Could not register my card $500.00
Whole paycheck. It was compromised and they'd send me a new card in 10 to 14 days! I couldn't get anything out of this card. I turned on the tears and sobbed even when on hold. I got my new card in a week to the day.
I am FURIOUS I got caught in this scam! I hope someone can learn from this and not get duped before it is too late. I threw my bad card away, as instructed! I just found this site today weeks later.
I bought my partner a $100 gift card in 12/2021. We opened the card last moth and it only had a $10 balance. There were 2 charges made in 1/2022 at Big Lots and Arco in California (we live on the East coast). The charges were odd amounts, but they both total $90. I called and reported it and was told that it would take 90 days to investigate (why 90 days?). A week later they called and said that they were sending me a new replacement card. The replacement card was the same number as the original and had a $10 balance. Called them back and "Joe" at a call center in India hung up on me. I am completely convinced that these people are the theives. Where is the oversight? There is absolutely NO accountability or regulations to protect the consumers from these scammers!
I just bought a card 10 mins ago from Smith's. Went to activate it before leaving the store only to not be able to online. So I give them a call to see what's going on. I was told that my card had some suspicious activity prior to me buying the card and that's why it's not working and it won't work at all. They claim they will send me a new one but it'll take 1-2 weeks. I needed that money NOW! Bills don't wait. I'm so beyond pissed and stressed about this. Not okay at all. They should NOT be selling compromised cards to the public! I asked her what they are doing to fix this or prevent it from happening, she didn't give me a straight answer and tried dancing around it so, in other words. Nothing. They are doing absolutely nothing about it and don't care. Not ok. They won't refund your money either. Your only option is to wait and hope a new card makes it to you.
I got gifted a card from here a few months back for my birthday, and boy when I first tried to login so I could set it up for online it didn't work. So I kept trying and absolutely nothing happened to the point that I got locked out. I call them up for support telling them what's going on, and they DID unlock it but still never fixed my issue of not being able to log into it. Told me just wait for a few days for it to activate as they thought was the problem. But even doing that I (once again) still could not log in. After that I just decided to call up later in the month to ask if I could get a replacement card since the one I got wasn't working. They "got everything setup and were ready to deliver it to my home" as I had to wait up to 30 days for it. 30 days go by and I received no card in the mail at all. So I then call up again telling them I never received it, and asked once again for them to send me a replacement card, but this time double checking to see if they got my address correct before doing so. They got it wrong a few times as I had to correct them til they finally got it right and "delivered it" again. But guess what… Still no card! I'm upset and feel bad because my family just got scammed $50 as the support team was no help at all! Bro do not buy from dis $#*!ty $#*! website, check the back of these gift cards before you buy them.
Today I went down to the local QFC (a Kroger company) and got a $100 Mastercard gift card because I wanted to buy something online and didn't completely trust the website. After getting home, I tried to activate the card, 4 tries and then I called. Was told that the card was already used 6 months earlier. They got my information and was going to send me a replacement card that would take 7-14 days.
Not wanting to have to wait up to 2 weeks to make my purchase, I went back to the QFC store and this time I got a Visa gift card, figuring that if I change from Mastercard to Visa and a different type, that would make it unlikely that it would happen again. I was wrong, once again I could not register the new card, so I was back on the phone. Sure enough, this card was also used several months ago.
So, now I have spent $200, still can't use the cards to buy something online and must wait up to 2 weeks to get the replacement cards. NEVER AGAIN will I buy a gift card. If they can't figure a way to prevent wide fraud and keep cards secure, it's time for them to go.
I work in a grocery store where these cards are sold, now I will tell every customer that wants to buy a card my story and warn them to think twice before buying that gift card.
My son received 2 gift cards for his bday. Each card was bought at a different location and both were supposedly compromised. It's a scam. SEC needs to step In a shut this company down
Received gift card. NEVER been able to register. NEVER been able to reach customer service. Received as a gift. If ever received in the future will return to the purchase store and get cash.
I have been a US Bank customer for 15 years. I overdrafted my account this month due to many financial but I always take care of it at the beginning of the month. I therefore could not use my checking account to pay my car note. I borrowed $200.00 from a friend and went to Kroger and purchased this card. I thought it was the same as the others. IT IS NOT. First, you can't get cash back. You can't use an ATM and worse when I tried to pay my note to Capital One... it came back three times as "invalid merchant". I called the first night and inquired why and was told the registration takes a couple of hours to take. I tried again the next day... 3 times, with the same message. I called this company over 20 times today and they said they could not take the call due to multiple traffic. I finally got someone tonight, who informed me they were doing maintainece on thier site and he could not give me any information and to call back in the morning. He did say, I could take it to US bank and they would transfer the money to one of thier Gift cards but I don't believe it. I will try in the morning. I also called US Bank fraud division and they transfered me to thier card services who said they did not maintain or issue the card. I told her that it says right on the bank ISSUED BY US BANK NATIONAL ASSOCIATION. She said she didn't know anything about it and could do nothing and for me to call US Bank back... which I intend too. I am giving you fair warning... not all of these visa debit prepaid cards are the same, I have had others and never had such trouble. DONT GO HERE. Hope this protects someone else.
