Have used these certificates quite a few times. Sure, the restaurants are limited (133 in Washington, DC, and few "5 star restaurants") but easily used and lots of "new" good food experiences. Suggest go to Tripadvisor and check out the restaurant, give them a call and ask if they honor, and if they do, print the certificate and enjoy..
I bought a coupon for the Native Cafe in Pensacola Beach and tried to use it today just to find out they did not have permission to be selling them aso they are not redeemable! Never buy from this site!
Same old story - I bought 4 certificates... two were refused by a restaurant, and one restaurant had gone out of business. When I could get through to restaurant.com on the phone (which was a huge challenge each time, logging at least a half an hour onto my phone bill with each try) they offered me a replacement certificate to another one of their restaurants.
I simply trashed them - it's not worth the effort for me to go out of my way to one of their listed restaurants and then be embarrassed that they don't accept the certificate. They know that those restaurants aren't involved in the program anymore and they're still selling them - that's not honorable. What ever happened to integrity?
AWFUL! There is no mention that you or the unlucky recipient of your gift will be required to compete for a limited number of redemption certificates. Which means the restaurants that you intended to use the certificates for (the good ones) are untouchable, although the customer service rep gave me a good tip after refusing to refund my money. Attempt to redeem certificates@ beginning of the month between 1am and 7am. Also the very limiting exclusions and requirements of each restaurant are not provided when purchasing. DON'T DO IT!
Tried to use the certificate and was told that it didn't apply to steak or fish. That was not mentioned anywhere on the certificate. They also didn't accept the certificate on my phone- I had to have it printed out. That may have been my fault. I'm not sure. This was my first time trying to use these certificates so we'll see what happens with the others that I bought but I'm not very hopeful.
This seems like a fake thing. The restaurants listed in the "Restaurant.com" are either permanently closed or the one that are available are pretty crappy. Don't trust this. I had two restaurant in Phonix arizona area listed in the restaurant.com and bought the certificate but when went to pick up my order, found that both of them were permanently closed
www.specials.restaurant.com is falsely advertising 5, $50 egift cards for 50 dollars. They say they have a non refundable policy yet they falsely advertise the "amounts" of the minimum food item purchase in the process of getting your card information. I have not even used the vouchers and they are saying it is non refundable and also does not state non refundable in the confirmation email with the 5,50 dollar gift card vouchers. This company does bad business by putting false advertisements up on it's websites and in the emails it sends you.
First off it is extremely hard to use a coupon. There are so many restrictions that make it hard to use the coupons it is not worth it. Then to add insult to injury, we got a coupon for 10 Street live in Kenilworth NJ and the we got there and asked about the coupon the manager politely said that they no longer took Restaurant.com coupons and had asked them to take them off the web site several months ago and they refused. So buyer beware, do use them they stink. Brian
A couple of days ago, I received a $25. Restaurant.com gift certificate. I logged onto my account on their website, to credit those funds to my account. Now there is no credit in my account. What happened to my $25. All I can say is RIP-OFF. Another lesson learned, and thank goodness not too costly.
I only used this service once. I will never go back. I purchased play tickets, the play was cancelled. How I found out was when I gave these tickets to my mom as a Christmas gift. My mom looked the play up online for more info and saw that it was cancelled. I email the company, because you can not even call them! I got an email back saying it was cancelled and sorry! Sorry! I live a hour away from this play, this was to be a big night out. Just glad I didn't find out that it was cancelled after I drove there and paid for parking.
Difficult to use on web page with very limited local restaurants. I have over $200. In money to use toward restaurants purchases and haven't use in years because of difficulty in redeeming. Very few restaurants that are listed have too many restrictions. I rather get my money back that I spent thinking this would be a convenient option to dine out. Aren't
If you are familiar with the term "bait and switch" or would like a perfect example or education of it then buy a coupon from restaurant.com. I did!
Not at all as described-not even close. When I called for a refund within 10min after they charged( I paid through paypal) and was instantly offered a $100.00 coupon, it was like the rep had a script! I refused it by stating the last thing I wanted to do was continue doing business with a company whose first transaction was fraudulent!
Currently involved in a PayPal dispute after Restaurant.com responded with they do not refund fees!
Paypal has already decided I was delt with fraudulently, however my money has yet to be refunded.
STAY AWAY!
I got an email from groupon who i have used numerous times stating that ONE DAY ONLY you would get a $25 restaurant coupon from restaurant.com. Having never hesrd if them i went down the list of restaurants and only found one nesr me. A sandwich shop. Thats cool, i thought. Three of us could go for a $25 lunch for 4.25. Yay. I bought it. When i printed the certificate it stated that i had to spend $50 at a sandwich shop to get the $25. What? I wasnt told in advance. At that point i researched restaurant.com and found they were the biggest scam out there. Shame on u groupon. I will never buy from u again. Your credibility just plummeted. BUYER BEWARE.
I was given a restaurant.com gift card several years ago and I still have not found a place to use it. First I downloaded it on my APP and I bought a certificate. I took it to a restaurant and I could no longer redeem it. I had to get a refund from restaurant.com. But in addition there are very few restaurants to choose from and most of them dont take the full $25 certificate. Its like Pay $5 for a $10 certificate. I have to spend $4 here and $6 here and buy them ahead of time. Not easy to use and I would not recommend.
Got a 50 gift certificate as a gift and when I went to use it the place said I had to spend money to get 50 off! Huh what kind of scam its a gift therefore the person using it doesn't pay! Trickery at it's best. So my friend spent 50 on a certificate I can never use
RIP OFF! Sounds like a great deal, but it's not until AFTER you confirm your purchase that all these crazy restrictions pop up like "100.00 minumim to use certificate" I bought these as a gift! Not a great gift telling someone they have to spend 50.00 in order to use the 50.00 giftcard. How is that a deal? Also excludes alcohol, holidays, and a whole bunch of other nonscense! Stay away from this site!
"Won" $125 in restaurant.com gift cards bidding on them on the Verizon Smart rewards program, when I received them I signed up (made an account) on restaurant.com, then entered my gift card numbers and the money disappeared, it said I had $25 credit on account when I entered that card, then said I had $100 on account when I entered that card? I thought 25 + 100 = 125? Then I tried to purchase some coupons for a local restaurant and they asked for a credit card! Where did the $125 go?
Drove to another City to use my certificate to learn that as of March 1st the restaurant no loger accepts the certificates and that I had to contact restaurant.com for a refund. The owner hinted the company is going out of business. I would recommend not buying any new certificates and try and spend any ones you have asap!
Bought a certificate for a restaurant that my wife loves. Two weeks later I get an email stating that particular restaurant is no longer accepting the certificates. So be it, I will get a refund. Wrong, I was told by an Alex that they do not give refunds and I can only get a certificate for a different restaurant. I told him if I wanted the other restaurants I would have bought them but only bought from restaurant I did try and buy. This is a complete rip off. I asked him what is stopping them from listing cheap certificates to nice restaurants and then once they sold enough to just cancel it and make everyone now use that money for the restaurants that aren't selling. I believe this was a setup all along. I asked for a supervisor, which of course I was told they are all busy. They wanted to have one call me back but I told them I would wait on hold for as long as it took... half hour and they keep checking back but saying still not available. Will wait this out on principle alone
Bought gift cards I thought I could use at restaurants but it turns out it is only to buy certificates from their site. The way it was advertise to me was very deceiving and did not make this clear. Only after receiving a detailed explanation and reading it a few times did it make sense. This was deceptive and shady.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.
