I am a network engineer and have enterpise-class WiFi. My Ring devices (especially the doorbell) are extremely problematic and unreliable. I have no problems with over 50 other active network devices. Contacting support is useless because all they do is attempt to shift blame to the home network. They should literally go back to the drawing board for these products.

Very Disappointed
July 18, 2018

Bought this product to add to my security system. As one who travels a lot I am shocked to learn that you can not reset this device when you are away from home and you temporarily loose power or your internet connection. You must stand next to the device and repeat the set up process. Pretty stupid! Why cant you reset from afar? Most buyers of this device have it for when they are not at home. As it stands now, I have a non functioning device until I return home and reset it. Had I known this I would not have bought it. Very Disappointed!

New ring cameras
October 11, 2023

My older ring spotlight cam outdoor worked much better at picking up motion then both of the newer models both plus version and pro version had better clarity but did not pick up as much motion as my older camera so I took the new ones back and hooked my old one back up and now it records motion more frequently than the newer ones did,

I got the system, it rings constantly no matter how many times I change the sittings! I have to activate constantly! I paid them $$$ and got absolutely NOTHING! The lights come on even when no one is present! What a waste of time and money!

If I could give no stars I would. I have been having trouble with my front camera that's on solar. It stopped charging, and sometimes it showed it was not connected and sometimes it did. I reset the camera, unplugged the solar, plugged it back in, charged the battery, and it didn't work. The battery didn't charge. It took 5 phone calls of repeating myself, testing, an hour+ for each call and I was back to square one. Repeating my concerns several times even during the call. The CS people didn't get it. I finally asked for a tech support in the States. The person took care of the issue! I felt it was like the old days before Amazon bought Ring. I suggest anyone that is having issues ask for someone in the States or the country you live in.

Had the rinf first gen and upgraded to the second gen Ring 2 hoping it would solve all the issues with the first one. It hasn't!
Tired of the slow connections, the constant failure of the chime losing connection to the doorbell and the overpriced storage costs.
After receiving a tirade from a missed tradesperson who rang the doorbell three times, whilst i was in the other room. Cannot hear the outside bell from inside, and the chime failed to ring inside, nor did the mobile alert. I said why didn't the person actually knock on the door or call my mobile phone - but why is this necessary with a $350 doorbell setup?
Tried to cancel my ring plans and even that didn't work, so I'm now, once again on phone support with Ring as nothing is actually easy with this system and have wasted so much time with their methods of connection, especially the chime to the doorbell.
No more Ring for me and dubious if any wireless camera/door system on shared cloud storage will perform well enough.

My significant other passed away without a will or executor. Without him leaving the ring to me in the will I have no access to use. I was a shared user on the account. I have a worthless ring doorbell and customer service won't do anything unless you can send them death certificate a will or have the executor write a letter giving it to you. If you're older don't buy this.

Posted a question about a guy who came to our door and we have a no solicitation sign up. I asked the community if they knew who he was as he acted strange. Ring did not post it it took four times and then finally it posted and then they eliminated it. I called and complained Anna took me over an hour for them to finally say that I did not follow the rules. Really what rules? I asked to a guy was at my front door and that's not following the regulations? The customer service was extremely rude and put me on hold and told me to go through my computer. I wish we had never bought a ring. They really need to can all there employees there they were all rotten and gave rotten customer service. They are disrespectful and rude.

Works sometimes

Nice idea and sometimes it works. Most of the time it is so delayed, there is not much point. And now they are charging Canadians $50.00 as it was $30 and still is for USA. Even with exchange that is $39.91. Why are they overcharging by $10 for a service that is... questionable

Connection to live events
February 10, 2018

I have installed 4 devices around my home. I have GB internet and all the best wireless routers etc. I can't ever seem to connect to a live doorbell ring event, a live motion event etc.

I had people trying to break into my property at 4 am not too long ago and couldn't even connect to video and had to wait for the recording to post on the server (which has become the only way to view anything after receiving a notification).

This product sounds awesome in theory, in reality its the biggest piece of $#*! I have ever invested in.

