Quality of pizza
May 25, 2025

I ordered a medium sausage AND hamburger pizza and there was a whole lot of sauce and very little meat. Im talking bery little crumbles of meat per slice of pizza. No cheese. (I ordered no cheese) i asked if they could add meat if i paid more and they refused to fix the situation. Not a happy camper.

I ordered a pizza from Papa Johns online at around noon on 6/19/25. The site indicated that the pizza should be delivered around 12:40. At 12:50 I went back on line to see if there was a problem, now all the system said was the estimate for delivery was 1:10 pm. At 1:25 pm I went back on line, and now delivery was estimated at 1:39 pm. I paced in my apartment for a short while, fuming. I called the local on Oleander Drive in Wilmington, reported that my pizza had not been delivered. "Oh, is this Patrick, the driver just picked it up" (almost an hour AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DELIVERED). "Call the driver back and cancel the order" I replied. I was then asked, "do you want a refund", "do you seriously think I'm ordering from here again".
I'm an old man; I understand things sometimes happen. But here's what ended the madness for me, Papa John's has my phone number, and they have my e-mail address. It never occurred to anyone to contact me to tell me there was a problem. Never occurred to anyone that I might have ordered a pizza because I was hungry, and the excess wait might be a problem.

Delivery drivers try and rip you off. I have had multiple drivers try and say the order is more than it was I can't talk about other papa John stores, but the one I used to order from is trash. Drivers are criminals and try and Rob you. When I enter the store, they always are playing some getto nig music and the employees are white. Tell this fake $#*! wanna be nigs to get outta town!

Huge disappointment
February 12, 2024

Pizza didn't seem fully cooked. Crust was limp and moist. Store was 10 minutes from where I live. I placed the order and immediately left the house to pick it up. Before I was even half way there I got a text that my order was ready. By the time I got home, pizza was barely warm. I doubt that I'll be back.

The pizzas we ordered arrived 30 minutes later than the expected time. 1 of the 5 pizzas was missing and the order numbers on the boxes clearly showed there should have been a total of 5. When i called (multiple times) with the phone number associated with the order they did not pick up. I called from a different phone number and they picked up they proceeded to ask me what the order number was, the phone number was at least 5 times during the call eventually agreeing to refund me for the pizza that was not delivered. There was a second pending transaction on my card which I assumed would refund me the price of the pizza but instead they charged me another 0.05 cents... Unsure if they don't know what they are doing or if they are intentionally stealing peoples' food and money... Either way it'll be my last time ordering from Papa John's.

I ordered a large stuffed crust pizza with a lot of toppings on it. The pizza cost $38 and I couldn't even eat it. No joke, from the crust, to the marinara, and the toppings, nothing tasted good about this pizza. I will be only buying MARCO'S PIZZA from now on!

I received an order from 545 Clough Pike, Cincinnati OH, which included (2) 20oz drinks, 1 Dr Pepper and 1 Pepsi. After removing Dr Pepper from bag, immediately noticed that the screw-cap had been unsealed, and some of the soda presumably consumed.

I have staged a complaint with the GM of the store, but have not received any acknowledgement of issue. Having a driver consuming a drink that is given to a customer is one of the grossest things that has happened, and is incredibly trashy.

While I am grateful for a refund, an employee consuming something that's to be given to a customer is completely uncalled for. I was able to catch that the bottle had been opened before drinking any of it, but what if I had been someone who wasn't aware? This isn't just something like having an item missing from an order, it's a potential health hazard.

App sucks. Good pizza!

Papa John's app sucks. It has half the options that their website has. But the app reflects deals and the website does not always. Stuffed crust pizza in app shows sale price but doesn't give options for pepperoni stuffed or crust flavors. The website gives options for pepperoni stuffed crust but doesn't offer the sale price. Such a cluster. Don't people actively manage their website and app? I ended up paying more on the website to get exactly what I wanted. You guys need to work on that app.

There was barely any chicken in the boneless chicken…. I have photos that are laughable …. No wonder they have horrid reviews …. Never again. Pizza and "chicken" were dry..

I've loved Papa Johns for years. Their bubbly crispy crust could not be beat. However in the last couple years, their pizza has not been as good. The crust. No bubbles, it's dense and although I always get well done, it never tastes fully cooked. I keep ordering, thinking maybe it was just a bad night at Papa Johns, but when the pizza arrives, I'm disappointed yet again. So I am taking Papa Johns off my speed dial and going to give my business to a local pizza chain.

Paid $40 for large Hawaiian extra cheese sausage onion and jalapeños. Barely any ingredients and 1/3 of edge no ingredients at all. Called and they blamed it on corporate portion control. Location closed and reopened under different management. First two orders fantastic now horrible. Won't ever give Papa Johns my business. Firestone Colorado

Decent food, suboptimal service

I've ordered probably around 50+ times from the same location and I can confidently say that on average the food quality was great though has trended downwards towards an overall OK quality-with some occasions of exceptionally poor quality.
It's rare but not unheard of to mess up an order (ex: forgetting parts of the order)
Their menu variety is great and in terms of sheer product, I'd have to rate them as by far the best chain-restaurant option for delivery.
However, my main issues are the lack of any delivery estimate prior to finishing payment and submitting everything (with estimate times occasionally exceeding 2 hours this can be infuriating), combined with no easy way to cancel (or change) the order online, instead having to call the store directly.

Overall, the actual food is likely to be good with a nice menu selection but not guaranteed. However, the site is missing some important quality of life features that really hold it back.

Ordering was easy

We have been customers for years. The ordering process has greatly improved but tonight we had an hour and 10 minute wait and when we went to pick up it was going to be another 30 minutes? No way! WTH? Better fix this or you will go under! Very disappointed!

Papa Johns has switched to Gluten Free crust by default. Unless you're in the mood for a very small piece of extremely thin charred, wet charred cardboard... go someplace else! ANY frozen pizza on the market is 100 times better than this filth!

My family has been eating Papa John's for over 20 years and I literally can't think of a single time we were disappointed with the meal! The app and the online version make it very easy to order as well. Keep up the great work!

Worst company

Worst customer service. Never will I order their food again. Talking to customer service is like pulling teeth. Actually, I'd rather go through a root canal than deal with these people again. They hang up or disconnect when they're bored with you. You never get a straight forward answer. I wish I could give negative zeros. Save yourself some pain and order from Little Caesar's which gives better service and treats their customers with respect. I guess if you're a large corporate company, you don't need wee peasants like myself.

The pizza was terrible, flavorless, hardly any toppings. I picked it up and a large thin crust 4 topping pizza cost $26.60! Seriously the worst take out pizza experience I have ever had. Will NEVER get Papa John's again.

I am a frequent customer, however their pizza size diameter is disappointing, I order it medium and i hold it small with very thick edges (not ordered crusted, ordered original), so having pizza size small...
I told them about my complain a lot of times for years but there is no improvement but may be they become more worse
As, last time I ordered the pizza delivered was cold, bad quality, too small...

Totally unacceptable. Informed the staff and was told the pans have all the pizzas looking like this but it's not burnt. Usually I go to Lovers Pizza but they were closed. So next time I will have to use Domino's.

From the order taker who can barely speak English to the fact that your order will most definitely be wrong, I've lost all faith in Papa Johns pizza! The food is still half decent, but you will not get what you order! It's pathetic that you can't even get through their phone line to let them know they messed up your order, they just don't care!
