I thought I was booking a reservation directly on the hotel's website because their website spoofs it in the search results. When I realized after I didn't book directly I found the real website of the hotel and realized I'd been charged 19% more for the same exact booking including all taxes/fees. I went to cancel the reservation to book directly and reservations.com wouldn't let me on the website and made me call them. Talking to a CSR they tried to get me not to cancel by offering me a $19.90 discount. When I declined they told me they were charging me this amount as a fee to cancel. I told them this was unacceptable and they waived it. This website is a total SCAM and should be shut down for taking advantage of customers. They are adding no value and defrauding people who can't tell the difference.
These people have the worst customer service. In the times we live in why would you have a nonrefundable policy? I thought I was booking through the actual hotel website, but some how was booking through them... I wouldn't have booked if I had known it was a nonrefundable reservation. Now I am needing to cancel. I called them and they informed me that they could cancel, but that I would not be able to get my money back since this was book as a nonrefundable reservation. I talked with the manager and tried to speak with the managers manager. I was informed that there was no other manager available, but she would not do anything but spout their policy so she's not the head manager. Do not book with them! Aweful!
This company is a total rip-off. They charge exorbitant booking fees, their rates are higher than any other company and they will not even allow cancellations. Do NOT use Reservation.com!
Reservations.com is a US based website that books for Canadian hotels but makes no mention of their prices being in US. THEREFORE CANADIAN BEWARE - you are getting ripped off booking with this website as you have to pay in USD.
Furthermore, when I called less than 12 hours later to cancel I was denied a refund, told that there was nothing that could be done, spoken over repeatedly while asking the 'customer service' for support and then hung up on. DO NOT USE
Buyer beware, I thought I was reserving a room through the Hampton Inn website but actually ended up booking through reservation.com. They added exorbitant fees which were not included with the pricing and NO REFUND cancelation policy. DONT USE THIS SERVICE!
Do not use reservations.com as they rip people off by making 2 reservations when you only request 1 and refuse to refund the customer for their mistake. The hotel told me there was 2 reservations and to call reservations.com. When I called they guaranteed me there was only 1 reservation. I have been trying to get a refund for the second reservation for almost a month and they just keep saying I made 2 reservations. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO BOOK A HOTEL!
We booked rooms, an accident made us unavailable to go, two weeks notice and they will not refund. This was quite a bit of money, An absolute scam do NOT use this company
Reservations. Com is fraud. Overcharged my bank account and after providing proof of over charge i have now waited over 3 months and no refund. Just lame excuses. Make your reservations elsewhere.
Had a reservation for a hotel in Manor Tx, these people send my payment and reservation to Atlanta Ga, How in F did they screw this up so badly, now Im out 437 dollars and no place to sleep, all I get on the phone is the run around, this is the worst experience I've ever had and the costomer service want you to all the leg work even though they Fd up, i will never ever use them again, never had such a terrible experience
My advice, do not under any circumstances use this booking site
Do not book with reservations.com they give you a day after you book to cancel and after that day they will not refund you any money! They are also very rude!
Stay away
They bait and switch with low rates but HUGE fees!
Then they tell me it could take up to 30 DAYS to o refund me. For nothing, no product, no service.
I booked a room by MISTAKE. And just as I finished the payment, I realized I was SCAMMED. I called them and they said they have a NO REFUND policy. Customers have a RIGHT to CHANGE their mind upon realization that they were cheated and their HONEST, HARD EARNED money should not go to a CHEATING organization. BOOK YOUR TICKET DIRECTLY.
They will actually charge you for your reservation, before letting you know they are actually charging your credit card. Then they do not answer your call and make it impossible to reach someone.
When scheduling a reservation you do not know that they are third party when you give your credit card, you think it is for a deposit plus you do not see their no refund policy
I thought I was booking a Hampton Inn. When I booked it I was extremely tired. I booked the room on 1/27/2023. When I printed off the confirmation, I noticed that the cancellation date was 4 days BEFORE I MADE THE RESERVATION! I noticed that the cancellation policy looked weird. So I knew I had messed up!
I tried to cancel they said I couldn't. I went to talk to the hotel, since they are spaying my house, I live close by. They said this company scammed a lot of people.
This company is a scam.
I was marking reservations with my hotel of choice because I went to their website. Not true WOW thats almost $100 over what it should have been.
Travelers BEWARE! I booked Avid Hotel In Macon a year ago and after fighting with the hotel and RESERVATION.COM have been charged $358.74 and have been unable to get this credited back on my card. I initially booked two nights and on the morning of my scheduled trip unfortunately had an incident when leaving Atlanta the morning of July 11,2022 which led to medical attention and having my vehicle towed. I immediately reached out to Avid Hotel and was told that they would approve a cancellation without penalty. Because the reservation was booked via RESERVATION.COM they required me to send hospital ER document as well as the tow documentation which I provided. Per RESERVATION.COM they were only entitled to charge $14.99 for any cancellation and written policy stated the cancellation approval had to be made by the hotel - which it was. I spent a full year fighting this charge and I would be told by the hotel that the cancellation was approved, and even finally reached a one person office staff at RESERVATION.COM and was told that is how they do business...I sent all documentation required and they have refused to refund the $358.74. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use RESERVATION.COM; further more the management at Avid Hotel did not assist me in working with the booking company to get my money back. Even as I tried to have it disputed via my credit card, the representative with RESERVATION.COM would tell me one thing and then tell my credit card something totally different. BE CAREFUL with both entities, I honestly believe RESERVATION.COM is a scammer.
This co tried to act like they were the hotel.
Then they took me for 140.00
No money back
No reservation ever booked
How can you legally do this?
In all my years booking hotels, I have never experienced such and unprofessional, shady customer support staff. If you have to cancel, be prepared for drawn out, shady tactics. They initially challenged my cancelation, even though I cancelled within the time allowed. Doing it online did not work, so I called. I was on for 25 minutes when they finally put me on hold for 10 additional minutes while they confirmed with the hotel. When the rep got back on, she eventually confirmed it was cancelled and I would be refunded. I did not feel confident, even though I was on the phone for a total of 38 minutes, so I asked for an email confirming my cancellation. Was told within two hours. I waited day and it never came, so I called back. Right of the bat the guy was telling me I could not cancel, even though I informed him that I had the day before and all was confirmed. He then asked who I spoke to at the hotel and I told him one of his colleagues had called the night before and spoke to someone. He said it was their policy that customers have to get the name of the person at the front desk (I know this sounds crazy, but it's true) when calling in to cancel. At this point, I'm extremely irritated and asked to speak to a supervisor. He put me on hold for 17 minutes and the same guy got back on and said it was being cancelled and that I should received confirmation within 24 hours. No explanation, nothing - just that it was being processed. Two days later and still no email, so I call again and give the rep my itinerary number and went through all the motions again, for 20 minutes as she initially said she did not see any cancellation. So again, I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold for 10 minutes. She got back on and said it was being processed. I told her I was hanging up until I got the email, which I did after 12 minutes (I wanted the email in case I have to challenge the charge through my credit card). One thing is certain - these reps were trained this way - challenge any cancellations. It was crazy and I will absolutely not use them again.
Answer: Based on my recent experience, it may not be a scam but, it definitely have very unorthodox business practices which will place the consumer at a disadvantage (shake-down approach).
