Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have NEVER had a problem using my certificates. Accessing your account and certificates is a little clunky at first, but I have always received helpful customer service to figure things out. The money my family has saved over the years eating out is in the thousands! Plus when we go out to dinner with other people and we have a certificate, we share the discount and we all get to enjoy the $50.00 taken off the bill, so win win! I have encountered a few places that have restrictions like "only valid Sun-Thurs", so I just don't buy those unless I know I will be eating out mid week. You do need to READ the details. All in all, I give it 5 stars. I really hope all the negative reviews don't shut this business down, it really is legit.

I thought that this would be a great deal, but it's one of the worse things I've ever encountered.
I can't use the app because it's always 'jumping' and there are no restaurants near me that will even take the voucher. I have $75 worth of vouchers that I can't even use. This is such a scam, I don't even know why people continue to get these things. Stay far away!
I was able to use the gift certificate ($5) but READ fine prints. 1 per month, per restaurant, per table, per party, per... We only have these certificates from a Disneyland ticket promotion. $5 Certificate requires $10 of purchases. With a total of $175 we have, the local business will probably stop accepting them (like others were saying) or website will probably close before we get to use all of it.
The website does not show all restrictions before purchasing a restaurant certificate, and the restrictions that are shown are not consistent - this makes it deceptive because it leads you to believe "Dine In ONLY" applies to certain restaurants but not others. Only after you purchase does the requirement show up on the certificate. Restaurant.com leaves you hanging - they say, well that is part of the "General Requirements". Then be consistent on the search result page!
Please don't waste your money or time on restaurant.com. It is all a scam or miserable failure. Half of the restaurants don't exist and the ones that do, won't accept the certificates or have some ridiculous " rules". Stay away! They will not give you your money back and it's a hassle to change your certificates when the stupid restaurants don't even exist. I am not going to waste any more time on it, just here to warn everyone. They are just going to scam you, waste your time and piss you off. Restaurant.com should be shut down!
I have bought many certificates over the years, and everything was fine. However, this summer I purchased two of their Broadway's show deals, 2 tickets and 2 50.00 rest.com certificates. When you try to redeem the certificates, there is no place REALLY, to eat... so I had them place a credit to my account, which NEVER seems to show on the account. AND customer service is limited.
Above was NOT a good deal!
I'm one of the victims today. I went to the restaurant which is a little bit far only to find out that the certificate was not accepted & that the restaurant manager said that they didn't make any business with this stupid site. I got the free certificate from ATT for opting to paperless bill. ATT should stop doing business with them as this affects their company reputation. This site is a real scam :(
This outfit is an absolute scam. Once you get on their list you can never get off. They actually have a customer service department to tell you that you can never get off their list and you can never delete your account. Their "coupons" are useless (e.g. You have to spend $50 at a fast food place to use the coupon). We were signed up by Mad City Windows in Wisconsin -- don't trust them either, they lure you into this site with promises of restaurant discounts.
A scam. Got it as a gift certificate from one of the parents of the kids I care for, for Christmas. Called the restaurant today to make reservation and when we mentioned we have this gift certificate, they told us they do not accept it anymore. But there is not way to go back to the site to exchange for anything else. By looking at the reviews on this site, about Restaurant. BOMB, it looks like others have had similar experience.
They offer what seems to be amazing deals. Then they don't operate the promo codes in the typical fashion that everyone else does. When you do figure things out and try to type in the code, it "conveniently" doesn't let you enter the promo code. Just a scam to get you to look at their Web site without the realization of the promises made...
Good lord, what a disaster. Ended up paying full price for my meal, after a long and embarrassing attempt to redeem a gift certificate. Not the restaurant's fault; they showed me exactly what they were trying to do. This was restaurant.com's fault. I have not been able to use the gift certificate and I'd rather throw the money away than try again. Stay away!
Purchased a cyber Monday promo and then found that restaurant had a minimum order of $50.00. Cancelled this certificate and wanted to exchange it for another Certificate, but site said to call customer service. After much looking on site, I found the customer service phone number *******844), but company was then closed. Phone next day to their automated site which said to "hold for a representative"... but no answer... even after 15 minutes... company played loud music while I was holding and then music went off and I was disconnected. I should have reviewed their site on sitejabber before purchase. Stay away. 12/03/19.
I have used many of the coupons and they were all accepted with no problems and I got exactly what I expected. They are a GREAT deal but you have to understand the restrictions for each coupon and decide if it works for you. I am not interested in going to the vast majority of their restaurants but there are a few we like and a very small number that we like a lot. For those we love the savings are big and it works great. I have never used the "specials", a lot of which are combo theater / dinner deals, because they don't work the same way as the regular coupons. They are much more restricted in where you go and what you get and other reviews confirm they apparently misleading and disappointing.
I keep reading these negative ads about restaurant.com yet I've been using them for years and never had one single issue! I think people don't read or pay attention to the fine print or are just WAY beyond cheap! Really clear in the explanations for each restaurant and you have to understand, you can't be cheap. If you don't understand the restaurant world, don't buy them.
Creates coupons for business owners without their approval. Many good businesses have had to refuse customers service or have awkward conversations with them. This website should be shut down or have a major adjustment to their B2B relationships.
Their "gift card" is 100% useless. The restaurants they list are out of date. They don't remove them if you tell them about it. NO RESTAURANT accepts their cards as far as I can tell. They can't transfer the restaurant.com gift card to be used on their specials either. DO NOT PURCHASE.
Also, their emails go nowhere. It has an autoreply saying to reply if you want an actual response. You will continue to get the same autoreply with no response.
Kenneth Chessick, M. D., J. D., Chairman & Chief Executive Officer is the greedy, slimy swindler behind all of this nonsense and should be dealt with.
Total scam, sets up deals with out business consent, restaurants can't honor deals they have not authorized, restaurant.com does not refund for their false advertising. F-
Horrible choice in restaurants. Horrible minimum policies. Cannot use certificates together. Worst experience of my life. Stay far away, might not even be worth it if you are given a credit for free. It is a sick joke, how do they even afford to pay the url fee each month. I wish I could give a lower review.
This site has remained almost a scamy. I have been a member for years, and lately any desirable places may be listed, but are always "out of stock" even on the first day of each month. They have lost credits on my account, they revised the customer account area and deleted some certificates I had that had been disavowed by the restaurant. Certificates are nothing more than discount coupons you have to buy. Common is a "$50 gift certificate" for a local sushi place that requires a $100 minimum purchase. That same place offers similar deals on their own for no charge - i. E. just a big discount for large purchases if you agree to tip 20%. Why pay the fee for such a "coupon"? Now, their Customer Service refuses to reply (twice) to a request to consolidate smaller certificate ("Gift Cards", specifically) into large ones that might actually be useful. SO STAY AWAY!
Alert: before buying from these website, please learn and make an educated decision. Avoid regrets and sour moments. Read their many, incredibly restrictive terms here: http://www.restaurant.com/theidealmeal/about/terms
What a rip off!
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
