I found this so easy to use. As a registered dyslexic person I find it difficult to fill out online application forms. (This my mom is doing on my behalf) so to have a service that that double check it for you and send you the correct wording back is amazing I think. Also if I had any queries on what to do next they were in the other end of the phone, ever so helpful.
This site essentially charges you for forms that can be downloaded for free. Don't make the mistake I did by thinking that they handle the form submission process. The fee also does not go towards the renewal fee associated with your passport. Considering I already had the form completed before I signed up with them, I asked if I could get a refund and cancel my account. They did not accommodate my request.
I wanted to do a follow up on my review of September 27,2017. As I reported, I notified my bank. They immediately returned my money to my account, and then began an investigations. I didn't have to do anything more except wait about 90 days when they contacted me to say that the case was closed in my favor. So all it takes is a little time and a phone call to your bank to get your money back.
Wire fraud is similar to regular fraud, except that it takes place over phone lines or involves electronic communications. The legal definition of wire fraud has four elements:
The defendant created or participated in a scheme to defraud another out of money or property. Federal wire fraud is a federal offense and is typically investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but state laws and charges can also apply.
Everyone should contact their States - Attorney General Office -
The phone connection was so bad we could barely communicate but I was assured my private (HA!) information was not at their disposal and that the $38.00 charge would be removed. (The $38.00 charge is the least of my concerns.) She also said that if the company was a scam or fraud operation that their site would no longer be up. I tried to sell her the Golden Gate Bridge, but she was too savvy.:/
Caveat Emptor folks!
Like everyone here, I fell for their official looking google description, so completed the application. THEN I came to the page where they wanted $38. Realizing my mistake, and having found this page, I deleted the info. But was it really deleted?!
Don't pay anything! Only go to. Gov website for free passport online forms. I cancelled my credit card. You only send payment with the actual printed passport application. Always check carefully for website integrity.
They take your money and then charge a $2.97 overseas payment fee. Why would a USA passport service be billing from ANOTHER COUNTRY? Yes it's the top of the search in Google and looks legit. Don't do it! Thankfully I rushed to my bank and they gave me the charges back and filed a fraud paper. Such a shame this is still allowed online to scam others
Like so many other people, I was fooled by this scam company because I mistook it for the legitimate U.S. Government website for passport renewal. As soon as I clicked the button to make the $38 payment, it dawned on me that there isn't any other fee besides the standard renewal fee. Alarms went off in my head, and I immediately contacted them to request a refund. They sent me an e-mail stating that my purchase had been refunded, and that the payment would be removed from my bank statement within 24 hours. It's now 20 days later, and still no refund despite my sending two follow-up e-mails to them and being assured that it wouldn't take longer than 15 days. DO NOT be fooled by this scam website.
There's is absolutely nothing "easy" about this service. It's $99 for them to type your form up for you and have the post office pick it up from your house. I've had to email them countless times for errors in the form, inaccurate postal service pick up times, inquiries about whether the mailed package has a tracking number, and why I wasn't given information all upfront about the process. They take the $ quickly out of your account and a refund is near impossible. The form itself does look legit when I compared it to one off of the passport site but it's not been worth the money to go around and around with these people. Quite honestly I'm more worried now about identity theft because this company IS NOT in the USA. I didn't realize that initially. Save time and $ and just fill the form out yourself.
I gave all of my minor son's info to these horrible people.
I called them and they removed the charge-*******149
If it reappears I will call my credit card to dispute.
I also submitted an Experian fraud alert to be safe.
Total Scam! My daughter fell for this. We just called them at the number on her email confirmation and they are refunding her $38 and canceling her subscription. Didn't even realize it was a "subscription". They sent the cancellation email and said all data would be deleted from their DataBase. I asked the guy how they could get away w/ this scam. He said they are a "document preparation service" there to help first time users getting a passport. I wanted to reach through the phone and throat punch this idiot. I hate places like this.
This woman, Cynthia Karman, is out of Integrity. Her tactics are immoral.
She tricks people into believing they are renewing their passport, people like me and leaves them with a horrible feeling of being used.
Bad Karma, she needs help.
I fell for this too, just like everyone else. But I called them at *******149 and had the charge removed. We'll see in a few days if the charge was actually removed. I got a cancellation email which listed *******@passportusa.org as a support email address. I don't think these folks are trying to "hide" but it makes me nervous. They said my account was canceled and the information had been removed. If they are selling user info, they're being pretty brazen about it.
I was told by the post office clerk that I could download an application and bring it in. I happened on this site which looks official. I put in all my personal information, then when they tried to charge me $38.00 I knew it was a scam. I went to the post office and was told the application is free. Look at the small print at the bottom of this site and it will tell you. But I already put all my personal info in, now am worried about identity theft. Need to find a way to report them and shut it down.
I consider myself to pretty savvy when it comes to spotting a Website acting as something it is not. I'm just warning others not to fall in the same trap that I did. I was falsely under the impression that www.passport-usa.com were actual representatives of the US Passport Office. They are not! I paid $69 for their service which amounted to nothing more than taking my information and filling out an application for me which is free of charge at http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/*******.pdf and which I am completely capable of filling out for myself. What a ripoff!
Everyone says this is a scam so you start sweating thinking your identity will be stolen. Not the case. You're ok. The documents are legit & you will mail them off to the correct government agency. The rip off is paying for documents you can easily find online. You can upload these documents for FREE on the travel.state.gov website. You can breathe again but will have wasted some $$$. If you haven't gone through them yet, don't. Anytime you need gov docs & you're using a website the site should always end in. Gov. At 34, lesson learned!
Has anyone had any issues with identity theft after using this company? How is this one of the first sites that comes up on Google? I didn't pay the fee but I submitted address, SSN, passport book info, etc and I'm so anxious that they have all that. Please share if you believe you were a victim of identity theft by way of this company.
All this company did was collect my $38.00 and then was unavailable for questions. I figured out that I may not be able to renew my Passport online due to losing my original. I tried calling to see if this was true and received a busy signal - over and over and over. Trying to get a hold of someone via phone and email is fruitless. I am so mad at myself for being this stupid, meaning I just gave away free money. I would say they should be ashamed of themselves, but they don't care; they got another sucker - me. I have since gone to the postoffice and my passport is in route. DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
This site is phony you must read about them first you are paying them for nothing they just cheat you out of $38 bucks and you still have to pay the 110 for renewal total scam
Answer: Definitely a scam. Dispute the charge to your bank or credit card company.
Answer: File a Fraud Alert with any 1 of the 3 credit report bureaus as a precaution. US Gov has on-line guidance for this.
Passport-USA has a rating of 1.4 stars from 171 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Passport-USA most frequently mention post office, credit card and state gov. Passport-USA ranks 36th among Passports sites.
