Sales Taxes

In an attempt to purchase from Rock-auto I found that my city requires taxes to be collected (for the city of Broomfield Colorado) as well as the state of Colorado. Rock Auto does collect for the state and is not able (Amazon is able, Etsy is able as well as most other on line sites) to collect city taxes.

Rock auto's suggestion is I ship items to another city that does not collect city taxes or does not have taxes.

What concerns me most is according to the Sales Tax Manager in Broomfield, Rock-auto refused to discuss this matter.

Business must be good for the Taylor family to not need my business or other peoples business where they choose not to collect city taxes. And yes Rock-auto does have parts local dealers do not have and part of the reason I am writing this review. For small businesses Broomfield only requires on check sent for yearly taxes collected to be paid.

My daughter is a typical struggling 21 year old out on her own and I told her to try Rock Auto because their prices are great... Little did I know their rating is even less. She ordered a passenger mirror for her RAV4 and when she got it brought it over for me to put on. Well it's about an 1/8 inch too small all the way around, so now she has a mirror that is useless as they say this is a non returnable item.
The web site trying to get to a complaint is window after window and there is no chat or help other than useless question and answer. As her dad I should have just gone to auto store downtown... At least they would make sure it fit. Cheap price parts are useless if they don't fit.
I will never ever even try this website again.

Originally going to order parts from ECStuning for my Audi, then realized shipping to Canada was $35+ USD. Was happy to see RockAuto had cheaper and faster shipping. Price difference between the two websites is quite significant, a set of 8 NGK coil packs and spark plugs from RockAuto was $100(CAD) cheaper than ECStuning(RA was $360 ECS $460). I received a plastic part damaged during transit to which I shipped back through DHL and RockAuto promptly expedited a new part to me from Arizona(completely free of cost) and it arrived 3 days later. The exchange process was fast and painless. No idea where these bad reviews are coming from.

I originally tried Rockauto.com when I could not find the correct parts for my Mazdaspeed 6. I needed brakes, and the local parts store could not provide the proper part; the rotor and pads were wrong. I went to Rock Auto, and not only found the proper products listed, I also found a nice selection of cheap, good, better, best. Keep in mind, the savings are offset by shipping and wait time to receive, however, they were still less money for a high quality part than I expected to pay. The parts arrived, and were a perfect fit. I have ordered from Rockauto.com and I have had a positive experience with every order. The website is simplistic, but efficient to find the vehicle that parts are needed for. I have purchased parts for 4 different vehicles, with zero discrepancy or errors regarding the part type. I recommend Rockauto.com, and have had a positive experience for all of my orders of parts.

I Ordered parts From Rockauto because i have never tried them, they had all the parts i needed in stock. The prices were good BUT NOT the best,
I would NOT recommend RockAuto.com because the shipping took Forever, I waited a week and a half for some of the parts and 2 1/2 weeks for the rest. And a few of the parts were Wrong.
Returning the parts WILL cost you, "NO FREE RETURNS"... One of the parts cost more to return it then the price of the part it-self...

Avoid like the plague. I bought a Deka Intimidator battery for $200, it was DOA, sulfated and with only half a charge. I was expected to pay to ship the item back for refund, and I already paid to have the dead battery arrive at my house. I went through the Deka warranty company to have a replacement paid for by the manufacturer. RockAuto does not answer its phone, and it has ZERO customer service. Just an automated thingy wanting you to pay to send their trash back and the option to buy a second piece of trash to replace the first one. Terrible, Terrible, avoid at all costs. **Update 6-6-2020** East Penn Manufacturing (The manufacturer of this Deka battery) did not stand behind their product, and I received no replacement from them, I will never buy anything from Rock Auto Parts or East Penn again.

Shame on me

Shame on me for not researching the Rock Auto reviews first. A buddy said to try Rock Auto for better pricing so I did. I received the wrong part (partial part of order) and technically was my fault... didn't know 2014 Toyota trucks still had a 5 lug option - apparently I should have known that and didn't see the "fine print". Bought a brake pad/rotor "kit", but when returning it started going through individual line items - VERY unfriendly website design. No call # for help, rather point you to a fricken list of topics to search and hopefully find a response that matches - what a nightmare. Then when getting with customer service via email - same basic scenarios as all the other reviews - I still had follow up questions, but the service person responded with closing the IT ticket - never had that happen before. For the few dollars saved on the parts - NOT WORTH IT. I will never use Rock Auto again. Again, I should have read the reviews first - shame on me.

NEVER AGAIN!

RockAuto are con artists, when selecting an item and selecting shipping options you expect to get your order on time. This is not the case, I was expecting something NEXT DAY, 5 days has passed now and the parts are still in the warehouse in Azusa CA! That being said I had pushed "return item for refund" and I get the wonderful prompt that this order has already been shipped... The item was never picked up from Fedex and is sitting in their warehouse but they can not do a return because it is "shipped" in their system. This website is a JOKE, I was giving them a chance against all bad reviews, that was a mistake, I should have went with the reviews and not shopped here. I went to ORilleys got the part in 5 min and now its being installed on my car and has a LIFETIME warranty. Spend the extra money and get it somewhere else. NEVER SHOP AT ROCK AUTO! NEVER NEVER NEVER SHOP HERE! THIS IS YOUR WARNING!

I ordered the parts it was shipped Fedex, it was not able to deliver.
RockAuto Does not have Customer service you can call, Called Fedex to delivery on Monday it was send to shipper.
They received it and never got a call or email to resend or ask me if i wanted to refund. They just refunded $6.00
Was charged $18.00.
Tried email no respond

Rockauto has it's uses, just like Harbour Freight has it's uses. However unlike Harbour Freight RockAuto sucks when it comes to returns. You order something with a core charge they should send a return label that pay for the package of the returns. However they don't, tbey actually expect you to pay for a label ( $7) and you still have to pay for the return price for whatever service your using ( via USPS, FEDEX, UPS) and they argue with you about core charges. It's total garbage how they operate the return part of it and they have lost a customer, and I would advise anybody else to just go to your local parts store and just pay for your stuff there having to deal with them on returns is just not worth the price difference.

This blows! Now more than ever I depend on rockauto they fail me twice! I'm doing my share of stay at home keeping me and you safe. Sooo I order my parts for a simple straight forward brake job on my 2015 dodge charger it has 14.5 rotors in front I received all my parts in semi fashionable time. What were supposed to be my raybestos 14.5 rotors were not! They were 8" 4 lug drums, not even close! So I go thru the lame online nobody to talk with n vent my frustration my concern I want my 14.5 rotors!. Ok so return for the correct part is my request another freakn 5 days of waiting great! Today Saturday yes parts are here weather is holding awsome! Open my rockauto box OMG the same freakn! Garbage drums AGAIN! WTF! FU rockauto thanks for getn a simple order wrong twice! Waisting my time n not one of u Fu@##%% can pick up a phone to hear me! Oh best of all I get charged 25.00 for a return label because I refuse to ask for a return for correct part again. You know play the wait n see if its correct this time! Thanks for nothing! Fail Fail Fail Fail Fail FAIL! I tryed not to sound angry, frustrated, taken not easy! I ordered parts Saturday, paid for two day shipping and still have not seen any tracking number for parts. Now I'm being fined by the shop witch my car is in daily for storage fees. No customer service. No customer service number to call nobody to assist me with my order I've already placed. Just terrible

Return problem
April 23, 2020

I was sent parts that did not fit my vehicle. And in order to return these parts I have to do all the footwork and pay for the return label. The shipping alone is going to make me not break even. It's actually cheaper for me to keep the parts, than to return them.
