Public Storage's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to steep and frequent price increases, inadequate customer service, and poor management responsiveness. Many customers report feeling neglected, with unresolved issues regarding billing and unit security leading to frustration. While some locations receive praise for their cleanliness and helpful staff, these positive experiences appear inconsistent. Overall, the feedback suggests a troubling trend of unprofessional practices and a lack of accountability, prompting customers to caution others about their experiences and consider alternative storage options.

Facility at 2200 Avenue K, Plano, TX The "1" rating is due to cost increases only. The facility is clean and team that works there has always been pleasant, professional and helpful any time I have had a question. They have been very helpful when I needed something. However, the cost of my units has gone WAY up AGAIN. I started with Public Storage in the early part of 2022. Cost was reasonable at that time. I had storage units in a different Public Storage facility back then. I ended up moving to another Public Storage facility as there was a very large price increase. Even ignoring the first Public Storage facility (which started at 267 & 218 in 2020 for my two units (10x20 and 10x30) ending at 425 & 271 in 2022), the costs have gone up: New facility - (4/1/2022 - 307 & 196) (11/2022 - 414 & 251) (5&6/2023 - 564 & 345) (2&3/2024 - 602 & 395) (2&3/2025 - 696 & 475). So, since 4/2022 - 10 x 30 has gone from $307 to $696. The 10 x 20 has gone from $196 to $495.
As a loyal Public Storage customer since 2017, I am extremely frustrated with the lack of professionalism I experienced with property manager Miranda. I formally complained about her behavior in March 2023 when she refused to answer my questions and spoke to
me in a condescending manner. Despite promises from corporate that my concerns would be taken seriously, nothing has changed.
While traveling for work in Boston, I encountered further issues when items scheduled for auction on December 24th were mishandled due to technical difficulties I had with payments on my larger unit. Miranda insisted I had to pay on time, yet I was unable to
make the payment because the system wouldn't accept it. Despite having the funds available, I missed the deadline.
When I finally reached Miranda after many attempts, instead of receiving help, I felt dismissed. I urgently asked her to contact the buyer of my items, which included personal documents, but she continued to avoid my calls and failed to follow through with
any assistance over the next several days.
After another week of attempts to reach her, I connected with a manager at a different location who quickly resolved my queries. This entire experience left me feeling disregarded by Miranda and Public Storage. Despite my many attempts at communicating, I have
not received any feedback from corporate or the district manager.
Overall, my customer service experience has been unacceptable. If you're considering using Public Storage, think twice. You may find yourself at a loss for words—or worse, for your belongings.
I was robbed
I was robbed! Apparently the tenant next to me breached the wall and came into my unit and emptied out my unit. Management repaired the wall and never told me that my unit was breached. When I asked management about the incident, the manager "Charles did not show any support. He just kept saying, " Contact your insurance carrier." I don't know how or when, but apparently it was raining in my unit. The few items that were not taken were covered with mold spores. Additionally, rat droppings and rat urine were present. Lastly, after I moved out, Public storage still goes into my account every month and take money.
They prorate the first month and not the last so that you pay the full month when you're ready to leave. I had a contract for about 2 years, the price started at $189per month when I left (24 months later) the price was $411 per month. They raised the price every few months once they have you in there. It's clean and are so your stuff won't get stolen but they'll rob you by taking your money legally.
Stay away from Public Storage. They will continue to raise your rates! In 25 months they have raised my monthly rate by 55% from $179 (trying to get you in the door) to $401! And this is just for a small 10' x 10' unit in Picket St in Alexandria VA. I contacted them asking for some release and they said, "NO". I've contacted the BBB and basically Public Storage is holding me as hostage since I'm not in VA at the moment and don't have any other options! I understand that prices do increase but not at 55% in 25 months. Also, they are advertising my same unit for $185 (on line). REMEMBER - that is just to get you in the door, then they will raise your rates!
Beware - Public Storage raises rents by over 20%/year and well above current market rates. My 87 year old mother didn't pay attention to rate increase notices and I found out that they had jacked up the price for a unit that normally goes for $430 to $987! And when I called them they were not at all apologetic. We will be moving out!
I haven't been able to get in my storage unit or speak to customer service to get any results, my unit is at at 5151 pike plaza Indianapolis, Indiana the property manager do not respond
My boat was robed different times wile was storage there, never had a response from them, was told that they are not responsible for that, never tried to improve the security with cameras or even a small light, and now after been tired in the last robbery took my boat out in the middle of the month, and they don't want to reimburse of the remaining balance of the full prepaid month in advance
RIP OFF!
I started my rental 4/2/23 with a (supposed to be) online special 10x25 for $160/month. May 23 the rent increased to $180! Then 3 months later in increased to $246. A few months later it increased to $294! Today marks one year I've been renting! Within one year my rent has increased $134 which is absolutely ridiculous! I called and spoke with someone in the escalation dept. She tells me they can increase the rent 6months-a year anytime with no cap on how much! Offered to reduce my rent back to $246/month for 3 months then it will go back to $294 and continue to increase as much as they want it to! You guys are r***** people! Your CUSTOMERS are the people that is keeping your business open! Regardless if it is a month to month basis, you shouldn't take advantage of this! I'm about to move my things and would not recommend anyone using storage facilities such as this one if you don't have to. Some people don't have a choice and these people feed off of that! It's outrages and I will be speaking with my friends at the city commissioner's office and some others to find out what we can do about these ludicrous contracts and these online promotional SCAMS!
