These cards which are sold in Kroger's and their other stores are scams or some cards are. How and where the scam begins, that I am not sure as there a few theories. But I would not be surprised if the customer service is in on it.
You may buy these and they load fine but they are are subpar at best when it comes to actually using them.
The card I had activated at Krogers at the register. But when it was registered for online use on the website it was immediately flagged.
Hackers/Scammers by have the system that USBANK uses or maybe customer service turns is doing something because they are way too dismissive, rude, and very aggressive at the most simple inquiry. They also will like like it's nothing to get you off the phone. Once they get you off the phone after you have input your card number and the 3 digit code, they will block your card and number. You can't check the balance anywhere not on their online site or on the phone. The customer service number will pick up the phone and hang up on you if you try to call back.
On the website, it directs you to fill out an online form if you card is lost or stolen. That link hasn't worked for weeks but instead directs you to call into their scam-like customer service line. Very shady practices by US Bank is the the issuer of these cards.
One card I got had a holographic film over the bar code where you scan it at a check out or register. Something I have not seen on other gift cards.
I really wish someone would investigate this USBANK and their practices. I don't know how they aren't aware of non-ethical their customer service is which is why they are bold enough to take people's balances, or try not to help people or pretend by telling you something to get off the phone, only to block the number and the card.
1- They may tell you they are fixing the card and give it 30 minutes, only for it to be lie.
2- If you call back, they may read some literature that has nothing to do with your issue and may say that it's blocked for 12 hours.
3-When you call back they may say no it wasn't 12 hours it was actually 24 hours only for it to be a lie
4- They may say, you put in your three-digit security code wrong too many times. But if you have your pin, you can use it in the store if it doesn't need the three-dgiit code. Only for it to be lie
5- They can block your IP address, phone number, gift card number so you can't call and inquire about any issues.
6-The website may or may not work at any time. You use to be able to submit your ID for lost and stolen cards. As of today, they direct you to call their scammy customer service located in a foreign country. Who may sound like they have a disdain for you for having the audacity to ask where the money went that you used to purchase the card for yourself or for others.
Beware, and report to as many agencies and places that you can.
All the cards can't be tampered or depleted because that's too much of a red flag. So some may have issues and some may not. I am leaving this here for the ones who may have issues.
The holidays are coming soon. And these things are in abundance in Krogers so I expect more people being taken advantage of. Witht hem listening to just enough not be be flagged like they should be since this has been an issue starting years ago.
The amount lost was $400.00. Yet to be restored. If you can't get any help, I would file complaints with an applicable government agency so that there is a collective effort to get them on the radar for fraud and mishandling of people's money and trust.

I don't usually do to many reviews which I'm actually trying to do more of Incase they help someone out So that said... Over that last year I've received and bought a few gift cards but this so far is hands down the worst company to deal with and when they work they are ok but I'm actually waiting on around $950 worth of replacement cards as we speak if you get irritated or show any kind of frustration or give an attitude they hang up and seems like block your number and it can take up to 24 hours before you can call back to talk to someone and I'm not rude or swear or anything like that simply sigh and really and click they were gone I tried calling back 10 times getting a recording saying due to high call volume we can't answer your call really how convenient I'd rather get a recording that says f you try another day but customer service is a joke depending on who you get some of the people actually try to help you and honestly care but most of them on the other hand that is not the case your bothering them for calling because you some how had fraud happen which really happens a lot with these cards I mean a lot I've had 5 I can think of off the top of my head and it takes week and a half 2 weeks for a replacement card which kind of sucks when you buy a card to pay a bill or take care of things around the house so you buy the card go home and run the card and declined declined you go online and it's already been used how did someone know or figure out the exact amount that was just loaded and used on this card and used it in under 10 minutes so either I either have really bad dumb luck or someone has some kind of scam running in the back ground somewhere because now I have to go back to store and buy another dumb card but I would not use this company unless they are the only one left but until then use vanilla is decent gift card mall I haven't had any problems with and customer service is nice even when your being an idiot and not paying attention to what your doing and they are nice and polite about it which is getting to be harder and harder to find if you go well anywhere outside your house customer service doesn't seem to be much of a priority just be careful and don't get it for anything important if you get one of there cards just make sure it can be put it off for 2 weeks until after you get a replacement card unfortunately well I hope this helps some folks out good luck

Two days ago, I got a free debit gift card from my work. It was in the package and everything. My boss said nothing about it being activated or not, so I just assumed (like a normal person) that it hadn't been. This morning, I go to my computer, unpackage the card, and go to the website to activate it. I get told that there's an error with the card and to contact customer support. The fact that they don't have an Email is annoying enough as it is but I suppose that's to avoid personal information getting leaked?
Regardless, I call the number provided and this woman talking a mile a minute answers the phone. I understand that it may come across as racist somehow to say but her accent made it very hard to understand what she was saying. If you are going to be answering the phone for an English-speaking service, can you please talk more clearly and slowly? She was rapid-firing through the conversation and following what she was saying was a pain. She was very impatient and every time I would interject (which I did maybe... twice), she would pause with a brief "mhm" and then restart from where she left off, ignoring whatever question or prompt I had.
She kept repeatedly asking for my name and address which is fine the first couple times but she kept telling ME to slow down and more clearly give my information. I must have repeated my information seven times throughout the call. I wasn't speaking quickly and I kept speaking slower and slower. The weirdest part was when she asked for my first name AGAIN and I gave it... only for her to ask something like "Okay sir, but I need you to tell me your first name." I just sat there baffled for a moment. I had just told her my first name and only my first name.
They didn't even give me time to find out WHY my card wasn't working, what the balance was, or even ask if I wanted to have the card deactivated. She just did it immediately before I could say anything against it and now I have to wait 14 days max for a card to be delivered? She kept apologizing rapidly for the inconvenience with the card but that doesn't exactly make the situation better. She didn't ask if I needed anything else or if I was satisfied or anything. She just rapid-fired something barely coherent to me--I interjected in between this last bit and she ignored it--then immediately hung up. I THINK she said something about an app but I'm really not sure. It just comes across as very shady.
Based on these other reviews I've seen, I'm concerned about the money coming through at all but I guess we'll see in 14 days. I guess it's a relief that it wasn't my money getting stolen but I'm sure my boss won't be happy to find out he got potentially scammed.

