I thought I was using the actual hotel reservation site but no, I was sucked into the pit of dishonesty known as Reservations. Com. When I saw that "taxes and fees" amounting to 66% of the room cost, plus a $19.99 non refundable fee, I knew I was scammed. Another honest site added a more appropriate 25% taxes. I cancelled and am awaiting refund. Otherwise I will dispute charge with my bank. If I could give negative stars I would. I made and cancelled the transaction on 24 February 2023.
Look at the crazy past year dates they refer to in their terms. Turns out they've been sued more than once.
I made an online reservation with Wyndham Hotel and the quoted rate was $106 per night for a 2 night stay. After giving them my credit card number they charged it without even telling how much the charge was. When the confirmation came through it was for $348.99 which was substantially more than the $212.00 I was expecting. There was no detailed itemization of the charges, only a summary. Calling them at *******090 put me into an endless menu loop and had to call back 3 times to be privileged to speak to "JAMES" in the Philippines. It turns out THEIR service fee is $19.99 (and I'm sure James gets a little more than $5 per day to do this), room taxes were $97.69 and one of the nightly rates was about $20 more.
Their customer service really sucks. They're only about money. There's no courtesy. No respect. You would be better off sleeping in the street! DON'T EVER book through these people if you want a good experience! The only reason they got a star is because it won't let me Skip it!
What an absolute crooked company. Was charged $214.49 for a room (fine). "Taxes & Fees" were $65.74 plus the additional "Service Fee" of 19.99. When questioned after the fact, customer service could not give me a breakdown of the tax rate or what the "Fees" were, they simply kept repeating that they were "system generated". In reality my receipt from the hotel (upon checkout) was (after taxes) $214.29. So basically using reservations.com cost just north of $85. After trying to explain this to them that it wasn't right, they just kept repeating their canned statements. What an absolute crooked company. STAY AWAY.
Made a reservation yesterday, tried changing it today. Didn't want to cancel, just postpone. We started calling at 530 and we're passed from person to person for over 30 minutes. Then they say oh we're sorry you're too late, you missed your window. If you change your reservation you're still being charged the full price. Just a note, our trip isn't for another full week!
Booked a Hotel through (reservation.com) in error, was charged $970.44 US plus a service fee of $53.86 US. I called and cancelled this right away through their Customer service Department. They did refund me the service fee above, but I never received my full credit! I was only credited $916.09 so they still shorted me $54.35. Costly mistake!
I would not recommend using their services!
Do not be fooled! No where on their website does it say there is a 122.00 service fee for using/making a reservation via this platform. They highlight the reservation policy of the hotel/resort but never notifies the user (YOU) that Reservations.com will charge you $122.58 for just making a reservation...not until you receive the email receipt. The customer service representative tried to force me to change my reservation to avoid being charged the fee. A complete crooked shake-down.
Stay Away!
I never write reviews. But this site scammed me 300.00. I thought I was booking on hotel site. I booked and tried to cancel five minutes laters and they wouldn't let me. They are way more expensive and zero customer service.
Accidentally booked with this site and noticed was not booking directly. Instantly cancelled and still charged $20 for service charge. This is a rip off company.
Call them and they basically said too bad. Would give them lower rating if there was one
Hide as actual hotel, charge high fees, change fees, and do not have accurate information on availability
Cuss service reps are not understandable due to broken English and heavy accents. Internet users beware
This operation is a SCAM.
Their rates are exorbitant and so are the charges for taxes and fees.
In addition they charge a service fee.
I too was misled when their site popped up while trying to make a reservation directly to a hotel.
I called to cancel my reservation soon after making it and got an email that my cancellation was confirmed. When I called a few days later to check on the progress of my refund I was put on endless holds. Finally, I was given a cancellation number and told that the refund would take 7-10 days which I was told after originally cancelling it.
Never use this site!
I thought I was booking through the hotel website, only to find I had been charged in US dollars with several service fees. I called within one minute of making the reservation and the very rude customer service agent by the name of Yan, said that the fees have been paid and their is no cancellation allowed on the booking. She spoke fast and was rude to me while I expressed my concern and frustration over what had just transpired. In the end, she put through a cancellation request that could be approved or denied in 7 - 10 days, my booking was for 4 days out. I called the hotel, they advised me to go ahead with the reservation as I would not know if I was denied or approved until after my hotel stay. Reservations.com is a very aggressive third party app. Do not use them!
I thought I was on the hotels actual website so I booked the reservation only to find out afterwards that I was on this deceptive site! As others have mentioned, they are not clear that there is a non- refundable policy and that they tack on an additional $14.99. I did not get an email from them and had to call three times before I was able to talk to a representative who finally sent me my confirmation email. Don't use this site. They are dishonest and should be investigated by a consumer legal team!
Made a reservation from 4-2 to 4-7 in Temple Texas, son had a new job he was reporting too and his house was not ready to move in. On 4-4 house was available and son checked out of Wyndham hotel, but was told he could not get refunded the days he would not be staying there. Since I booked the reservation with reservation.com, I called them and told them the situation. They too told me me that the remaining days would still be charged full even though my son would not be staying at the hotel. This is nothing more than theft by this company and I will never use them again, I would suggest no one use these rip off artist!
Was charged more for the rooms, plus a 40 dollar non refundable fee as I booked 2 rooms. They masquerade as the hotel company with a phone number but are not. Stay away do not use them to book! I never will again. Wiser to this scam business!
The agent rushed through the process and left me feeling cheated because she had no idea of what she was doing. She was quick to get me to agree to the terms but could not tell me why I was paying $40 dollars than the low price quoted. I will never use them again! You would be wise to look somewhere also. 0-Stars

The website kept the dates form an old search and charged me for the wrong dates. I tried to correct it and after 5 hours of calls, calling multiple numbers and going around in circles I give up in trying to get a refund. I will never ever use this site again. Buyer beware.
They have took in my money and tell me that they can't do anything to help me about taking my money another one tell me it's not their business we they didn't ask me to book a reservation online they're very rude four of them have hung up in my face their reservations they cheat people over the times of the money never gives it back they're the worst worst reservation place I ever am I entire life went to
This company positions itself to commandeer the actual hotel site and you unwittingly end up reserving with them instead of the actual hotel. You don't realize it until you get confirmation and they charge more than the hotel. I called to cancel and they hang up on you or become indignant. I was eventually promise a refund and they provided a call back number. The agent acted as if he never heard of the manager who promised the refund- kept asking the same questions and then disconnected the call. Will call my bank on Monday and report this to the Attorney General.
I booked a 2 bedroom suite online with reservations.com. The room guaranteed was a 2 bedroom queen w/ pull out sofa & when my teen daughter checked in with her coach and teammate concierge said the room never existed. They put my teen daughter/teammate in one room and charged her coach for an entirely different room. Worst booking agency ever. I spent over 2 hours on customer service in a complete run around. Complete scam agency with the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
Answer: Based on my recent experience, it may not be a scam but, it definitely have very unorthodox business practices which will place the consumer at a disadvantage (shake-down approach).
