Everything about these guys is terrible. You are not booking a car just paying them a random amount for a car that is probably not going to be there.

Actual rental company can still charge you whatever they damn well please.

Customer service is a bad joke.

Avoid these clowns at all costs

We reserved a car rental in May for late August 2021 to attend a wedding. The fires in the lake Tahoe area of CA caused the wedding to be cancelled two weeks in advance of it. We cancelled our car rental but rentalcars.com had already charged us. Their customer support in nonexistent to resolve this charge. We reversed the charge on our card, but Rentalcars.com still claimed the charge. We are out $331 for nothing. I will never do business with them again and I don't recommend you do either.

Customer service is awful, if you need to cancel at any point or make a change or if you need to use another card get ready, you will be charged twice and there is nothing you can do about it. Find a more reputable outlet for your rental, if you don't you will regret it, I promise you that!

Would give 0 stars if possible. Complete scam on cancellation fees, I am sure this is how they make their money, charging over 30% of the booking value. They stand by this without justification even after the actual car provider waives all fees. Just money in their pocket for nothing. No office location, the perfect scam.

I did a booking ith rentalcar on the 11 of November for a car that was listed as available for the next day. I paid my booking. 5 min later I got a call from the rental company and an email stating they couldn't rent me the car as there were no cars available. They mentioned they couldn't reimburse me as it was through the website.
I have contacted rental cars several time, they refuse to reimburse me.
In summary, they let me book a car while none was available and now they don't want to reimburse me.

Paid $685.48 for NOTHING. I rented an automatic car, but when I arrived at the airport, the guy from Boycar company provided a manual car, lower class. Don't ever use rentalcars.com or boycar company. They scam customers. I tried to refund my money via rentalcars.com support, but after a few months, they said they can not help me.

Don't Trust RentalCars.com!

On the 30.11.2021 I made a reservation (Booking Reference Number: *******) for an SUV car in Dubai 1. 12. 2021—5. 12. 2021Because of 5 hours in the return date they charge an extra FULL day, but this is not the bad story yet... When my wife, 3 kids and I reached the DBX airport the representative of THRIFTY office, the supplier, said I can not have the car because I have only my international license and not Memsi doc as an extra.
I showed her the voucher RentalCars.com supplied me with and not mention anything there but:
"License: the main driver will need to provide a full driving license in their name" and this is exactly what I had! As always (this is not my first time renting a car abroad)
She even refused that I will send someone in my country to go the Memsi office to create for me the additional document she asked for... She "can't accept online documents or PDF"!
But she was kind of fair and said you can't have the car but you will NOT be charged by Thrifty not even for a penny.
When I contacted the RentalCars customer service I felt the lowest possible quality of service you can ever imagine.
Not only is the team rude and not helpful, you get the feeling they are happy when you don't receive the car you order and now you stuck in foreign country trying to plan different transportation ideas...
I asked for a refund as I don't get the car
And Thrifty never charged anything
And you never mention in your voucher I need to supply extra documents,
They send you rude and cold terms and conditions link you should read and follow.
I was a 16 years customer of RentalCars.com and Booking.com and Priceline with Genius level 2 rank BUT I will NEVER EVER work with it again, will you?
I could understand if I was asked to cover their costs on this reservation if they were any, I don't think anyone should be lost but they refused to refund and lost huge family and friends that will never order anything under priceline brands! If someone that reads this is still considering booking something with them, READ IN FULL of all the documents, they hide the small letter and will never show you in the voucher the real truth!

Beware! Scammed out of $600

We rented a car from RentalCars while in Iceland and purchased insurance for said car through RentalCars for the duration of our trip. When we picked up the car from EuroCars, it was heavily snowing and windy making it difficult to see, as well as there being about 4 inches of snow accumulation on the ground and car. These factors made it difficult to properly assess the car but EuroCars assured us there would be no issue.
We were EXTREMELY careful while driving the car and parking the car in any locations. We did not hit, bump or damage the car in any way.

Upon returning the car to EuroCars, they stated there was a very small, approximately 1 inch scuff mark on the front bumper. This was very minor and I know that we did not put that scuff mark there however it was not noted during the original assessment of the car due to the tumultuous weather. That scuff could have been easily overlooked due to the blizzard that was occurring during that time.
EuroCars stated we needed to pay $600 for that 1 inch scuff mark because it was considered damage. We purchased insurance through RentalCars as I mentioned. So we immediately called them once we were being charged a large amount of money for damage we did not cause.
The representative at RentalCars stated we needed to pay the $600 but once we submitted the claim to RentalCars, we would be fully reimbursed. With that said, we trusted RentalCars, paid the $600 and left.
Upon returning home and submitting the claim, RentalCars has now stated they will not reimburse us anything. They stated we need to go through EuroCars (the company who we physically rented the car from, even though everything was set up via RentalCars, rental and insurance).
We were lied to and misled by RentalCars who gave us false information. We purchased insurance through RentalCars to cover things like this. We did not cause any damage but are being blamed for it anyway. And this is what the insurance should be covering.
RentalCars has not been helpful, they are merely pushing the blame to an outside company. RentalCars was misleading and blatantly lied to us to get their money.
I do not recommend RentalCars to anyone and suggest everyone beware of this money hungry company. Book through someone else.

