My partner booked a hire car through rentalcars.com. When she couldn't collect we tried to change the name on the booking, but we were told we couldn't, but if we cancelled and rebooked we would get a refund on the original booking. 4 months later we have now been told it is not being refunded.
The second booking we made under my name, we booked an air conditioned car as it was 32*C, and they supplied one with broken air conditioning, again told us in no uncertain words, where to go!

By the way, a cigarette contaminated vehicle gets SO much worse when it heats up in the California sun... now my luggage and kids car seats stink too. Thrifty refused to do anything about it since we had booked through a 3rd party. So I contacted Rentalcars.com. They wouldn't do anything either unless I provided photographic proof before the end of the rental period. An impossible proposition. Actually they offered a 10% discount on a future rental. Pathetic! As if I'm going to ever use their services again!
This was my first time using this website for a car rental and it would be my last. I've never experienced such a horrible service until today. I called them after I left from the pick up place for my rental because beside the money I had already paid they were trying to add another $900. On the booking website the deposit or any other charges were shown. The deposit is understandable, but there was no explanation for the rest of the money they were charging us. I called them spoke to a representative and they told me that since I had already left the place without a car they were not able to help me or return my money. I wouldnt have mind taking the car if they would've explained to me the charges added, but no one had an explanation so I left with no car and according to the representative I can't get my money back. AVOID THIS PLACE.
When we booked car at rentalcars.com we set the pickup time at 11 PM on Sunday the 28th of June in Malaga. But when we arrived at that time the company that should deliver the car were closed. We tried to call all the phone numbers on our voucher and looked rentalcars.com and the company up on the internet that should deliver the car to us but we couldn't get through to anybody.
In the end we had to rent a car for one day at another company that costed 159Euro.
When we got home from holiday we contacted rentalcars.com again through mail. And after writing back and forth some times we finally were told that we could not get the 159Euro back.

I have been a long time frequent user of rentalcars.com and would historically suggested then to many people. Not anymore. I had a very bad experience over the last 2 days when I tried to cancel a reservation that had been outlined incorrectly. Once I received the confirmation and saw who the supplier was I immediately cancelled (all within 5 min) and was told I would not receive a refund. After numerous emails back and forth, they said they tough luck. All for the ale of €70? Seems short sighted. I am done with them, sadly.
We had a extremely disappointing 1st time experience when hiring the car from Blue motion. We were not aware they don't accept credit card but when making the booking we used a debit card and they took full payment. Now they won't give us a car and won't refund UAE 1800. This is totally unacceptable and very disappointing. Someone should be taking legal action against these type of scam companies. They are ripping off people.

I booked my rental car in Jan. For Sep. To Dublin, IE. Due to COVID-19, I had to change my booking from Sep. To Mar. However, I was told to call back closer to the date three times. The second time, I was told that I would be reimbursed for my $65 dollars if I call back Sep. 8th., and wait to see if they had a car to accommodate my same price so I wouldn't have to pay triple my original price. WELL, THEY LIED because I just called them, they didn't have a car to accommodate me, and they said that they couldn't reimburse me for my $65. WAIT A MINUTE, it's not my fault that there's a pandemic and thank you, rental.com for lying and misleading a customer.

My reservation was for 2 people and one of them can not travel now. Therefore I need to change the driver and creditcard because I have already experienced that they don't give the car if name of driver/renter is not the same as the name on the credit card.
So I tried changing this in my booking on their website but everything I click comes to a page where I can't click anything further anymore. (i. E. cancel booking since changing these data is not possible).
I have tried calling them on the local number, this number is not in service.
I called them on the international number and got to speak with someone. This person refused to help me because I am not the driver (driver is male, I am female). Even though I told him that I have made the reservation. Because this is so ridiculous I told him "what if I say I am him?" he said "this is being recorded and your lie will be on tape". Sad. Very sad.

Rented a minivan and was billed immediately on 6/13/20 for $246.14. Picked up the minivan from Routes Car Rental in Atlanta (NEVER AGAIN - FOR EITHER) Jul 8,2020 and waited over an hour to get my van. They were using it to shuttle ppl back and forth to the airport because their shuttle was in the shop. After going back and forth wondering what's taking so long. Randall explained and apologized. He stated he will make an adjustment for the inconvenience and appreciated my patience. The new contract is for $180.54. There's a difference owed to me now of $65.60. FYI, they only put about a qtr of gas and did not clean the inside or outside of the vehicle either. I returned the vehicle Jul 13,2020 and Randall confirmed I would receive my credit in a few days. I have had several correspondence and had to make several phone calls to Routes for my credit. Their customer service is non-existent and you have to dig to find a telephone number for them. They want you to send an email. Finally, an email on 7/22/2020 stating my credit was authorized but now I have to contact Rentalcars.com for the refund. After a few emails and filing a complaint on their site because there is no telephone number listed, They sent me an email today, Aug 5,2020, with some bs excuse of how they are prorating my credit and only issued a credit of $36.06. Now I have provided the new contract to them that was given to me and they are refusing to honor it. I will never rent from either of them again! They first tried to say I returned it early and had unused days, I even explained why the credit was issued. I filed a complaint with the BBB, consumer affairs and I'm posting a review anywhere I can until I get the rest of my money.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel my booking in the 48 hours period before pick-up. Since my rental period was 2 days only, I got no refund at all, because in this case the cost of a 3 days rental is subtracted to the amount I had paid (2 days).
