I ordered a standard rotation steering gear in 7/21 for a restoration project, according to their catalog listing. Installed 1/22, only to discover that it was incorrect for my application. Consulted with manufacturer customer support who initially thought that the part had been mis-boxed. Ordered another standard rotation steering gear, because that's the only way Rock Auto would exchange part. It too, was incorrect. Consulted with factory live customer support again, and they finally admitted that what I needed was a reverse rotation steering gear. Returned one for store credit, and am stuck with one due to their bogus return policy. Rock Auto's application data is incorrect in their catalog and they wouldn't admit it, or offer any reconciliation for the initial purchase. So, the take-away is, never order parts that you won't immediately install and verify... their return policy is garbage... don't trust their application coverage... and this is the last time I'll do business with them. You can obtain parts locally for similar cost AND have live customer support.
They sent me the wrong part. Now to return it, I have to pay for the shipping cost which is the same cost as the part I'm trying to return. So there is no point. Will never go through rockauto again.

They sent me the wrong parts, then charged me for return shipping. So $85 down the drain for the wrong parts. Then when I placed another order thinking it was just a mistake, they sent me the wrong parts AGAIN. Save your money and don't use this website.
I have been a Rock Auto Customer for several years and initially I was completely satisfied. As of late, their shipping times have become excessive. At present, I am waiting on a door lock actuator which they claim was shipped from Elyria, Oh. On 01/20/2022. I just checked on the update, now 5 days since the order was placed and it just left the USPS facility in Akron, Oh. That is a distance of 51 miles & it took 5 days! Did they replace their delivery vehicles with pack mules? This is not the first time this has happened. My last purchase, a window regulator was shipped from Arizona & it took nearly two weeks to arrive. Their price points are great, but their customer service is less than ideal. Automated responses & impossible to speak with a representative. I also purchase parts from PartsGeek & while they are a little more expensive, they are still less than local brick and mortar stores, and they ship fast. There again, I live in SWFL & PG has a warehouse in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Food for thought when considering online parts orders and time is of concern.
Ordered parts. Never arrived. Not notified they were even in town. FedEx sent them back and we were never refunded. When talking to FedEx they told us there would have been an extra charge for shipping that we would have had to pay to get the merchandise. Emailed with customer service their response was the cost of shipping was more than the parts. We had to kiss $180 goodbye.

According to the numerous posted bad reviews and my own personal experience, whereas I was sent a part that did not fit the vehicle it was advertised to fit and rockauto.com would not refund me in full/send me a prepaid return label, they are violating (in MA.) the Consumer Protection Act, Chapter 93A, Section 7 regarding fraudulent, unfair or deceptive business practices. (similar laws in other states). Customers need to start filing complaints to the Attorney General Office and Better Business Bureau who will investigate this company and take the appropriate action. They are criminals and thieves putting their failings upon the customer and need to be stopped in order to protect the public!
They knowingly sold defective merchandise to our company and will not accept a return. We have spent thousands with them as well. They don't care about saving a business to business relationship. That should show anyone that is willing to give them money that they don't care about your business as well. Do yourself a favor and don't spend money here.
I've used RockAuto for my car parts for years but recently had a problem with a shipment and could not get any customer service. The shipment was beyond late and tracking indicated the package was damaged and shipper needed to contact them to resolve. As others mention, there are no customer service contact options if your problem does not fit within the constraints of their automated systems. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and got it resolved. It seems to me that the BBB IS the RockAuto customer service system! I continue to use RockAuto's website to find part numbers, just purchase them elsewhere. Good company in many respects, just dropping the ball with customer service.
Parts ordered were wrong. They told me manufactures sometimes change parts so it's not their fault and if I want to return them, I have to pay for shipping. I'm going back to the local auto parts store…they take returns at no extra cost for me.
Pay the extra money for parts. By the time you have to track down hardware cuz the parts don't come with them. You're paying it anyway and you lost time and you get pissed for the frustration. Having to return items sucks cuz they have so many rules. I labeled the calipers front or rear, right or left and they will screw me on the return saying I defaced the product. So go somewhere else, that doesn't involve shipping returns and more than likely having to pay for shipping.

I have 2008 Ford Explorer and ordered fuel pump the sent me fuel pump for 2003 mercury mountaineer. The pump is listed on there site as An exact fit and they will to take product back or refund my money. Do not order from them it is not worth the risk, hassle or wait. Scam

Bought "economy" rated window regulators. Five of them. Only two remain functioning past their one year warranty. Rockauto would not even provide a discount for replacements.

I just order parts for an base acura rsx 2005 last week, i get them quick so i was good with that, after i check out the parts they where for a 2009 nissan 370z, i contact them to see a return and they never answer me, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE THEY DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT TO DO.

Out of the 6 cars ( 3 foreign, 3 domestic) I've needed parts for so far not one has been complete, Even for my Chevy trucks I had to go to LMC truck for parts because they don't list options.Don't get me started on customer service, it doesn't exist. There is no one you can talk to EVER!

I warn: Do not buy from RockAuto. You are asking to get screwed over. You plug in your vehicle information and they give you a list of results that are supposed to be compatible with your vehicle but that's not the case. I simply ordered brake pads for my front rotors on a 2012 Grand Caravan and they send me brake pads that arent for my van, or any van at all! Paid 11+$ to ship, 10+$ for the pads and now, i have to pay to return ship them after pulling my pads off and finding out the hard way! They werent for my van at all! Half the size of the original pads, sent me ones small enough for a civic or metro!

They should honestly stop charging people to return the wrong items they send. They did not help me at all and they cost me valuable time and extra money. They are very unprofessional when dealing with returns on items that do not fit your vehicle at all when they are under specifications on their website. If you look up anything under a specific model, question if it will really fit, and ask yourself "do i have the time and money to pay for return of this item if sent weong part by company-fault?"
Ill say this! If they can't get brake pads right, they can't do anything else right.
Anything you order, question yourself if you have the time to explain to customer service why you shouldnt have to pay return shipping on an incompatible item they sent you.