Scam site

If you book online. You get a confirmation screen that tells you a final amount for your total reservation. No where on that screen has T&C's. You have to dig deep into your reservation to find out what you thought was a final charge is mearly a booking fee you paid and that fee has nothing to do with the actual charges for the car.

This is an out right bait and switch tactic. DO NOT book with rentalcars.com it is a SCAM!

Stay away from them!

Made car rental reservation for 11 days. When arrived to airport i had issue with the guy at the car rental counter. He wouldn't give me the car, eventually i rented from nearby rental company with no issues. Customer support isn't responsive, and they wouldn't give me my money back (700$). They have terrible term and conditions. Stay away! This wouldn't happen if you simply rent a car directly from a renal company.

Rentalcara.com is a scam

It is not a real rental car company, they are just brokers located in UK, they have no connection with the rental company you will get your car from.
I book a car with them, then when I got to the airport there was no car so I had to rent another one direct with the loca l company and Rentalcars.com said they won't refund my money. Stay away from this trap located in UK.

THEY ARE LIARS!

I received an email from rentalcars.com this morning titled: Important information about your rental. Simply put they wanted to let me know the following: We're just writing to tell you that Thrifty at Christchurch Airport have changed their name to Ezi Car Rental and are no longer part of the Thrifty Group.

In the email they gave me the option to cancel so I decided to take up the offer of cancelling the car rental and here's what it said in the email about how to do this:

Simply go to ‘Manage booking' at the top of our website and cancel your car rental booking.To make sure you get a full refund, please select ‘Trip cancelled' and put "NZ*******" in the box underneath.(If you see a message about a cancellation fee, don't worry – as this is a special case, we'll refund the cancellation fee as well.)

After I cancelled, I received a partial refund and then contacted customer service to ask when the remaining amount was coming? You would think that was a simple request?.

Unfortunately not. I have spoken to over 10 people so far in all the available contact points (chat, email and over the phone) and every single one of them have told me that I am liable for the cancellation fees and if I want to dispute it I have to call Thrifty!

How can a company email me and tell me one thing and then the customer service people tell me something completely different? This is the worst service I have EVER experienced in my entire life. I feel like a liar even though I have written communication from then stating "Not to worry"!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST ORGANISATION IN THE WORLD TO DEAL WITH!

Yes, rentalcars.com is a real scammers.
I have the same situation. I booked a car with them in Dubai airport. On arrival at the rental company counter - I found that I forget driver licence. I have paid before 1,400$ for two weeks rent. At the counter place I try to call to them (no body response). The counter wrote email to them. Answer from counter "You just need to go online and cancel the booking or phone them. By then, they should call us and verify the incident and the reason why it was cancelled. It is the first time we experienced such issues that the broker (rentalcars.com) are not calling us to verify the incident; push them a bit.
You've mentioned that my colleague has sent an email to rentalcars.com and yet we haven't receive a response. We will keep you posted once they drop us a line."

They have T&C:

The counter staff may refuse you the car if (for example):
O You don't arrive on time
O You are not eligible to rent the car
O You don't have the documentation you need
O The main driver doesn't have a credit card in their own name, with enough available funds for the car's security deposit.
If that happens, please call us from the rental counter to cancel your booking, and you'll receive a refund, minus the cost of 3 days of your rental. Otherwise, you won't be entitled to

A month has passed, I got a strange answer from them. They took my money. They are real scammers. No answers more. Be careful!

Terrible experience

We got a completely different car at arrival which was not of the same (or even similar) size and we couldn't fit in (4 adults + child in a car seat + luggage). We booked Hyundai Santa Fe and got Opel Crossland instead which has less space inside and has a two times smaller trunk. Moreover, the car we got was offered for half of the price paid by us. The car hire company informed us that they don't have a Hyundai Santa Fe in their offer at all and we should clarify it with RentalCars. I waited 45 days for a resolution of my claim to find out that the case was closed long time ago and rentalcars is unable to dispute the claim with the car hire company. They deliberately mislead customers to pay a higher price for a car which they will not receive. Their commission is around 30-40% of the total price and they cannot even offer customer service. I highly don't recommend booking with rentalcars. Terrible experience which destroyed our holidays.
