Trying to help my daughter who missed a connecting flight at DFW. Looked for hotels close to airport. Thought I was calling Hyatt and didn't realize until after "nonrefundable" confirmation receipt hit my email that I had actually been dealing with reservations.com. Bottom line, room is costing $50 more than had I booked directly. We were in an kind of urgent situation so I was careless. Won't happen again.
Please do NOT book with them. They charge surcharges and hike up the $$. Charged me $239 more for my 3 day trip. Expedia and priceline are so much better. Reservation.com are theives!
I will never do any type of transaction with these people ever again! They charge more than what is available from other sites and say that there is a 100% refund if canceled within a certain time frame but then end up charging you a $25.00 service fee for a reservation made online. Total RIP OFF!
My husband had a room booked for several weeks for work. The work trip got cut short so as per usual he was expecting to get the money back on the room for the days he didn't stay. Welp customer service told him oh well basically. It's not our fault you didn't complete your stay. We are not talking a few hundred dollars we are talking more like well over a $1000.00. We have never had an issue using Expedia or any other booking service. They immediately took that 3000.00 out of our banking account when the room was booked. That should have been the first red flag. Expedia doesn't charge until you check into your room. Never again!
I booked a room at $105 that looked like it was reduced due to being handicap accessible. I was charged $146.73. They have $20 in taxes and FEES and then a service charge of $20. This is not stated until you book the room. I called 30 minutes after booking the room and asked for a regular room due to the price I am paying. They won't cancel or refund or change the room.
I was told they would put in a request for someone to email me about canceling the reservation and was told if I don't get an email to just call back for further frustration.
Do not use this site. It's a scam.
Buyer beware... In 36 years this is the worst ever experience. I went online and made a mistake... my whole stay is non refundable. Sickening. I called at once as they charge your card at once, unlike a hotel that just authorizes. With their fees a standard stay is about $100 more, and if you have a death in the family... Tough luck. They should be jailed for such a contract, and doing this is to good Americans. Wish they offered a zero star review because they would qualify... CALL THE HOTEL DIRECT IT IS A WIN WIN
They tell you they are giving you the lowest rate and then turn around and tack on a huge fee. They don't sent confirmations. Very difficult to work with. It's a rip off!
First they overcharged the purchase on my credit card. When I noticed it, I notified the credit card company and they handled it.
I ordered sandals that have a wide piece that goes over your foot. They were squashed in a plastic bag, then into another plastic shipping bag. When I took them out, there are creases in them because of the way they were shipped that won't come out. Their reply was if they don't fit me, give them to someone. Now they won't even answer my last email. Do not buy from them.
There was no indication that I was on a website other than the Hilton which I wanted to stay at. I got a confirmation from reservations.com but did not realize that this was a something other than how Hilton handled its reservations. My three day stay cost me $130 more than the hotel got for the stay. My stay was wonderful. Reservations.com is a SCAM.
They really made me believe I was talking to the hotel. They also were very pushy to make the reservation. All because they'd get a non refundable service fee of $127. Horrible! I had to cancel the reservation a couple hours after making it and sad that I can't truly get a full refund. The reservation was about 6 months away.
The agent who made my hotel booking falsely claimed that they were not a third party but directly with the hotel. I only found out later when I called the hotel.
The agent lied to me saying that my room has 2 beds after I repeatedly asked him to confirm. Took my credit card, charged it, then sent me the email after wards. Within 10 min of receiving the email, I saw the error and called them. They refuse to refund my money or change the hotel room.
I am stuck with a $500 room I cannot use and my trip is in 2 days.
I have asked for a copy of the recorded conversation. I will report them to the fraud dept of my credit card company.
Be careful when entering credit card information on line. I went to a hotel website in New York to book a room at a hotel we have stayed in the past. Found a room for $150 per night plus taxes and booked the room for one night. After completing the transaction I received an email confirmation from reservations.com for a reservation at a hotel in Chicago IL for $700! I have spent hours of my time trying to get Citibank to reverse this fraud. Call the hotel and book directly!
I'm livid!
I made a reservation and I needed to cancel 30 minutes later. I cancelled but was informed I would be charged $200.
I understand paying $31.95 service fee but to charge me a full night after 30 minutes is ridiculous. The reservation is more than 3 weeks away.
And, I needed to cancel the reservation before I could submit the request the for a full refund. It is like admitting fault before you can defend yourself.
Reserved a room in Lake Charles, LA. At LaQuinta Hotel Westlake. Turns out it's reservation.com. Resevation.com price $174.57. LaQuinta price $118. Wanted to charge me 30% or $52 to cancel. Still showing $174.57 on my card. Will stop payment at bank.
Booked a hotel on line with the first site that came up on my browser. Turns out to be a mistake. Only after pressing confirm was the total booking amount shown. An additional $20 service fee was added. I called to try to cancel and was informed that this is non-refundable. My advise is please steer clear of this site, as it is a total rip-off. Please tell your friends to beware of the site.
Really P***ed me off.

Never use them. Reservations.com is a scam. I searched online for a special hotel name. Reservations.com came up in my search pretending to be this hotel. It was never obvious that this is a third party booking. The device costumers in to being the real hotel. I booked through them and when I received my confirmation email I realized I booked through a third party. Somewhere, all the way down at the end of the email it actually explains that this reservation is non refundable. As you can imagine this policy was not obvious on the site. True and deliberate desertion
I had to change my reservation by one date. Called the representative and she refused to do that staying its their policy. I called 45 days in advance, I did not ask for a refund I ask to update my reservation by one extra day and I was refused because the reservation is non refundable. This is a true customer scam. Be wary.
If there was ever a bad experience to be had biking a hotel, this was the worst. They took the reservation and gave false information about the hotel. After trying to cancel, they were to email me back in 2-3 days. Didn't hear from the company. No surprise, they don't have a clue as to what they are doing. Bad idea to ever use this company for anything, unless you gave money to throw away. They couldn't care less about their customers, just their money. They made that quite clear.
BEWARE! Check your map app to make sure it isn't reservations.com 3rd party to make reservation! What a nightmare! I tapped the Westin Downtown Dallas icon on my maps app. Made my reservation online and discovered too late I made it for the wrong hotel. I immediately called to report my mistake and get the correct hotel. They refused to give me back any money and I called 5 minutes after making reservation. They did not care about the mistake! Credit card company said no problem disputing the charges because this happens often!
Do not book through this site. It is not a legitimate site for booking hotels or anything. This site popped up when trying to book a hotel room in directly from the Canadian hotel company and it appears to be the hotel company's booking site. It doesn't have any indication on the booking screen that are referring to US$ currency unless perhaps its in the extremely fine print. According to my credit card company, they don't even book the hotel, they used Expedia in my case.
I cancelled this reservation immediately once I got a confirmation email from them which clearly indicated the funds were in US$. It also included a ridiculous tax amount, not sure what they based that on.
So I tried to cancel it directly using their phone number but they wouldn't refund their "Service Fee" and after some discussion they just hung up on me. I had to cancel the hotel charge on their website and am disputing their service fee through my credit card company who stated "they will have my back"
I have been dealing with them for three months about a refund they promised me. Customer Service is a laugh. They tell me the Billing Department is working on the issue. Can I speak to the Billing Department? No, they do not accept calls, and are available only via email.
This site should be prosecuted for ineptness or criminality.
Answer: Based on my recent experience, it may not be a scam but, it definitely have very unorthodox business practices which will place the consumer at a disadvantage (shake-down approach).
