry, we recommend using a soft cloth to help polish and remove oils. Most cleaners will be harsh enough to remove the layer of gold or cause it to dull. If the tarnish does not come out, some warm soapy water may help. If the tarnish still remains, the jewelry may need to be professionally cleaned.