Received three gift cards. Went online to register them and each one gave me an error message to call customer service. I have called customer service about 20 times over the past week. Every call gives me a message that they are "receiving higher than normal call volume" and then hangs up on me. The person that gave me the cards asked me if I enjoyed the cards and I had to lie to them. I do not want them to know that they wasted their money. VISA should be ashamed at having their name linked to this.
This place is a SCAM! I wish I would have thought to read reviews before purchasing! They stole my 500 dollars! Card kept getting decline even though I literally did everything they told me to do during my 5 different phone calls! They were very rude and unprofessional over the phone! Now I am in a bind!
Have a $50 gift card that I forgot about in a Christmas card from a few years that I found as I was going through my things. Went online to check the balance and it said the CVV code is wrong and to call customer service. I called them and said my name could not be verified. What? Then they told me to FAX over the purchase receipt, a government issued ID, a pic of the card front and back, my phone number with a note that states that I am requesting proof of ownership and to register the card under my name. Who keeps purchase card information? Like seriously, it's just a scam "gift" card that I am surprised stores actually sell. Reading other reviews has me feeling that all these stories are the same with the shady business tactics of this organization. Also, their website is pure garbage.
I got a $150.00 gift card from Smith's Grocery store. I gave it to my mother in law and when she went to use it it had already been used. And now I can't get in contact with any one on the phone number they put on the card. So pissed off that these companies get away with this.
This was a gift and I decided to use it on line it was declined. So it said instore purchase only "DECLINED" plus the card has an end date. So, I am ready to use it. Horrible wait time on the phone ( one hundred ninety six 196 people ahead of me on hold)
I am waiting because I want to use my card before it expires. It wants me to give last 4 digits of my Social Security number to register... why? It is a debit gift card. This card is trash!
Purchased at Harris Teeter in mid June, and unable to use at all. $150 down the toilet. Filed a complaint. Tried unsuccessfully to call the company. Florida. Figures. The toilet of the nation.
My sister purchased this gift card from Krogers for my birthday. I had to register the card before making a purchase, but then the card didn't work. I called Customer Service and they said the card had been compromised and they will send me a new card. When I received the new card, I noticed $5.95 was deducted for a lost/replacement card. I should not have been charged for a lost/replacement card since the card had been "compromised" before I received it. Customer service who could bearly speak English said she couldn't verify the location therefore she was unable to reimburse me the $5.95 fee. I will tell my siblings to only give me cash on future birthdays. Please beware of this company.
Fraud scam. prepaidgiftbalance.com Got a gift card as a present and when logging in to prepaidgiftbalance.com shows balance of zero and the card was used two years prior yet shows it was created recently.
The company prepaidgiftbalance.com is a SCAM. They are re issuing the same card numbers over and over again and selling to people.
DO NOT EVER USE prepaidgiftbalance.com
This site is poorly made and it can log you out every time u enter your card number. It let me in again after I changed the location of my device. I wanted to purchase stuff online but it kept saying my card was declined. I decided to link my card to paypal and it finally worked. Your giftcard needs to have the same billing address as the one in your paypal and it should work. Mines declined at first but at the second attempt it accepted it. I was able to purchase stuff online.
I bought a gift card worth of 110 dollars and it worked for 2 of my purchase but then it stopped working and said that my card is expired and that there is something wrong with the CVV I tried to get help in the website which told me to put in the 16 numbers in my card and the CVV it still won't let me logged in so I tried calling them which didn't help and right now I still have $49 worth of money still in the card that I can't spend!
I purchased a VISA gift card from Kroger in Lawrenceville GA as a gift for my niece. Sent her the GC and it was declined when she went to use it. She checked the balance and was told told it had a $0 balance. I luckily saved my activation slip but Kroger said there was not thing they could do because their system showed my purchase was approved. I called prepaidgiftbalance and they said the card did not load properly. I had to fax a copy of the card, my receipt and a copy of my driver's license? To them! I faxed the requested info but blacked out all the information on my DL except my name and address. I called a week later to check on the status of the card balance and was told they could not process because information on my DL was not legible. Why would they need to see anything other than my name and address. Something just does not feel right with them. I have now filed a dispute with my bank against the purchase from Kroger. DO NOT BUY gift cards from this company. I ended up just sending my niece cash. I hope this will not be a total loss.
What a scam. They make it so much trouble and almost impossible to activate that a person will give up, they're making some serious profit on selling these cards. Fax a copy of all documents to include receipt with copies of a government issued ID to activate? Really?
Answer: I've been on hold for over a half hour and I honestly don't think anyone is going to answer. This is unbelievable
Answer: When you buy at the store it will be activated by the casher, if you have problem go back to store with your receipt and they will fix. You know you should always get a receipt for giftcards!
Answer: From my experience you generally don't need to register a giftcard for instore use, only for online or other types of purchases.
Answer: Contact customer support number. Wait time... varies. Theyll help you register your card without having to deal with the janky website (if the wait times arent 2 hours of course)
