I've had the Ring home alarm for about a year now. Everything keeps breaking and customer services says they can't help me! They are very rude and don't really care about what you're going through. Customer services honestly makes you feel like Ring has already made the money off of you since you've purchased all the equipment so they don't care if you're happy or not. I will honestly be throwing this stuff in the trash. Please don't waste your money.
I actually like my ring doorbells but their customer service is nonexistent. I went to renew my service and because one doorbells service didn't expire for 10 days they renewed that day even though the others service had expired without notice. I went on line to renew and then it indicated it was a trial... no I just paid for new service for a year so I called. The automated system said my wait would be under 5 minutes so now it's 29 minutes and 35 seconds and I'm still waiting. They need to get their crap together or lot's of people will read these reviews and bypass purchasing ring products all-together. Needless to say my time is valuable and this just doesn't cut it for me. I have 2 doorbells and now I wish I had purchased another brand. A product is only as good as it's customer service and this sucks big time.
If you purchase any Ring product be prepared for NO Customer Service. We had a Ring video doorbell and HD Security Camera installed years ago. The Security Camera archived videos. I removed it for 24 hours when I painted the front of our house. That ended archived video capability. I sent three inquiries to Ring through their agent PissedConsumer.com in May and July. They confirmed my messages had been delivered to Ring. Ring ignored them.
I can only assume it's because they have insufficient bandwidth or server capacity for the product they market and sell. The equipment works fine, but getting to your equipment away from home if you want to see who is at your door, or the porch pirate, etc., well, forget about it. The app will time out every time.
Half the time it doesn't even record. Misses people coming up the sidewalk. So I dropped the 30.00 a year price. Now it's only a live view. Get blink it records everything never misses anything. Plus there's no yearly charge. What a waste of money for ring.
I worked with Mark today to get my Ring Doorbell back online. He was fabulous. Not only was he extremely patient (with my 1 1/2 year old son screaming in the background) but he was extremely diligent and got it working immediately. To go above and beyond he also looked at my "motion areas" for my flood light camera / other camera and made recommendations to enhance my experience. All in all, this was a successful call and I appreciated Mark's support. I will definitely be reaching out to him directly with any further questions/concerns.
You get kicked offline with your ring device at the drop of a hat; either you had a slow response in your wifi or they "upgraded their software". For whatever reason, you have to log back in and it won't take your password, and it won't accept a reset. Calling, chatting, doesn't matter. They claim higher-than-normal call volume (imagine that) and you'll spend all night trying to get someone to answer. Worst product ever.
Don't buy this crap. The only purpose of a security camera is to record video.
Guess what - it doesn't, at least not if you don't pay for their cloud service.
They don't even give an option for local storage to your own personal network.
The APP crashes on some ridiculous login loop and you can't see what monster is banging on your door.
Buy something else and don't waste your time with this POS.
My ring worked well however they now want to charge me for the video recording space. This was NEVER talked about prior to my purchase. Got a notification on my phone thru ring that my video recordings would disappear in x days if I don't sign up and give them my credit card data. The cost is 3$ a month or 30$ a year for the recordings. I am extremely upset about this otherwise I would have never bought this product knowing there was a continuous cost for its operation. Absolute hidden rip off! Buy something that offers the monitoring for its product life, otherwise you will be paying for it over and over again.

