I have been dealing with Dean, the manager since 2014. Back then, it was just for a mouthpiece. I received it under 1 week without incident. Fast foward to May of 2020. I wanted to purchase a very high end Alto Saxophone. I purchased it on the Website and received a call from Dean the very next day, explaining because of the pandemic, there is going to be a delay and doesn't know when it will be in. Without me asking, Dean said he was going to leave it on order, and refund my payment, and when he gets word, he will contact me. Three weeks later, Dean called me and told me it's on the way. Now, after I ordered the sax, I saw many scathing reviews that just had me scratching my head. I recieved the sax the very next week. All along, Dean was in contact with me along the way. I never brought up the bad reviews, but I was puzzled. I own my own business and I have a keen sense of reading people. Dean was always in communication and extremely honest. So, 3 months later, I bought a very high end Tenor sax and received that without any issue. Three months later, I purchased a very high end Soprano sax and once again, absolutely no issues what so ever! And just last month, I ordered the final piece of the Yanagisawa Bronze Elite collection, the Baritone and received it just yesterday. All of these horns were purchase through Dean of Pro Winds without any issue at all. Dean was always in contact with me. I have spent 30k on saxophones with Dean, and lot's of accessories. I never has a worry or concern. Dean often offered very good technical advise. I truly believe that any negative reviews or comments, must be from competition or from people that are conditioned from the 2 day shipping from Amazon. Most of the horns Dean sells are made to order and are for the serious player. Pro Winds has earned my trust for any future purchases.
I ordered a Cornet mouthpiece. Prowinds had the best price. I Received it in 2 weeks. A little slow in my opinion but I wasn't in a hurry.
When I had come across Pro Winds, I immediately checked reviews and did an extensive search online, because that would be the appropriate thing to do when ordering from a company I had never previously done business with. You can never be too sure when ordering online, always check a seller's credibility. Upon searching and reading reviews of Pro Winds I was interested in the odd business practice that seemed to be selective customer care. Others gave one star reviews, citing lack of transparency, contact, or an semblance of good business practices that a company should be expected to have. Now, I usually give the benefit of the doubt, so I read the five star reviews. And it had seemed that I was reading about an entirely different business. Nothing but accolades beyond compare, several claims of excellent customer service and timely order processing. This dynamic, the fact that the reviews are entire split 50/50, is obviously a red flag. It's not the fact that we're talking about good reviews vs bad reviews, it's that quite literally that half of the reviews are claiming fraud, while the other half is citing exactly the opposite in any regard. There seemed to be hardly any constructive reviews that objectively gave a two, three, or four star review. Only a handful. It makes me wonder if, perhaps, these five star reviews are falsified in order to appear to give better ratings for Pro Winds. (I say this about the 5 star reviews because my personal experience leads me to believe that the 1 star ratings are accurate as a portrayal of Pro Winds business practices) Disclaimer, I'm not claiming that is what has happened, I'm merely stating that it's been seen before. Think what you will about it. So, I figured if my odds of receiving an order from ProWinds is 50/50, I better not order from them at all. Better safe than sorry. However, after some searching, I had found that the only place that sold a particular product I was looking for happen to be ProWinds. So, much to my chagrin, I mulled it over, and finally came to the decision to test the odds. Fortunately, it was only 50 dollars, but that's enough money to warrant extreme annoyance in the event that I didn't receive what I had ordered. So I bit the bullet. Long story short, after waiting a month or two, I decided to call and email several times and never received a response. It's been 21 months, just 3 months shy of two years and my order is still "pending." Folks, save your money. I've never written a bad review (albeit, this really isn't my opinion, it's my objective recollection of my experience with pro winds), so if I attest to their poor business practices, that should speak volumes in and of itself.
My saxophone shipped really fast was cheaper than I saw other places. Would shop here again.
