Photobucket went from useful to suddenly deciding that they won't allow hot sharing (exactly what I used to use them for) unless I pay them. This is the single stupidest move they could have made. Way to piss off literally_all_ of your users.
Nope. Done. So many other far superior options available.
If it's not all the ads popping every which way on my computer screen, it's the fact that they now require you to pay for linking your photos to a third-party site. Including previously linked photos. As others have already mentioned, this is nothing less than scandalous, a ransom for photos from years and years stretched across thousands of webpages.
I remember a time when Photobucket was FREE. It didn't even have ads and, if it did, they were minimal. A few here and there isn't even an issue, but when it starts to bog down my computer because of how much crap is trying to load all at once, I'm sorry, but you've hit rock bottom, my friend. Rock bottom.
Now I'm forced to stare at all those stupid Photobucket error messages which serve as constant reminders of how a once brilliant online company sank to the lowest point they could.
Been using them forever and now that they want to charge $400 a year to use the site? Not $40! Yes...$400! Have these people flipped their lid? For a photo hosting site I might add. Luckily I have all my photos saved on flash drives. I'm done with phot bucket. Any company the screws their customers can stick it where the sun don't shine.
I would think twice not only about giving this company any money, but even using a free account as they do not care about security or you as a consumer at all.
My account was hacked and private photos made public. I understand these things can happen and tried to nicely resolve the issue with Photobucket.
They blatantly ignored emails and stopped communicating with me on Facebook. I have filed an official complaint with the BBB (they have an F grading btw) and if that doesn't resolve the issue I will have to hire legal help which is ridiculous since it would probably take them about ten minutes to fix the issue.
Worst customer service EVER.
I have had a Photobucket account since 2008. They charge by capacity and are happy to sell you more storage. But... Downloads frequently duplicate or triplicate the photo and there is no program to clean out the extra pics. Sounds like a conflict of interest.
Also, even though I pay and have all my photos marked private, PB goes through my pictures and deletes what they think is improper without giving me an opportunity to rescue what may be the only copy of an important picture. I dont download porn, but I never even get a chance to see what PB has deleted.
Then there is the scrambling of timelines and having to hunt through 1000's of pics to locate a pic from last week when it turns up back with the 2009 pics
I really am unhappy with Photobucket
I loved using photobucket for many years and really didn't have very much on the website. I wasn't at max, certainly. And suddenly I'm being threatened and hassled every day to pay yearly or monthly or else. No thank you. I don't join companies that work using threatening tactics.
I have been with Photobucket since 2008 - lately it is so ad infested that pages won't load, image editor won't load, it pulls and lags my computer. Photobucket has gotten greedy and forgetting main rule in customer service and advertising. Limit ads, be careful of ad placement and remember where you came from. I think the FCC needs to investigate them for false advertising and click through boosting. They place popups so that users click accidently just so photobucket can get their commision from the click through. PATHETIC - I am looking for an alternative and will be removing my files and closing my account
I was a customer since Photobucket first started online and I had no issues with my account for many years. One day I went to log into my account and got a message that they no longer offered free accounts and if I wanted my photos I had to purchase a plan for $5. This is ridiculous! I was a customer for many years and this is how they treat you for being a loyal long time customer? I paid the $5 just so I could access my photos and get them removed from their website and then I got another message saying I was over my allowed storage limit and I would have to pay more money to upgrade to a higher plan if I wanted to see my photos. Are you kidding me? I reluctantly paid to upgrade my account. When I was finally allowed to log into my account a lot of my photos were missing! I contacted Photobucket about this issue and they were no help at all. They said that all of my photos were in my account and they do not delete photos from customer's accounts unless they're asked to do so upon deletion of the account. Where did my photos go then?! Who knows. I never got my photos back. So they took my photos hostage and made me pay twice and still didn't let me have access to all of MY photos. This is not a good way to treat your customers! I would stay away from Photobucket for storing photos because they may decide to take them hostage or your photos may disappear and you'll never see them again.
I signed up with PhotoBucket when they first started in 2003. It was free to sign up and to upload your photos and their terms & agreement stated that your photos would be stored safely and that the company would never delete your photos without your consent. That was apparently a lie. I received an email today with no prior emails from Photobucket that said my account had been "Deactivated " because they "No longer support free accounts." The email said if I wanted my photos back I would have to pay them. I do not think this is legal and it definitely is morally wrong! I had trusted Photobucket because their own terms stated that photos would NEVER be deleted without my consent and nowhere in the terms did it say that my photos would be held hostage by Photobucket suddenly without warning and that I would have to pay a fee for access to my irreplaceable photos which had been uploaded to my account which never required a fee the entire time I had the account since 2003. I have irreplaceable memories in my account of my children, family members & friends that have passed away that are now stolen away from me by this company. How can these people sleep at night knowing they've taken people's irreplaceable memories and stolen pieces of their lives from them? Photobucket gave no prior warning about doing this so that I could download the photos myself and then remove my whole account from their website.Instead they pulled a cowardly move and deactivated my account without notifying me until they had already done it and then had the nerve to demand payment if I wanted my own photos back. Bad business! They deserve 0 STARS!