Will never rent there again. Very unprofessional company. Rented multiple units for our business for more then 10 years. Found out they knew 6 months ago that they were going to do away with the size that I have and what do they do with minimal notice get your stuff and get out. When asked is it legal to basically kick me out without a 30 day notice I was told if we're doing it, it's legal. But it's only effecting one of your units they said. So your going to basically $#*! on a 20 year customer and expect me to keep the rest of the units with you? Ummm I don't think so. I will also leave a negative review on every internet sight that we can find to warn people of their poor business plastics. Public storage company has become my worst business story to tell my thousands of clients.
They raise their prices rapidly. From 110$ - 115$ over the last three years. I was getting billed on the 5th every month I check out on the 2nd and get charged for entire month. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
THE WORST customer experience:
- After Covid there are increases twice a year (wth?) They are harassing customers and raising rates every 6 months!
- Horrible and often rude phone staff
- Misleading and deceptive claims
- Try calling the 800 number, 10 -30 minutes to answer.
This company is nothing but bad vibes with everything they do. It is written everywhere "We respect customers" it's a total fraud!
I PROMISE YOU, YOU SHOULD NOT USE THIS COMPANY! BAD PEOPLE.
I was being charged a $40.00 fee for a $4.14 late that I paid the very next day I 've been a customer since 2019 Today I was Lucky enough to have Tonya help me, she is an absolute asset to Public Storage a great communicator very sweet and polite and best of all she took the time to listen to me which the last person i spoke to didn't and claimed to be the manager. The district manager also helped and was nice enough to waive the $40.00 fee it's nice to know these people care so thank you to Tonya who needs to be promoted to manager and Thanks to the district manager for understanding it is a good place.
The system goes throught clitches on purpose so that they can run you bill high then threaten to take you stuff to public auction while disputing it. Beaware! There are other public units that don't steal customers money.
After going to location at 1650 Oakland Park Blvd to inform them about moving out I was told I have to move out my items, once I did it was the 3rd and was told i would have to pay for the month of February which I was not happy about but agreed i would pay. I later received a call tfrom a Natasha to say that I need to make my payment or my account would go to collections because the unit was vacant. I did not understand because it was not pass the 6th and there was no balance due. My unit price was also increased for the month of March. I felt arrested. Very poor customer service.
I was helped by Paula at the Gilbert location on Power Rd.
Paula was awesome she made the whole process easy smooth.
Thanks Paula
As a long-term customer of Public Storage, I've been bewildered by the recurring increases in my monthly rent every six months. I'm struggling to understand the rationale behind these frequent hikes, which have amounted to a staggering 35% rise in just half a year. Isn't this crazy? Most concerning is the lack of a transparent standard for these increases.
I've been met with disheartening responses when discussing this with the manager. Instead of addressing concerns, His suggestion was to seek cheaper storage options elsewhere. The manager said that the price will be increased every 6 months. This makes me feel very frustrated and insecure!
No matter what size the storage is, there should always be a standard price, right? There must be at least a standard percentage for increasing the monthly rent, right? They didn't. The practice here is that the longer you rent, the monthly rent will keep rising. This is the most infuriating.
For the same size storage as mine, the price listed on their website is the same as the monthly rent I pay. The difference is that they give new customers one month's rent free. In comparison, not only is there no discount for me, a long-term customer, but the rent is also increased by 35% within 6 months. This is my fifth price increase. Isn't it too outrageous? What business philosophy is this? Other merchants will give long-term customers more favorable prices, but the Public Storage not only didn't offer any discounts to old customers, but also crazily increases prices for the long-term customers. It doesn't make sense! Isn't this a money grab?
The consistent surge in rent solely is frustrating. They don't value their long-term customers. Their price increases are clearly aimed at long-term customers. This is the tricks how Public Storage make money. Consequently, I've had no choice but to terminate my lease and move out.
A great platform, this website is very safe for trading, Quotex The coming days will bring a lot of good future for us
Thank you so much for all your help. Carmen. Tiffany were so kind. John went above and beyond to help my family and me during this difficult time of moving. He is amazing and made the day run so smoothly with his care support and kindness. Thank you John. Thank you so much. Love Isabel Mack and Izzy.
Be careful people, if you rent from public storage, even if you rent even one day of the month they will charge you for the whole month and then rent the same unit to someone else getting double rent for the same unit which should be illegal, DO NOT rent from bad companies like this
Answer: They will find a way to charge you for anything. And they will charge fees in which they will take you to collections for. They are a really greedy company
Answer: No, and they will charge you for a spec of dirt left.
Answer: Just post a review on Google Maps andwrite a review about your experience at any business
Answer: The longer you stay the more you pay period. Depends on how much value they put on a hot active size rental.
