In this day and age it seems that most all news outlets have agendas and mislead the readers. I would tend to believe the National Inquire or any other tabloid magazine before any article there. Any site that is not open to different points of view, deleting opposing views, and restricts free speech should tell anyone that this is a garbage (so-called) news site!
There is no doubt that raw story is a left leaning media outlet, and for that reason, it should never be your sole source of news, but they have stories that you will not find elsewhere. And to be clear, they are real stories, not made up crap intended to fire up liberals, you can generally trust what they publish.
The recent across the board rise of paywalls by the sites they pull their stories from so all the links have been blocked reduces the free use of this site unfortunately.
While I too have a leftward bent, knowing how liberal this site is makes me want to read the article their synopsis came from so I can understand the context and make a reasoned judgement from the actual real deal.
You cannot just depend on a synopsis no matter where your politics lay. A synopsis is just one person's opinion of the article and they will try to bend the synopsis according to their own biases.
This is true of many newsletters from various sources. It is coming down to just the wire services themselves to get the free version and a more neutral interpretations.
Like most, I was suspicious of the site at first, but the stories have proven true in every case I have read. I double check each story that sounds "to good to be true" but googling the key phrase and finding at least one reliable "other" source. Some days I do not find them. But in a day or two, it is being reported in one of those sources.
I haven't found any "3-headed babies" like RW tabloids where they proudly eschew fact-checking. Fact-checking is for limp wrist liberals...

Became a solid process after a while. Initially needed 3X log-in to clear ads, then been working fine. Now, new app for log-in is non-responsive... doesn't acknowledge entry (good or bad) and doesn't clear ads. Also, so way to communicate this issue except by this channel.
It's a good website. The stories are real, they're not fake. The problem as with a lot of websites is the comments section. If you support anyone besides Hillary Clinton you will get attacked in the comments section. Even if you supported Bernie you will get attacked. Even if the article has nothing to do with politics, you will get attacked for having supported Bernie. The majority of the people that attack you are bitter old women with cats as their avatar.
They banned me for saying something bad, but when I read others readers on there they weren't banned. They said far worse. Where do I go to ask them to take me off the ban list
Wow, they blocked me from their site and removed all my posts, none of which violated their "terms of service". Go figure. All I did was defend my position that a 4 minute video they posted did not provide enough information to come to any conclusion about whether a cop was racially profiling someone or not. That's it. I was called $#*!, moron, and all those posts remain up. Mine have all been removed and blocked! Dang. I hate censorship! Just for saying there's not enough information, then defending myself from the onslaught attacks.
RawStory allows zero disagreement. You can't speak out against top commenters, and you cant speak out against RawStory authors. The site will ban you. The moderators have too much control of the site. I would have been a paid member years ago if the site wasn't so screwy. I love most of what RawStory does, but you best check sources before sharing. Some of the writers of the site are off in lala land, and the moderators are near communist in how they moderate the site. Best to just share links if appropriate, and not even waste time trying to commuincate errors. If you communicate errors, you will be banned from this fascist site, and I say that as a liberal.
The comment section is completely made up of prejudice, and vile hatred.
No matter what the story is about, every other comment is about how they hate trump, and attempting to connect Trump, and conservatives in a bad light.
I sincerely tried having conversations with quite a few, but not a single one had the mental capacity to do anything beyond screaming out hatred

You'll notice immediately from the headlines how this website collectively focuses its perspective from a strictly liberal view. But what's worse is that they have a total disregard for free speech. They ban all dissenting comments from their talk back forums no matter how politely stated. Skim through the comments after each new story and they are all like-minded. If you find a single comment not in line with the rest you won't find it there tomorrow. If you're looking for discussion and information then find another site. If you enjoy a liberal echo-chamber then then site is for you.
Since the new format of Rawstory, all I get is severe crashing. I used to go to this site every morning because I liked the 2-3 paragraph stories that would brief me on the previous night's activities. I will be deleting Rawstory with regret. I can no longer stand having to reboot just because I clicked on a story.
Typos galore, gotcha titles of articles that don't reflect the title,
And sometimes, poor writing. After alerting them to typos a year ago, no change at all.
Total unreliable left extremism lacking any hard facts. They pick and choose quotes and mischaracterize what people actually say. Tabloids have more credibility than this rag.
Raw Story likes to present itself as hip and edgy. In reality they are thin-skinned and selectively punitive. People get away with a lot of really vile comments, but just try leveling even a gentle criticism of any of their policy and you might find yourself banned like I am. No great loss.
I used to read the articles on raw story and comment. Apparently they cannot handle the opinion of those who do not fawn on assange and trump. For no real reason i was banned by a invisible moderator. While foul mouthed users continue to post regularly. This site sucks. Its as bad as natural news where comments are "moderated" or censored for being truthful, yet foul mouthed cursing is approved. And suddenly people are worried about censorship because twitter banned a whining attention whore trump? Lets laugh.
Several years ago Rawstory was okay, had some interesting and accurate articles, but now they're kind of like a liberal version of Breitbart. I ended up blacklisting them after seeing one clickbait article after another. Even if there is a grain of truth in their articles, they are written specifically to push buttons, not inform. There are much better sources out there.
Im as progressive as they come. Yet if I dare point out anything that doesnt follow their narrative it will be deleted and all my posts wiped.
Examples: any Bernie posts & pointing out when the republicans do something its bad but when our corporate politicians do it they are silent. They only want an echo chamber not intellectual conversations.
My only regret in giving them 1 star is that is 1 star more than they deserve. They epitomize the notion that freedom of speech is only for those that agree with them. Post anything short of totally marching goose step for goose step with them and your comment will be deleted and you get banned. Their articles are so over-the-top absurd at first I thought if was just a liberal satire site.
I came across a story about Zimmerman and when I read through the comments, all I saw was hate comments about Zimmerman; how he got away with murder and how he should be killed. I didn't see a single pro-Zimmerman comment and after posting, I realized why. They don't like anyone with a difference of opinion commenting. I made a couple of posts. I did not attack anyone or use any vulgar language, but suddenly I was attacked by other commenters just before the moderator deleted all my comments and banned me from the site. What's the point of having a comment section if you can't even debate? Really stupid! Everyone is in agreement on that site because anyone who disagrees simply gets removed.
