It is written that deposit is 500$ on the reservation website, but it was 1800$ at the counter! (Because I am a international customer ( everyone is!)). Do not use that site, they make money on false informations and the deposit they don't refund. SCAM
They manage to obtain cheap prices from the rental companies, but at the end of the rent these companies will always find a way to charge you for an extra and when you contact Rentalcars for support they will not take responsibility and tell you to contact the rental company directly. Watch out it looks cheap in the beginning but always very expensive at the end
Want to alert you to watch out for Rentalcars.com. When I went to Enterprise to pick up the car in Chicago, my $125. Voucher went up to $545! Even though I selected the option to pick up in Chicago and return in Springfield, the fine print at the bottom add addition charges for one way trips. Needless to say I was pissed! After a lot of discussion I was able to get the vehicle for $220. But still had the $125. Prepaid charge. I am protesting this charge with Visa right now. After this experience, I checked their reviews and they are pretty bad.
Received information from Rentalcars employees that was incorrect. As a result I was unable to receive the car I rented when I went to pick it up. I was unable to contact Rentalcars on the phone at the time, as I was kept on hold until 20.00, after which the line automatically disconnected. They subsequently refused a refund, claiming I had not attempted to contact them.
Through this service we rented a Citroen car in AVIS for a month on the island Gran Canaria for only 180 euros (we take it without insurance)! In the car did not work a cigarette lighter socket and we asked to change the car, we were given Honda Civic with automatic transmission! Super!

Cheaters. Stay away from them. I booked a car - changed my plans and few minutes later i tried to cancel- revise the booking.It wasnt possible, i lost my money. There was in hidden letters cancelation fee same ammount with my booking, so i lost all my money.
Used to be a loyal customer of the company. But lately, I experience too many errors once I arrive to pick up the car. The terms they agree with you do not appear at the provider. Typically it takes an hour of phone calls to solve the issue. It gets more frustrating when they offer you a discount on your next booking, but than offer a $6 dollar discount. An offer which is still 60% more than their competitors. While up to a few years ago they had an advantage over similar companies. It seems unfortunate that it doesnt provide anything but higher prices and a lame costumer service these days.
The flight was delayed, I arrived later than planned, the rentalcars service worked very slowly, I couldn't even get to the consultant after waiting in line for 2 hours. Tired from the flight, I chose to go by bus. After all that happened I was refused a refund. Would not recommend this company to anyone
Got to Miami airport late and the car was no longer available and no more were available. Called carrentals.com and was told they couldn't do anything. Was also told the car rental company was at the Miami car rental center but it was not. Have tried several times to get a refund and have been refused. I don't ever do bad reviews but I feel this one is necessary. Please don't use this company.

Buyer beware! Don't use. I Purchased car rental and prepaid insurance for car in UK. On arrival local rental told me insurance wasn't valid to take the car. Costly insurance replacement. Essentially trapped to pay more to get a car. Rentalcars had poor customer service and no interest in helping or refunding. According to local car employee it is a common practice.

They working with agency that require credit card, but when we booked a car via rentalcars.com few days before our trip they didn't ask for credit card.We paid with electronic visa.We lost all day and around 150€ to hear from customer support that this is our fault to not knowing something that is required from Goldcar agency but not mention from rentalcars during our reservation.
The check for that type of card is necessary because rentalcars don't work with agency that allows you to pay with electronic card or Revolut.
Finally we took a car from adduma agency that working with all kind of cards!

Tried to change drivers at pick-up and they could not edit my reservation info. So they wouldn't let us have the car. I had forgotten my license, but my husband (listed as secondary) had all his info. So they wouldn't let us have the car. No refund on a bill of almost $1000K. They said they'd give a refund for all but 3 days of the rental if I booked another rental with them (not this rental, since they had no cars!). I made a rental for another time this summer so that I could at least get some refund. Now they refuse to stand by what their chat room representative told me.
When we landed in SFO we were told they didn't actually have any cars, but would add us to the queue. I was told we'd have at least one hour to wait, but they couldn't guarantee a car that night. They also said I'd have to accept any car that came along - even though I had a large amount of photo equipment. The people at the counter directed me to Hertz, who quickly accommodated us for over twice the price. Rentalcars.com refused to refund my payment of over $670.00. When I called they connected me to a chatbot who insisted they couldn't do anything until I returned the car. Of course there was no car to return. Today i was told they will look into it and get back to me in 28 days - or, if necessary, longer than that. Never again!

I rented a car through Booking.com that ultimately processed my car rental through Rentalcars.com for a vacation in Colorado, when I went to the rental company to pick up the car they said they could not accept my pre-paid funds through Rentalcars.com and that I would have to pay for the car directly to them and request a refund from Rentalcars.com. The agent also said that this is a common problem. After my trip I contacted Rentalcars.com to request the refund and all I got was a run around with emails from some different every time they responded. Their customer service is basically non-existent. I'm sure they knew the pre-paid funds would not be accepted, that's how the scam works.
I would put less than a star but not possible. I had two problems in one booking and thanks by customer care system I have paid exactly like I could have had the service but without having it.

Some friends and I were going to rent a car in Europe. We found one through rentalcars.com in the south of France and went to go pick it up. Because of COVID, the expiration date of my driver's license had been extended by the State that I am from. They didn't accept it, however. We then tried to get the name on the booking changed to one of my friends (all of whom had valid licenses). But rentalcars didn't budge. The only option that they advised was to pay for the original car (200 euros) a cancellation fee (150 euros) and a new car (250 euros) if we wanted to get a car that day (total: 600 euros). Even though we all had licenses! So absurd. Stay away.