This is going to be a long review so be prepared. To start off i got this giftcard sealed from my job worth $100. I planned on using this for a little extra Christmas shopping and had everything in the cart ready for check out. When attempting to use the card it declined. Well i thought it was because i was trying to use online and didn't register it. So i go online to register and it says the card was not recognized. So i was directed to speak with a customer service rep. After waiting 30 minutes on hold i finally connected to a live rep whom i couldn't understand because her English was broken. Fine... however she informed me the card had charges on it already from a Cafe not even located in the same state i was in. To make things right she spoke with a sup who couldn't understand how a brand new card was being used before activation. So they decided to waive any fees and expedite a card to me. This took me two weeks to receive the new card which i was told wait 5 business days. I gave it 2 weeks called yet again and they requested another card to me. This was a nightmare in it's own. The rep i spoke with said the card was under a different name. So again spoke with another sup and they determined the rep didn't do her job correctly and was looking at the wrong account. Same day the new card was received which it had already been deactivated. So yet another 2 weeks go by and i finally received the new card. I go to activate it and now it's telling me that the CVV does not match the card! Beyond upset i yet again call customer service and wait an hour to speak with someone. When i'm finally connected I get a young lady named Gene (if that is her real name). She answers the call whispering to someone else and began laughing. I reply to her with Hello at least twice. I understand the job is stressful and sometimes you get caught up in conversation with your peers as i work in the telecommunication business however this was completely professional. She then asked to place me on hold yet another 5 minutes while she collected herself. I explained that the card has the wrong CVV on it and the card wont register. She gathers my information and tells me try again tomorrow your card is locked because you keep putting in the wrong CVV. Okay Gene i have checked my CVV many times and the problem is the card not the way i am putting the info in. I asked for a sup and was denied... First off the agents do not know how to listen. They are completely rude, cut you off, escalate what should be a simple fix and order yet another card. I got irritated at this point and disconnected. My main issue is why it's taking them so long to get their S*** together, put agents on the phone whom speak English and can problem solve and ask the necessary questions. So yet again i will be waiting another hour after work to get this resolved and probably another month to get a card that doesn't work. They were quick to take the money but can't get it right. My advice is to never buy cards from this company

75 dollar gift card
Where do I start. I went to purchase a (9806 Gaston Road, Katy, TX- 12/5@8:03am with Jaquelyn) $300 gift card for the fuel points yesterday. Which I should have received 1200 fuel points as my coupon for 4x fuel points was redeemed yesterday... but my account is not reflective of this. Which is the best part of my complaint!
After purchasing the gift card (a visa gift card), I asked the cashier if I needed to activate it, and she assured me that it was ready to go. So I headed to run errands, because I know it can take some time (like 30 min) to actually work. Used it once at the dollar store for a small purchase and worked fine! Then go back to Krogers to do my big grocery shopping trip and spend an hour loading my cart! Only to get to the register and it won't work! After a call to the CC company they assured me for some reason a hold was put on the card, she didn't know why. They reset my card and I was assured that in an hour it would work! Very embarrassing but ok I understand things happen. So I wait over an hour call the company to confirm I should be good to go so I stopped at the gas station to make a small purchase to check to see if card would work... and it did! So great I head off to Krogers AGAIN, spent an hour of my time filling my cart! Only to get to the register... and guess what? I DIDN'T WORK AGAIN! So after a phone call to the credit card company again... which I am in tears at this point. They explain that they don't know why but it should work? What the heck... so frustrating! After persisting to talk to her manager she puts me on hold and then comes back and says that there is a 24 hr hold on my card... but the 'good' news she said was I could use my card as a credit card face to face transaction in 20 minutes! So here I sit at the blood pressure cuff machine waiting for 20 mins! They tried to run it again after the 20 minutes and no luck!
So I went home and waited a couple of hours go Brookshire Brothers to make a small purchase and test the card again! Didn't work!
So I called back for the 3rd time now and was told again that for some reason a hold was on it and after finally getting nowhere with the agent I asked to speak to a manager. Finally a manager comes on and assures that they will have to working within 1 hour. So I give up for the day and head home with no groceries and wasted more than half of my day!
So I get up this morning and stop to get gas, works fine! So headed to Krogers loaded my cart again... only to be declined again! I didn't split payments and I had more than enough money to cover the balance! So I called again to the CC company and seemed to finally get someone who had a clue! Turns out can't use at places like "Krogers, walmart, Target) without registering the card! This was a massive breakdown on employee education at Krogers and also the CC company! I didn't have to go thru all of the Embarrassment & Stress yesterday if the cashier was educated on this matter and answered my question correctly as well as the credit card company as well! I am writing this because I don't want another person to go through what I did yesterday! And also because Krogers is promoting these gift cards to save a few dollars... and ended up costing me money, Gas, time, frustration & stress!