Cheers for rendering all of my images completely useless with your watermark and paywall, Photobucket. I can understand adding the watermark, but blurring the images rendering them 100% illegible is absolutely absurd. You've made the entire Internet angry, I hope you crash and burn.
The decision to rape every one of your customers using your site for 3rd party hosting only makes sense if 1) you are are stupid, malicious, psychotic, etc, 2) it was done intentionally to drive all those customers and their photos off your storage systems, or 3) both. My bet is on 3). You were too stupid and unimaginative to figure out to make money from your 3rd party hosting customers, so you maliciously tried to drive them all away. My guess is that you concocted this asinine plan because you could not legally just delete everyone's content. You had to make everyone remove their photos voluntarily and delete their accounts. Way to lead with your d! Ck.
Flipped from free to $400 a year on no notice. What guarantee that they won't double or triple that in the future, or change some of the other terms of agreement? Not worth the risk, untrustworthy company.
The add are ridiculous, they could not make them more invasive if they tried, even if you pay for the premium service anyone that visits your photo bucket will not come back, even though you reduced the adds you see, anyone visiting your page will get hit with the insane amount of pop ups and redirects.
I need an alternative any suggestions, does not have to be free just not so annoying to use.
The ad's are getting worse, the site has gone downhill in the last few years, you try to open up a picture you've uploaded and all you get it errors or more ad's. I've literally just deleted my account. I am not getting pressured into paying to remove the ad's they've forced on us.
I rarely ever write reviews, but I just felt I had to try and contribute in some way here. Photobucket is one of those sites that seem to actively try to make the internet worse. They're more than happy to let pictures hosted with them turn up in google image search, but when you try to view them they want your money. The image will turn up with an image size that's basically a lie, because there's no way you can actually view it at that size, all you get is a tiny, pixelated preview.
For the good of the internet, please stop using, visiting og paying Photobucket, it's the only way to make this problem disappear.
After over 10 years of submitting technical content to motorcycle, car, heck even cooking forums, Photobucket decides to break all of the links rendering the pages nearly useless. If pictures are worth 1,000 words, I'll let you do the math as to the value of forums that they are ONLY words. CEO should be put in jail for unethical business practices.
CEO, Ted Leonard, is a douche bag. I have been a photobucket CUSTOMER for years, and have continued to pay their fees as they were regularly jacked-up. Well, no more, there are alternatives. I would love to reduce my Photobucket storage requirements but they provide no efficient tools for doing that. You have lost your customer base with the stunts you have pulled. When I log on now, all I get are ADS, none of my photos. Suck it, Photobucket!
Simply put I had been using this site for a while and it used to be awesome, little to no adds and 3rd party hosting for free but now it's a terrible site. I would be forced to pay $50 a month to get all of my images reinstated, but you know the internet being the wonderful place it is I immediately went over to Imgur and am very happy with the services they have provided.
I trusted photobucket as a place to back up my photos, over 75,000 of them. I went to their site wanting to see a certain photo when I was informed I could not see any of my photos until I increased my membership. I then decided that I would pay it and then move all my photos. They have made it as difficult as possible so that you will spend the $400 to share your photos. They do not let you download entire photo albums just one photo at a time. Imagine how long this would take to download 75,000 photos! I like many others have been using photobucket for over 10 years and it is nothing like it was. Stay away!
I used to upload all my images to them. Now I can hardly log on, and I have to sit through so many ads it's criminal. There is not a heavier advertised site on any website on the entire internet. Adblock says there are between 97 and 450 ads on each screen refresh. It is absolutely criminal. Now I am performing the tedious task of downloading photos one at a time so I can put them on Imgur. Screw you photobucket. Go out of business already.
Photobucket was a useful site in the past. I used it if I wanted to find a get well message for example. I could pull up the one I liked and edit it to my liking via an edit option in the drop down menu. That option is no longer the case. So I tried uploading the image to "my bucket". That doesn't work either. I'm just glad I never signed up for the paid subscription. I only used the free option (along with an ad blocker to keep them from spamming me).
Answer: Pay to keep your photos there or lose 2/3 of them, Taken away the option of bulk download which means download 1 photo at a time of 1000's of photos and do it before photobucket deletes them all because rule changes put you over their new limit. Extortion.
Answer: Because it does. They make you click around madly to get out of the "pay us money" options just to get to your library, and then they force ads... 19 of them per page... and won't allow mass downloads.
Answer: I don't recommend using the mobile site, as phones (especially Apple), adblockers don't work and still flood up your screen. My worse experience is the m@ms ads that take over the screen and reappears every time you refresh or go to another page. TV commercials is better than this.
Photobucket has a rating of 1.2 stars from 211 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Photobucket most frequently mention 3rd party, customer service and free account. Photobucket ranks 88th among Photo Sharing sites.