Do you happen to know what your upload speed is in particular? For best streaming performance we do recommend a certain upload speed depending on which device you have. They double bill me EVERY month. After I call and spend an eternity on the phone, I will get a refund eventually only to have it happen again and again. Now I can't access my video recordings because they don't show that I have an account - the same account that they double bill every month. It is NOT worth the hassle! Not only that, the cameras have to be recharged so often that they are barely out, and the solar panel is very expensive. I would NOT do this over again. L

My ring chime died one day. Not even 100 rings to it. I was told it was out of the 12 month and would not warranty it and would not replace with refurbished. I had to purchase a new one.

I had a solar charger for my ring doorbell. The solar charge just stopped working. I called and again I was told it was more than 12 months old no warranty. But WAIT it gets better! They no longer make that solar charger and it is the only one compatible with my doorbell. So if I wanted a solar charge, I would have to purchase a new ring device and solar charger at full price!

Awful support of their products. Waste of money! Time to switch. If you have products set a timer at 11 months to have them replaced before they die shortly after.

What a scam!

We bought it and installed it and we also go the ring adapter so we get an actual door chime when someone comes to the door. Was great until they asked us to pay a year fee and we said no we just wanted to use the basic features now it will not work if you dont pay for their annual bull crap they disable it total scam! Stay away!

I have had Ring Cameras for 3 years. I recently had some problems and your customer service is terrible. I have wasted time explaining the same problem over and over again, and I am unable to get a returned phone call. Your service has really gone down hill!

Do not be duped. My Ring Doorbell worked for about 30 days, then went completely haywire causing my mechanical chime to ring non-stop. The camera stopped working completely. When I called Ring the customer service rep told me there was a product defect and they would send me a fix. The fix was a Pro Power Kit that does not work. When I called again, the customer service rep told me how to fix it but that fix did not work either. When I called again, the next customer service rep said the problem was not a product defect and I could not return the Ring Doorbell because I have had it for over 30 days. The stories go on and on with the customer service reps. I have spent endless time on the phone with customer service reps who deny that the product has any problems. Find another product. My neighbors with NEST are quite happy and have not had these problems.

Almost worthless
April 23, 2023

Video captured by motion activation is so slow to activate the camera usually misses the action entirely. Likewise, the activation of Live View is so slow that in the 15-20 seconds it takes to come up the action is usually long past. Neither the wired nor battery operated supported by solar chargers works during a Minnesota winter. Does anyone recommend a decent outdoor camera?

I ordered a product from ring and they never had the decency to even send me a confirmation email. I am a clergyman and need security for my dwelling. After many many phone calls and lies from the person I was talking too they told me I just might if I was lucky get a tracking number after a week. No tracking number ever came and now its two weeks. I tried to cancel the order and nothing has happened there either. They lie lie lie and I lost 199 Euro. How can I get my money back?

The connectivity on the App is awful. I have two cameras which makes it worse. Moving from one to the other usually results in not being able to connect. Also the motion sensing is ridiculous. I have it set as minimal as possible and every single animal that walks by trips the camera. When the wind blows the grass to hard (no lie) it trips the camera. We get a handful of notifications every single night due to stray cats... When someone delivers a package to my front door, by the time i get to it they are at the driveway camera, I switch to the driveway camera and by the time I actually get it to connect, the person has left. Most frustrating thing I have ever bought. 2 cameras $450... Oh! Issues installing both cameras..

Some guests at my home were dancing and all the sudden, the red light on the camera comes on, indicating someone is watching and/or recording. The device was disabled and video recording was turned off. Audio was turned on and I have since turned that off in settings. Bottom line - There is no real security on the Ring Camera so I highly recommend not purchasing. If you have it, watch out!

I was growing accustomed to the ring experience overall I found it to be rather helpful but then a few nights ago at 3am the alert went from "motion detected in daughters room" to "there is a person in daughters room" and i almost died. I am not sure why you would find that updating "motion" to "person" would be a good thing especially when I am sure you are well aware of how sensitive the cameras are. I am hoping that you guys go back to motion instead of person because it is very nerve racking, I won't lie - I am currently searching for a new camera system because of this.