My doorbell (working on battery) often - about 40% of the time - doesn't record correctly: it shows a black screen with just audio. The video, when it does work, is grainy and laggy, littered with artifacts and noise.
I have a hard-wired Ring camera in the backyard and it is a bit better.
I spent over an hour with on-line support trying to get a Ring 2 Doorbell to function before installation. Eventually it sort- of -did but sporadically. I decided to try installing it on the front porch where the signal strength was strong. In spite of installing it per the instructions it would not function with my digital door chimes and the device worked some of the time only to stop for no identifiable reason. After spending hours messing with it I gave up and sent it back. This is a lousy product that is not ready for sale. On top of that the service support people only wanted to sell signal strength enhancers. Then there is the $3/month to keep records on the cloud. Stay away from this company and its products
Mostly find the products well made, though the doorbell has issues. The problem comes when something goes wrong & this Company has no concept of Customer Service, staff training & does not seem to give a f. K!
I bought this product thinking they would at least give me 24 hours of free storage to save the videos but instead they delete the videos instantly after live time. What exactly is the purpose of having it? I might miss the video as I'm working and won't be able to see it later because it's no longer live? Oh wait, I can! If I buy there subscription. Now, I'm not against them wanting to charge to keep storage for you but could you at least give me a pre warning before I buy it. Oh you do huh? It's small lettering so you can't see. Make no sense. It's like you were trying to hide it. Camera is totally useless unless you pay them monthly. Tons of other companies don't charge you monthly so why buy this one? Or maybe give me at least a day to save it to my hard drive for free? Feels like a scheme
I purchased our ring device 1.5 years ago and since then it has been a total pain. It goes offline for months at a time then randomly comes back online… I've emailed and called Ring 10+ times and they give me the same song and dance, it never works then they just wait until you are out of warranty then say you are SOL. Terrible product, choose others.
I have a Ring doorbell and a spotlight cam with solar "charger". First off, the solar "charger" is a joke - I was told it would charge the camera and keep batteries charged -- NOPE! Then they tell me the battery is draining because I have "too much movement" on the camera. Oh ok. Doorbell is so delayed and sometimes doesn't notify at all. It will catch a car driving by the house, but won't catch someone walking up my driveway and standing at my door! Customer service blamed my wifi, which I know is not true. Customer service also picks and chooses what emails they reply to. I am now looking into what to replace my Ring devices with. Anything has to be better!
My equipment stopped working months ago, and they can tell we have no active devices. We've been out of our home for 6 months after a flood. I was charged again for a yearly plan that was supposed to have been cancelled for equipment we don't even have anymore. They won't give a full refund because I'm 7 days into the annual plan that I was not notified that was renewing and had already cancelled. Don't waste your time or money with them! Terrible way to do business.
I bought a ring doorbell pro 2 in February 2023. I didn't know at the time that ring required a monthly fee for the product to record. They give a one month free subscription with purchase, and everything was fine until the month was up. Then it's too late to get a refund. So now I'm stuck with a $200 doorbell that won't record unless you pay up
I'm very sorry I bought the product. And plan to buy another camera from a ring competitor that doesn't require a monthly fee
Very difficult to have consistent connections. Gets a motion detection but when clicking on live view it just sits and spins then displays error: cannot connect.
Waste of money and time to use. Go to Lorex and get a real security system.
Set system up. Paid for service and it only worked intermittently at best. Got tech help on a few occasions then was told it needed faster than I had. Invested much more money for a faster service in my area only for it to still not enough. Stuck with an expensive 2 year contract for nothing. They should make that information more announced in their information on their site and their TV ads. Extremely disappointed.
Hi Cheryl,
I am sorry to hear about this. It sounds like you may be having trouble connecting your device to your WiFi. We do list the internet requirements for each device on our website for review. We want nothing more than for your device to work as expected. With that said, we'd be glad to review your concerns and to provide you with some options with the hope that we can turn your Ring experience around. Would you please email me at Bilan.jenkins@ring.com for assistance?

I guess many of us bought doorbells around 2 years ago, seemed like a good idea at the time even though quite expensive. And it seems the doorbells do not have a very long lifespan as I can see from previous reviews. Ours has never been "right" always had battery issues (which customer no-service denies) and now it only works intermittently. Example: The doorbell goes off when the wind blows a leaf on a tree but NOT when the UPS driver comes to my door with a new computer in his arms! I am sure it is on its way to a landfill soon. And I cringe when I see the new ads for their security system. NO WAY would I trust my security to their unreliable product.

Answer: Most annoying product ever. Doesn't work but almost does. This makes you constantly fool with it thinking you maybe possibly actually got it to do something similar to what they advertise. But in the end you will be back to square one with a pricey piece of crap! Then after hrs of listening to customer services b. S. you realize you've been had. But it doesn't end there. You end up on sites like this trying to help others from making the same mistake. And trying to figure out when this hell will end!
Answer: It does not work the way it is presented on T. V. The inability to immediately respond "LIVE" to an event renders it useless.
Ring has a rating of 1.3 stars from 773 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Ring most frequently mention customer service, door bell and live view. Ring ranks 166th among Home Security sites.
