I have made two bookings in Phuket with them, both fully paid, both cancelled by them in a few days. I have received my money back for the first booking they cancelled, but not for the second one.
They have wasted two weeks of my time, during which the prices have skyrocketed and the offerings have vanished. Thanks to their incompetence (or was it fraud to pump up the prices?) I have lost both money and booking.
Looks like they employ all the possible sleazy business practices where they hide behind dozens of legal documents to muddy up their liability for stripping you of your cash. You think you have a contract with them once you have paid their quote? Oh, no. They can cancel your booking at any time without any reasonable explanation and send you another quote with a higher amount. And so on till you are charged 10 grand for Toyota Yaris.

My reservation was cancelled by the ENTERPRISE company for some technical reasons at the time of car pick-up. They have immediately cancelled the reservation on the system. Car rental company DO NOT receive any money from the agency Rentalcars.com until the car is picked-up, therefore the money are held "hostage" in the pocket of the agency Rentalcars.com.
After the cancellation of the car, I was told to contact the agency for the reinbursement but rentalcars.com after 45 days still DID NOT return my money. I also provided them with official documents from ENTERPRISE to prove the cancellation, but still they don't take any action.
I have an open request, official, in the agency website for refund, and yet they never reply. I have contacted the bank to dispute the transaction because I lost my faith.
This people are just THIEVES, stay away, do not use their services. Use the website rentalcars.com to find your best car, but then visit the rental car company directly and use your credit card directly with them (even if you pay a little more).
By doing so, any reimbursement from the car rental will return to your credit card directly. No brokers or agency in between that can do everything they want unpunished by the law.
I reserved a car the 1st of December 2022 And was sent an email by them telling me that the car was no longer available and too choose another one. When I got to the airport in Costa Rica I found out that now I had 2 cars rented to my name, Even though I only had accepted and got the voucher for one of them. Now they owe me $675. I went to Vegas on a trip and had booked online. The choosen car rental place was Fox rental through Rentalcars.com. I booked and paid for everything online. Upon my arrival I found out that Fox no longer took Visa Debit cards and I didn't bring any credit cards with me. Long story short Rentalcars.com refused to refund me my money even though I never received a rental vehicle at all. So they're keeping money without providing services or goods.
Rentacars.com rented me a car in Korea, but did not inform me until two days before my flight from the U.S. that I had to obtain an International Driver's Permit (IDP). I've rented cars in Europe many times without this requirement. It wasn't until Rentalcars.com sent me a voucher two days before my flight that I would need an IDP. I tried in vain to get one online, but was informed that the rental car company would only accept a hard copy IDP. In any event, I tried to obtain the car at the airport but the rental agency refused to give me a car. Rentalcars.com has refused to give me a refund, and kept my $241 rental fee. They charged the $241 as a "cancellation fee," but at the time I tried to rent the car there was a lot full of similar cars. Rentalcars.com is an unworthy company and no one should attempt to rent a car from them.
If your plane is late, for whatever reason, you MUST contact rentalcars.com before the pick up time or your (prepaid!) booking will be cancelled. The paper rental voucher does not say this. I found out the hard way.
Unfortunatelly, this has been the worst experience I ever had so far in my life from a service company. I booked a car with rentalcars and while the full amount for the whole rental period has been charged, when I cancelled the booking (within the window od 48 hours) the customer rep told be that they where unable to locate my booking. I had to go back and forth looping around and repeating my self in every single correspondance (exchanged more than 30 e-mails) for them to manage to raise a ticket with their finance department for a refund. They have asked for and I provided the bank transaction recept for the amount charged. Still after one month they haven't refunded the amount and they told me that they cannot commit on a time frame and I have to be paient! I have informed them that if they dont settle the refund within a week's time ie end of November 2022, I will file a coplaint with the consumer protection authorities and will see each other in court.

Rentalcars.com did not have a van available. I then explained this to the them and the representative told me to cancel the booking and I would get my refund. I then canceled the booking and never got my refund. When I tried to enquire about my refund, they back tracked and said they would not refund me anymore. I lost almost $800 for a car I didn't even end up getting. This was the worst rental car experience I have ever had and will not be working with this website again.

I am not sure if this happens frequently between this third party and their rental partners, but rentalcars.com will not help you resolve these issues. I would avoid using these third party rental services in the future and just rent directly from the car rental entities themselves.

Do not rent from this company; they will nickel and dime you and charge you for things entirely out of your control. How am I supposed to contact a rental agency to let them know I'm running late while I'm in the middle of the air on an international flight that was delayed? And how can they NOT tell that I will be late when they HAVE my flight information? I booked a hertz cart trough rentalcars.com. After finding out i couldnt get the car due to not having an international drivers permit, i asked for a refund, they said there was a cancellation fee for the FULL AMOUNT, even though hertz cancellation fee is for 95 euros only...

We lost all day during our trip in Catania because of rentalcars online booking system.
They working with agency that require credit card, but when we booked a car via rentalcars.com few days before our trip they didn't ask for credit card.We paid with electronic visa.We lost all day and around 150€ to hear from customer support that this is our fault to not knowing something that is required from Goldcar agency but not mention from rentalcars during our reservation.
The check for that type of card is necessary because rentalcars don't work with agency that allows you to pay with electronic card or Revolut.
Finally we took a car from adduma agency that working with all kind of cards!

Worst booking site ever! I bought the collision insurance for the rental but the company (Routes) doesn't accept their insurance rendering me unable to rent the car. I had to scramble to use another car rental service. I then called rental cars.com and all they would refund me was the collision insurance and I lost the rest of my money for the 3 day rental. Customer service call was useless she kept reading off of a scripted card. Don't lose your money rent with someone more trustworthy
