The overall reputation of the company is markedly negative, with numerous customers expressing dissatisfaction with product quality and customer service. Common complaints include receiving defective or incorrect parts, inadequate shipping practices, and a convoluted return process that leaves customers feeling unsupported. Additionally, the absence of direct customer service options, such as phone support, exacerbates frustrations. While some customers appreciated the initial product selection, the prevailing sentiment is one of disappointment and distrust, suggesting a need for significant improvements in quality control and customer service responsiveness to rebuild credibility.

I ordered TIE ROD ENDS for my 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The paperwork has the right description on it, but the parts were not the right ones. They were installed before realizing that the parts were shorter than the original parts. I requested a return due to this and was told that they were non-refundable because they had been installed. I feel like they should have tried to compromise in some way. So by trying to save money, its going to cost me more. That was $66.00 wasted, I will never order from RockAuto again. My advice is shop local and if you do order from RockAuto, even if they look right and the description is right on your packing list, hold the parts side by side and make sure they are the same length before you install them.
This place is a real joke, Carrier lost the package and no way to contact rockauto at all, no number, email, nothing, BEWARE!
First Time To Use RockAuto & The Last// Ordered a TBI for my 1989 GMC V6 4.3 the part number was a match for my truck BUT electrical hookup doesn't match [e.g.] cannon plug on unit totally different than "OEM" also butterfly spring setup is a mismatch from "OEM". "I just ate the cost of the unit. If I had bought the TBI locally I could have just returned it. Little to no customer service & no phone # I just rebuilt my old unit and reinstalled.
Over recent months I have purchased several parts for both my car and truck. Some parts fit others don't. Some parts fail within a week of putting them on. Struts failed Within three months of putting them on. Thermostat failed within a week. Sensors sometimes connect others will not without modifications. Overall AutoZone is more reliable.
NEVER order from rockauto ever! If you order a product you and they claim it was delivered, and you never received it they will do nothing! I filed a claim with fed ex. They did nothing. I canceled the card payment, now rockauto is demanding i pay for a product i never received! Never ever ever use rockauto! Horrible customer service. There is no way to talk to an actual human at there company!
Bought new parts from them when it arrived it was a used, old, rusty parts, and its in a good packaging, I'll returned it but i lost shipping payment as they're to take it out from refund, they're scamming now the customer, they are good before but recently they are scamming the customer, so sad so beware now, and i will never going to buy anything from them from now on...
They sent the wrong parts to us. Customer service is email only and it's impossible to talk to someone. Our mechanic was behind and because it was over 30 days since the part was shipped, we couldn't get a refund. It's like they send random parts to people and hope that they are too busy to return things within 30 days. It caused our repair to take longer because the mechanic had to order the right parts. It cost more money because we had to pay for the right parts AND the wrong parts.
I received an email for a 5% discount but when I placed my order using the applied code, I did not get any discount. I tried to find out how to contact them from the website and there was nothing available to address my question. Be weary of false discount offers from RockAuto.
Use to buy from them for last few years and i was pretty satisfied with the delivery and the prices, but last 3 orders where terribly miss matched and the last one came with a gouge in the crankshaft deeming it useless. Forget about returning it if you live and work in Canada, not worth the hassle. Stop buying from these clowns!
Rock Auto is what is wrong with ordering online. Most companies are great as long as there are no problems. When they send out defective merchandise, they won't back it up, there is no way to speak to a live person other than chat. I got a defective ac compressor from rock auto. When the clutch mechanism and magneto to engage the clutch failed from the beginning, I was told they would not accept the part back because I had not flushed my entire system. My problem from the beginning was the pulley and clutch and had nothing to do with lines or hoses. The new part had a bad magneto which flushing the system would have no effect on. They will not let me return it and they won't replace it. Save your self some hassle and money in the long run. Deal with a local shop you can trust and don't support scammers.
I ordered a catalytic converter and paid 21.99 for next day shipping. Received it 4 days later with wrong gaskets. They have made it so you can not call anyone. Once I notified them of the issue they stopped responding to me. If I return it they are not refunding the 21.99 I paid for shipping. They used to be a good place to order from. Never again will they get my business.
Zero support. Horrible delivery times. I was skeptical about using rockauto as I usually use Amazon, the price on a certain lsrt was a little better st RA so thought I'd try them out. I'll pay the extra 10% from now on and know I'll get my order. I feel I have been ripped off and will now be forced to contact visa to see about money recovery. Very frustrating experience. Steve
I received a defective A/C Compressor for my 2010 Mazda5. As soon as it was installed, the part failed. I attempted to Refund the part but I didn't know a flush was required before I purchased the part. That little detail is not emphasized on the part page. Well, I finally contacted someone through email but they were unwilling to provide any help. They practically blamed me for not knowing what was required for the part. Then when I emailed them again for more information, they had closed out my ticket! I have lost $200 and I will never shop on this site again.
I bought two new cv axles from them and they literally sent me a used cv that someone had obviously driven on for 50k miles. Dont buy from here, cause if they get your order wrong you cant even contact someone about the issue
SUPPOSEDLY YOU CAN GET TO CUSTOMER SERVICE ONLINE BUT IS IS SOMEWHERE SO DEEPLY HIDDEN IT CAN'S BE FOUND... NO HELP WITH AN ORDER
RockAuto; s prices with shipping added on are not such a deal anymore, the parts I purchased from rockauto were available locally for the same price with no shipping. I recommend doing your homework before ordering from RockAuto.
I ordered rear brake pads and rotors for my Jeep. They sent the correct pads but the wrong rotors. I tried to call and realized there is no one to speak to. Your issues are only resolved thru the website. This fiasco cost me an additional $80. I will never use RockAuto again.
I take care of a family member who is on disability. His disability debit card has a charge on it from Rock Auto. Funny thing is, he doesn't drive, or own a car! He didn't order anything from this company. However, I can't prove it to Master Card, which is who the debit card is through, because Rock Auto doesn't have customer service. There is no one to talk to or email for help!
As a do it yourselfer, I had an issue with my mercedes. I searched for info online and found some erroneous info telling me to replace the brake light switch on my vehicle. I went to Rock Auto, looked up my vehicle, it showed a brake light switch for it. Ordered it, got it, went to put it in, and there was no brake light switch on my model vehicle - what! I did more in depth research and found out other years of my vehicle had a brake light switch, but mine didn't. So why would Rock Auto show and sell one for my vehicle if my model doesn't actually have such a switch? The brake lights are actually actuated by the master cylinder. I contacted Rock Auto, told them this, and asked for a refund including shipping they charged me and shipping back to them because I ordered the switch based on their erroneous listing. I sent the part back, but they charged me for return shipping, didn't refund the original shipping charges, and charged me a restocking fee. I got back less than half what I paid. If their site had been accurate, and didn't show a part that doesn't exist on my vehicle, I obviously would have never ordered it. I got wrong info while searching online for how to do a repair, but what cost me was Rock Autos wrong information that the part fits my vehicle. I would never order anything from them again because they are greedy and do not care about customer satisfaction.
Received completely wrong item, then RockAuto wouldn't issue the refund after we returned item b/c of 'different packaging'... even though it was 100% their mistake and horribly rude customer service on top of it.
RockAuto ships auto parts and body parts from over 300 manufacturers to customers' doors worldwide, all at warehouse prices. Easy to use parts catalog.
