I wish I would have read the reviews. Do not rent with this outfit. This was the worst experience and I didn't even get to the point of even renting from them. A rate was advertised, a very good one. I never received a confirmation email from them. When I checked on line, my reservations were cancelled. The worst was that they said I was sent an email to confirm. Not true. Good Luck.
We did a booking at Rentalcars.com on June 10th, when we arrived at Hertz to pickup the car at Center Boulevard Kiosk City, 45-45 Center Boulevard, Long Island City, *******, Ny, New York, NY, USA, the store doesn't exist. They informed us that Hertz moved out at least a year ago. Then we called Hertz and they didn't have any car for us. I had 2 little kids going out for a weekend. I was so disappointed. Then Rentalcars.com didn't refund me for the charge in my credit card until after 2 calls and 5 emails.
My advice is stat away from Rentalcars.com/Priceline, they don't pick up the phone, they don't help, they don't refund you for their mistakes. It is a scam company!
Total Scam, they cancelled my reservation in Italy even though I called and told them I would be delayed and then kept my money for the whole month. Fortunately Bank of America back charged their bank and refunded my money after I disputed the charge. Very unethical business. Do yourself a favor and book direct with the rental car company when you arrive at your destination, you will pay less and have the security of dealing direct with the rental car company. I never write reviews but I couldn't in good conscience let other people fall victim to this scam without warning. You're welcome - Anthony Cicerchia
I seriously think this is their trick but the website is purposefully broken so that you can't cancel the existing booking. I kept pressing cancel button and the screen looks as if you did but won't get email.
Turned out it wasn't cancelled and they were like, if you are cancelling within 48hrs, you need to pay. I was explaining the reason why there was a delay (aka broken site). They simply don't care.
Those Brits customer client also will argue / fight with you. Good luck
Rentalcars.com are making promises that they don't keep. They offered a free second driver. Thrifty Lamezia did not know anything about this offer and demanded more than 10 Euros per day. When contacted, rentalcars.com wrote (after four days!) that they were only the brokers and could not do anything about it. They said I should contact Thrifty (in the meantimes 500 km away), pay the second driver and then claim a refund by using their claim forms. Instead of doing their job they expected me to make phone calls in Italian, contact the rental company and fill in forms. There was no support whatsoever! Rentalcars.com let their customers down!
To whoever is planning to book a car through Rentalcars.com please avoid that site for it's a total scam. I made a reservation under their website and they failed to confirm it on a promise time frame of 48hours. To top it all, after the said 48hours waiting for a confirmation from my original booking, they(Rentalcars.com) booked another car for me from another car rental company without my consent and charge my card (again). It's so frustrating reading bad comments on their page for same issue about scam/stealing customer's money/refund problem. Its also hard to reach them through email. So since they don't have a toll-free hotline, I was force to call their international number. The queuing and conversation took a while so good luck with my telephone bill and the refund which I don't know when it's gonna happen. First time to booked at Rentalcars.com and definitely my last. #rentalcars.com #scam #avoidrentalcars.com #stealers
Rented a car with this company. Arrived at Ft Lauderdale International Airport about an hour later than expected due to flight delays. Called as soon as we were there, the agent contaced the local company and was told they would arrive shortly. After another half hour or so we called the local office as well...we were again told they would arrive in 10-15 minutes in a white toyota as their van was broken. (it was midnight by this time!) Then they turned their phones to a recording and went home...and yes left us stranded in the middle of the night! WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!? This is a complete SCAM! Do not waste your time or money! One star is only because there wasn't an option for negative stars! It cost a fortune to fix the situation!
Scammers. You will be charged excessive additional insurance on arrival £300 for 7days on small economy cars and holding fee of £1500-£2000 then last of all you need to be a credit card holder but by that time you have lost everything payed and will NOT have a car or your money back also left stranded. Easihire by Cardiff inside of holiday inn stay well clear and book from enterprise direct
Ordered a car through them, needed to actually add a day, they told me "the original booking would be able to be cancelled without a fee" yet they are stealing my rental fee of over $400 when I need to cancel because of changes to our plans almost 5 months away. They are thieves... DO NOT USE THEM! They also said they couldn't transfer me to a manager, sounded like a person working alone in a silo somewhere and was rude and had no intent of providing customer service. Already put a fraud claim in on my credit card and will be reporting them everywhere I can.
They suck. I wanna lol that statement but I can't. They took the money ASAP, messed up the reservation and now I'm stuck without money and my car... the day before my trip.
I really wish I had seen the reviews before hand...
Lesson learned. Avoid at all costs!
I had booked and paid to rent a car via this company. I had checked the T & C and I was permitted a date chase. I attempted to do this online but accidentally cancelled the order rather than amended. Called with 10minutes of the mistake. Would have been quicker but they hide their contact number well imbedded in the website. Only to be told tough luck, it was you mistake we can't help and thank you for the $350AUD. Vile made me sick, now I can't drive to my next location and have to forfeit that booking too.
DO NOT USE
Our travel plans were disrupted which meant we were not able to collect our car until the following day. We explained that we were happy to pay the full amount for the shorter booking. They said we had to re-book and would then refund the previous booking. This was time consuming for us, and then they charged a heavy cancellation fee so we ended up paying a lot more for a much shorter booking. Also, we specifically booked a compact automatic car, and the only car they had with auto was an E-Class Merc for which we had to pay more. All in all, a poor experience and a very expensive one.
The customer service is terrible. Rental company charged me additional fees without any explanation so I decided to ask rentalcars customer services for help. First, I discussed in a chat window on rentalcars.com website with a guy, I explained him the situation and he asked me to send bank statement via email. I've sent the bank statement and got an email replay from Monalisa (that was her name) who claimed she would speak only with main driver and asked me again all information such as name, booking reference number, pickup duration, puckup location and other data which should be available in reservation and which I provided through chat. I provided required details and got a replay from another guy who sent me again on rentalcars.com web site to "Customer Relation" department to provide all this information again. The worst customer service I've experienced.
I'm not going to use their services again.
Not even try to think of booking a car through theyr company as u will be charged more than double.
Theyr stuff are really unpolite and bad customer service.we never took the car. And we havent received the money back!
I rent a car on 27/06/2017 and my reservation status became pending. After a day as the car holder did not accept my request I cancelled my reservation but rentalcars.com took all my money and did not make a refund.
They both do not provide service and take all the money. Such a dishonest way of earning money and a terrible service they have.
Keep away from them.
EDIT: After a week or so I sent complaint emails they made full refund. Still I would not use their service again, they provided a terrible experience for me in a holiday. They take money instantly and require too much hustle to make a refund that they did not have right to keep it in the first place.
I rented a car for week in St Thomas, USVI through Rentalcars.com with Budget, prepaying $289. The Budget car and service was fine, however only $234 was credited, a discrepancy of $55. It's difficult to contact Rentalcars.com- email forms and phone calls. The end result after much time wasted waiting, was that I am out the $55. They say no service fees are charged, but they clearly are not remitting the full prepaid amount to the actual car rental company. Stay away from this outfit!
No surprise to me about the bad reviews for Rentals.com. I recently traveled to Los Angeles. I booked a 12 passenger van through their site. They used AVR through their booking service, which by the way was a nightmare. Never use this company either I purchased a collision policy from Rentals.com which was paid and charged to my credit card prior to my arrival. When i arrived at AVR, the van rental facility supported by Rentals.com i was informed that my collision insurance that i bought and paid for from Rentals.com could not be used. I have contacted Rentals.com to express my discontent and to ask for reimbursed. No response, except for a ridiculous generic computer generated email about themselves. I had to dispute the credit card charge and I did file a complaint with the better business bureau.
They state that it can take up to 28 for your deposit to be repayed. I am battling for 67 days now. They just ignore your queries. They never paid the deposit they deducted from my credit card when I booked the vehicle over to the rental company, I had to pay again when I took the vehicle. So in actual fact you are paying double for a vehicle.
I will never book through them again, and would advise everybody to think twice.
We paid to reserve a car on Christmas day 2019 in Mexico. When we arrived to the airport, we were informed no cars were available. I tried to call Rentalcars.com but only got machines. The $550.86 charge stayed on our Visa. We tried to dispute this charge but our dispute was rejected. We were told we were a "No Show".
We paid for a car, showed up at the agreed upon time and place and received nothing in return!
This is theft!
I rented a car with them through lastminute. They sent me instructions to pick up the car with a credit or debit card. At the airport, they refused to give me the car because they only wanted the credit card. I asked for a full refund, and they denied it. Even though their own customer service confirmed to me that the debit card was possible following their terms and conditions.
This is their answer:
"We inform you that there is no refund option, we can no longer provide further assistance in this case.
I can assure you that we have considered the points you have raised. However, although I understand that it is a disappointment, we cannot change our decision."
The points I raised were that I have been denied the card even if I follow their instructions to the letter. I am now going via legal channels!
Answer: Good luck with that one, I'm in the same boat, I'm going to pass my situation on to the travel doctor at the Sunday Times.
The company has garnered a predominantly negative reputation, with numerous customers expressing frustration over inadequate customer service and unresolved refund issues. Common complaints include misleading pricing, unexpected charges at pickup, and a lack of accountability when problems arise. Many reviewers felt deceived by promotions that did not translate into actual benefits, leading to perceptions of false advertising. While there are occasional mentions of successful rentals, the overall sentiment indicates a significant distrust in the company's practices, suggesting a pressing need for improved transparency and responsiveness to customer concerns.
